"White feminism" does not mean every white woman, everywhere, who happens to identify as feminist. It also doesn’t mean that every "white feminist" identifies as white. I see "white feminism" as a specific set of single-issue, non-intersectional, superficial feminist practices. It is the feminism we understand as mainstream; the feminism obsessed with body hair, and high heels and makeup, and changing your married name. It is the feminism you probably first learned. "White feminism" is the feminism that doesn’t understand western privilege, or cultural context. It is the feminism that doesn’t consider race as a factor in the struggle for equality. White feminism is a set of beliefs that allows for the exclusion of issues that specifically affect women of colour. It is “one size-fits all” feminism, where middle class white women are the mould that others must fit. It is a method of practicing feminism, not an indictment of every individual white feminist, everywhere, always.

Let’s face it, dorm room closets are small and the drawers are even smaller. I’ve found that using slim hangers allows you to fit more in your closet, but I also noticed that it doesn’t help much when you still have 30+ hangers being used for tank tops. I bought some shower curtain rings for a few bucks at Walmart and used them to hang all of my tanks on one hanger. I freed up 31 hangers! Pretty neat, right?

“Living in the dorms this year has taught me a lot about myself. I love socializing one-on-one, meeting new, interesting and intelligent people but at the end of the day I just want to be alone. As a Slytherin, I bottle up my emotions and stress like no other, but on top of that I have a very hard time letting my guard down when I’m around almost everyone except for a very select few. It’s been extremely stressful for me to put on a mask 24/7 and this alone has put me through so much anxiety and frustration. I’m am very much looking forward to living alone next year. To me, it’s worth the extra money.”
