Well, hey! It's Alva!
It's been a while since I've drawn for myself, so here's a picture of Alva, my OC from the Old West shapeshifter world.
Alva is a 60-something year old nonbinary tailor who can shapeshift into a donkey. They're kind of short, easy to pick up, and the running joke is that they don't know they're nonbinary but everyone around them can tell. They're a Spongebob-esque character, full of wonder and whimsy and generally seeing the best in people. They're excellent at chess, love embroidering little details, and have a love/hate relationship with wedding season. Their voice kin is the late Leslie Jordan.
I realized recently that everything I'm drawing is for commissions or a major project; it's no wonder I've been feeling listless lately. Drawing for myself was a joy, and I think this comes through in this drawing. I'm also trying out some different painting techniques, as I feel my art is stagnating a little, and I'm ready to push it again.

saratoga 2024
Captured in 1909, this candid image shows a cowboy receiving a trim outside a humble dugout dwelling somewhere on the western plains. A friend acts as the barber, scissors in hand, while saddles, ropes, and basic supplies are scattered around the dusty yard.
Their home is built into the earth—part dugout, part log shack—typical of frontier living during the waning days of the American Old West. The makeshift barbershop and weathered gear hint at the gritty, day-to-day life of cattlemen working far from towns or amenities.
Did you know? Dugouts like this were common from Texas to the Dakotas during frontier expansion. Cowboys often improvised everything, from furniture to haircuts, living in isolation with only their tools, horses, and each other for company.

I love seeing stagecoaches in westerns. This one pictured is from the rifleman episode called "Guilty Conscience"
Anyway, as much as I love black and white, I wish it was in color sometimes so I could see what color the coach was since I freaken' love stagecoaches. My favorite model is the wells fargo one with the red paint and yellow wheels shown below. Anyway, yeaa. Yours truly, your stagecoach obsessed fan
