Do you ever wonder why we have emotions? Sometimes they can feel so terrible that we wish we didn't have them right?
"What they said hurt me but they did not mean it. I know that they love me"
"I don't like when they act this way but they aren't always like that"
"They only act this way when they're angry or had a hard day"
"This behaviour is because of what I did. I deserve it"
We do ourselves a disservice when we allow disrespectful and unhealthy behaviour from others. You control your narrative. People will treat you the way that you allow them to. Healthy behaviour includes communication, self-evaluation and change. Healthy responses include taking responsibility for one's own actions, apologizing and changing that behaviour. Just as you are responsible for your behaviour, as are others. Stop making excuses for maladaptive behaviour. Call it like it is.

Why do we become our own bully? You're a human being. You have strengths and weaknesses. You make mistakes sometimes, but you learn from them. You're growing. That's perfectly normal. So why can't we be patient and kind to ourselves for being a work in progress? Why do we face such difficulty in forgiving ourselves and moving on? Give yourself the love, kindness and forgiveness that you deserve.

Feelings and emotions are part of our human nature. They are unavoidable and serve many purposes. Unfortunately, however, they are not always an enjoyable experience. You have control over how you feel your emotions. Feelings are like a wave; they come and they go. You can allow them to consume you or you can feel them and let them pass.
Does this hit home for anyone else? Sometimes we can find ourselves putting others before ourselves; creating uncomfortable or inconvenient situations for ourselves for the sake of others. Why? It is okay to want to help others but it should not be to the detriment of ourselves. Surely a middle ground can be found. It is okay to set boundaries , acknowledging that something requires too much of us. It does not mean that you are not a good friend or relative. It does not mean that you are not kind or selfish. You simply understand the value of self-love.
Let's be real, sometimes we treat ourselves unfairly or poorly. We don't give ourselves the kindness that we offer to others. That needs to change. Today, I'm starting a series: Things To Stop Doing. Stop allowing others to determine your value! 🚫 You know who you are. You know your strengths, your weaknesses, your intentions, your spirit. You don't need to live up to anyone else's standards. You don't need their validation, nor does their opinion define you. #thingstostopdoing
Sometimes life can be so fast-paced and busy. If your life is like mine, this week is one of those weeks. Just thinking about the week can be overwhelming and demotivating. This frustration serves little purpose, creating more doubt anything. You are more than capable of getting through it so why worry? Sometimes, planning, preparation and encouraging words is all it takes. It sounds cliché but it is true. Keep this in mind as you approach this week.
