Valentine’s Trip w/ @mpfreyr
Fifteen hours was an exhausting amount of time to spend on a plane- not exhausting in the way a full day could be, but in the way one felt after sitting, and sitting and sitting. The layover in which they had spent getting snacks and coffee seemed far far away by the time they finally landed, but as she peered out the plane window as they descended all of the heaviness in her bones dissolved and Jinny suddenly felt as if she couldn’t stay still.
The first breath she takes outside of the airport feels like it’s the deepest she has ever taken or will ever take, and her eyes surely sparkle when she spins to throw her arms around Freyr’s neck and kiss him deeply.
Growing up in a city like Tokyo, the demigoddess had mentioned once or twice how she cherished the trips out of town, to the shrines and the forests- which had one day led into her asking questions upon questions about Freyr’s home and if he missed it. She was easily mesmerized by tales of snow and mountains, enthralled in picturing the God in his domain. Coming to Mount Phoenix had been adventurous for a girl previously leading such a sheltered life, but the thought of traveling by her lover’s side was quite romantic rather than even a bit nerve wracking.
Afraid of pressing or intruding she had abstained from asking further questions, day dreaming about one day visiting Norway instead. So when Frey had proposed a trip for Valentine’s she had not at all expected where it would be to. Needless to say she was astounded and wooed beyond belief when their destination was revealed.
-and here she was, still not quite believing they had really come together.
Freyr hadn’t been back to Norway in a long time, but regardless of how the country changed over time, it was still his home and where the gods of Asgard had been worshipped. He had spent years in the midst of his travels in Norway, taking in the weather, the beauty and he was excited to share it with Jinny. Fifteen hours had been a long flight and he could tell that she was antsy and tired but he had promised that it would be all worth it.
During their dates, he had woven stories of his home to her and while he would have loved to take her to Asgard, Norway was a very very close second. His domain had been the Alfheim, the domain of the elves and Norway’s beautiful fjords and mountains were a close replica of Alfheim, although they were nowhere near the actual beauty of the realm that he oversaw. So, upon landing in the Norway airport, Freyr grasped her hand, eager to show her his home. “It’s not comparable to Asgard and Alfheim, but Norway comes very close to the beauty you’d see of the Nine Realms,” he states, adjusting his jacket and grabbing their bags.
“We’re not staying in the city though. There’s a beautiful lodge in the mountains that looks out onto the fjords,” he adds. It was the romantic idea that he had planned in a while. Of course, he’d taken time off work and made sure that Jinny had the time off as well since he really didn’t want phone calls from Jinny’s boss to interrupt their romantic getaway. “What do you think so far?” he asks, holding onto her waist with a grin. “A quite worthy Valentines?” he hummed.
he also couldn’t believe that he was here with her.
