listen it wouldnt be an instant “yeah suddenly in love after just one moment” (and theyre like 10-12 respectively so its not like theyre really ready to be in love yet anyways) but more like… they can become friends. and they could slowly fall in love from there - not because gideon is settling for the “lesser” twin but because if he actually sat down with the twins as equals, with the lessons he took to heart from dipper, he could actually genuinely love one of them - genuinely fall in love with them - instead of simply being infatuated with mabel.

 like genuinely coming to love dipper for who he is, rather than viewing him as an obstacle or as an ultimatum for earning mabel’s love. maybe itd happen in the future when theyre teens. idk im just into redemption love stories - even better if theyre foils to each other - stories where they help each other become better ppl and they come to respect and love each other through effort and getting to know each other and understanding each other and shit i mean it was just one moment but its one moment thats like??? powerful to me

at first i was imagining a nice brotp moment netween dipper and lil gideon that gideon gives dipper a big hug before they leave for the bus “Dipper, I- I Just wanted tah’ say… Thank ya’ for giving me a secon’ chance. I didn’t deserve it, but…”

Dipper’s like, “Hey, don’t beat yourself up too much, ok?” And they swap numbers/addresses so they can keep in touch

A alternative version of this, where dipper goes to boat’s date instead of the “The Club” date (the date where Dipper goes to break down with Gideon  in the name of Mabel in the canon) to break down with Gideon, but he eventually ends enjoying of the date.
