Stumbled across a layout/character sketch for our unrealized Christmas card from 2015 earlier this summer. A family photo loosely in the style of a Chuck Jones cel- 2 kids ago, when we were living with my grandma, her only great grandson (“the one that made her ‘great’”), and our cat, Purbole. Since then, we had our now oldest daughter, moved into our first house, hosted family Christmases on both sides, and that following July, Mema passed away, surrounded by her children: my mom, her brothers, and their spouses. I’m glad I found the sketch this summer- 2019, and that time travel was involved in its completion. I was able to reflect on that chapter in our lives, implement digital painting skills I had only fully realized this year, and wrap it up just in time for my mom’s birthday. — So... if you were on our Christmas card list in 2015, this would have been it, except not really- because time travel, better tools, and a better Birm. — And to Mema- thanks for everything. You were always ‘great’ even when you were just a grandma. #christmascard #familyphoto #grandma #cat #chuckjones #piano #cel #animationlayout #digitalpainting #sketch #valuestudy #portrait #character #2015 #2019 #mrbirm https://www.instagram.com/p/B2GIPtQD3u1/?igshid=1cprem20zth2z
