Harvey was the oldest child of a family of two, he was born in Chicago to a middle class family. They didnât have much, but they were happy in their own way. He always knew he was different than everyone, especially since he never felt any sort of attraction to girls his age, or even woman so to speak, he liked the boys and he liked them a lot. The fact that he was gay never seemed like it would be a huge problem for him, or his mother, but it was for his father. Jordan Sir was extremely homophobic and saw his sonsâs weakness as something he should and could take care of. The older man was terrible to his son, trying to mold him into someone he claimed was better, someone that was a real, true man, just like himself. To achieve such a thing, Jordan Sir used methods that were a bit controversial, by being abusive to his son verbally and physically, claiming he was going toâ smack the faggness out of him somehowâ. Jordan Sirâ attitudes towards his son were the main cause of many arguments between his parents. With a mother that would defend her son against all evil and harm, and a father that would do anything he thought was right, many nights â and days â- were spent with the couple throwing daggers at each other, even to the point of Jordan Sir hitting his wife in the heat of the moment.
At the age of 15, Jordan Jr was sent to an uncle in Fordbay, in the hopes that a small town like that would be able to teach him some manners and that hard work would pay off in the end. That man was the original Harvey, that after finding out the truth about the Smith family, did everything in his power to protect the young boy, by offering him shelter and a job as a chance of starting over and being himself away from all the hate and violence he was raised around. The move to Fordbay was a true blessing to him, or so he hoped. Two years after his move, a tragic accident broke his family apart: his parents got in a car accident, the main cause being the intoxication of his father that lead to his motherâs death and Jordan Sir to be sent to jail, leaving Jordanâs younger sister in the care of another relative, keeping the siblings apart.
Years passed and Jordan grew quieter, keeping his origins and past hidden from everyone, the only person knowing the truth about it all was Harvey, who took it with him to the grave. After Harveyâs death, Jordan took over the store, owning the âHarveyâ nickname, seeing it as a way to honor the man that once chanced his life for good by giving him a chance of start over. One day he met Roger Crain, a man who used to work at the store and the two grew closer, becoming best friends at some point in life. When Rogerâs wife died, Jordan offered the two-room home attached to the store to Roger and his daughter, Haley, creating what some would see as a âfamilyâ at some point. What no one knew about was that the two men fell in love and when Haley left for college, they started to live a romance in secrecy, becoming a real family at that point. The two lived happy years until Rogerâs sudden passing, leaving Jordan to deal with his sudden loss and grief as well as some ghosts from the past that decided to come to the surface.
