I feel like if dark Cacao had a daughter instead of a son things would have gone somewhere along the lines of "stay with me" from Into The Woods.

and not to say anything would have ended up differently. Dark Cacao is still Dark Cacao. the only difference here would be that overprotection would have driven that kid to the same path as neglect did for Dark Choco (similarly to Rapunzel in ITW).
