My friends new tattoo=]
Who knows who's looking when you're not?
I just thought I'd try to start a new category of posts where I just throw up a random picture for no reason at all with little to no explanation of why i did it. So here you go, a sky, a tree and some grass...that is all.
Got my party face on ^,^
For some reason it just dawned on me a few hours ago that it was Tuesday. I had a genuine "Oh my god, how the hell did that happen" moment. I 100% blame the weekend for it. My usual pattern on the weekend is to go drinking with some friends on Friday then with on average 4 hours sleep on me I head to work, come home to shower, eat and pre-drink then meet up with more friends to go clubbing. So Sunday is usually the day that the lack of sleep and many, many drinks catch up with me and i do absolutely nothing. I'm not exaggerating here. I wake, I eat, I crawl back to bed and turn into a blanket burrito for the night. So since last weekend was a hybrid bank holiday/Hallowe'en weekend i mustered up the courage to continue the partying on to Sunday night and effectively drained myself of my Monda. So apologies for not posting anything music-y but better late than never, right? Also since it's now 2am and technically Wednesday, aka halloween, I thought I'd go for a delightfully weird song and video.
This is a band called Angelspit. I found them late one night when I was clicking the suggestion videos and eventually ended up in the weird part of youtube. After being mesmerized by the beautifully grotesque video linked above i had to hear more and eventually became a bit of a fan. I don't know a whole lot about them except that they're Australian and the two founding members met online. If you want to know more just Google it, don't be lazy.
I understand that they won't be to everyone's musical taste but I't'd be boring if I posted the same kind of music every week. If nothing else you can now say that you've listened to a song genre'd as cyber horror electronica. That's got to be on everybody's bucket list right? Also the video is a bit strange and is what some people may call disturbing, you have been warned.

The Old House
Seeing as Hallowe'en is approaching I thought I'd try and do something creepy for the blog. There's an old house next to mine, and when i say "next to" I mean it is about ten feet away. The view from one of my kitchen windows is obscured by the side of this old house. It has been abandoned and taken over by cats for as long as i can remember.
It's actually the house that my mom, along with her brothers and sisters, grew up in. However myself and my sister have always referred to it as "The Old House" for as long as I can remember and we've heard many a stories about it growing up. Mostly fond memories from my mother talking about her childhood. I didn't mind these stories, it was the stories that my uncle would tell us that kept me wary of the house. Telling a bunch of 6-12 year olds stories of the people that have died in the house and that are now haunting the grounds is a hilarious idea...but not when I'm on the receiving end of it >:( The amount of times I'd hear something at night and assume that the spirit of Johnny Mike is coming to dismember me and do nasty thing to my stumps is surprisingly high.
But as the years went on I just forgot about it. Not the house but the fear that was associated with it. That is until recently. I got a pretty fancy camera for Christmas last year and haven't done a whole lot with it. Mostly because I wouldn't know what to do if i ever took an awesome picture (which is one of the main reasons for this blog). But lately I've been making a decent effort to get off my ass and take nature walks and stuff to get some decent snaps. Which bring us to today, when I got home I was suddenly drawn to the front door of The Old House and I had these mental images of all the weird and scary images I could get in there so I ran in to get my camera and made my way to the object of my childhood fears. I have to admit that i hesitated at the front door for a few seconds but i slowly reached out and turned the squeaky handle only to be met by an unusual odor. It wasn't necessarily a bad smell, just a confirmation that the house is definitely abandoned. I made my way through the porch area to the biggest/main room in the house only to be completely....disappointed.
Apart from the weird smell and a bit of mouldy walls the house isn't that bad, and there were bikes, lawnmowers and other stuff there as well. Apparently my uncle uses it as a storage space. I still took some shots in the hopes of snapping a creepy picture but it just didn't live up to my expectations. Luckily I'm a tad handy with photoshop so I could manipulate the pictures to give them the eery feeling. Not sure if that's cheating but it's safe to say that whatever fear or unease that has resided in me is officially gone. Although I do wonder why i was told not to go upstairs???

My favorite, the open fireplace
and yes, that is a walker hanging from the ceiling o_O
Soooo, i Slenderized my artist's mannequin. Who needed sleep anyway?
Just a quick something to make sure I'm posting regularly. I was asked to contribute some work in an art show themed "The Four Elements". To have my art displayed in an exhibition with 7 other well known artists was ever so slightly intimidating but i seemed to get a warm reception to my pieces.
The first piece is titled Spirit Of The Phoenix and represents fire
I didn't actually name the second one and i still have it so suggestions are welcome. This one represents air.
So my rambling in my first post actually made me think that Music Video Monday wouldn't be the worst theme. Considering I have quite an eclectic taste in music my aim would be to show off some musicians that aren't thrown in your face everyday on the TV or on the radio, so don't expect any Black Eyed Peas or Lady Gaga. For my first ever Music Video Monday I thought I'd keep it local with an Irish band that any of my friends or family who are forced to listen to my music should be all too familiar with...Fight Like Apes. They are quite possibly my favourite band ever, a combination of their weird, sometimes nonsensical lyrics to their fun and energetic music videos make them a treat for the eyes and ears. I also went to see them live three times and actually got to meet them twice, two out of three ain't bad, and i was delighted to find out they're just as awesome in person as their music would suggest. Also if you were a fan of wrestling back in the days of WWF as i was then there's some added awesome in the video for you. One last thing before i finish, as I said earlier one of the reasons i love FLApes are their odd lyrics and if you've already watched the video I'm sure you've noticed a few spots where the audio cuts. That's because the official music video is the clean version of the song. They cut my favourite lyric of the song, and possibly best quote in the world;
"He's about as much use a cuntless whore".
Pure poetry
My 7 second movie debut
Exciting times next week. About three months ago i was an extra in a low budget independent short zombie movie as a member of the undead. I showed up for make up at 7am, which is ridiculously early for me, and after hanging around for a few hours getting to know my fellow creatures of the night it was time to shoot my scene. A nice surprise for me was being told that I’ll actually get to be a featured extra. I was under the assumption that I’d be an unrecognizable face in the crowd but being one of the few extras to turn up with colored contact lenses i was told that I’ll actually get to interact with the main actors and even get some face time. Sure I’m only going to be on screen for a few seconds but it’s still the biggest claim to fame that i have to date. Aaanyway the movie is being shown for the first time next week in one of my favourite pubs in Galway called Fibber Mcgees and i cant wait for it. I’m hoping the movie will be available to view online but until then you can check out the trailer for it.

Tumblr is new and therefore I fear it
I've never ever ever blogged before so i thought tumblr would be a good place to start. One of the reasons i never blogged is because I wouldn't know where to begin. Ideally I'd like to come up with a theme for different postings on different days i.e. "Music Video Monday" or "Something Sunday". But until i figure out what I'm doing i thought i'd kick things off with a nice photo i took while taking a walk with a friend through some nearby woods. Look at the picture, appreciate the picture, enjoy the picture!!!!
