“Hey, I might have a bit of an odd request,” Aurora chuckles out awkwardly as she stops the first person she sees while grocery shopping. Taking her eight year old daughter anywhere proved to be a challenge, especially when she was by herself. They were just about to leave the store when they passed the gum ball machine right by the front doors. Serenity had whined to her, wanting a few of them. After rummaging through her purse, she realized she had no spare change. To be fair, Ren had been good during their trip, so maybe she did deserve a little treat. “Do you happen to have any spare change on you? Preferably two quarters?” she asked.

There was joy pumping through Clayton, the town’s annual arts festival underway. It’s as grand as ever and Laurie is being swallowed by the sound of beaming laughter and music from all sides. A painting catches her eyes as she strolls past vendors and activity stations alike. It’s one of a woman backdropped by a blanket of deep, crimson red. You can only see the back of her head but Laurie pictures her face to be stern but contemplative. She thinks to buy it but decides not to last minute and continues on. Her dark eyes wander, the sound of her heels clicking against the pavement drowned out by the rest of the noise. Laurie had a luxurious looking booth set up toward the front, covered in velvet red curtains and gold accents. They offer food, drinks, and hospitality. It’s a surefire way of promoting her club, her girls also preparing for a performance toward evening hours. 

She soon stumbles upon a familiar face, a smile beginning to inch its way across her mouth. “Havin’ fun yet, baby?” Laurie greets the other, her brows quirking upward in amusement. “I’m mentally counting the minutes until sudden doom. I assume it’s only a matter of time before some club members finds themselves fightin’ on the street, you know?”

Speaking of her son, Ivan was spending time with his father and she was just missing him enough that she was tempted to interrupt their time. Her mind only changes when she runs into Laurie. She was beyond happy to see her friend. “I’ve spent some money, had some drinks, so I think it’s been perfect.” She rolled her eyes at the mention of the clubs causing a ruckus. “Laurie please do not put that energy out there. I wanna actually enjoy my day off ‘kay? Besides looking like trouble,” she winked, giving the other woman a playful hip bump. “What have you been up to?”
