Will The Heroes Receive Their Punishment Too?
I'm not worried about whether the villains will receive their punishment or not because until now the manga has made it clear that the villains will be punished for their crimes when they shall be captured (AFO, Overhaul, Mustard, etc.).
My worry is: will the heroes be punished for their crimes, too? Because up till now, the narrative in BNHA universe has been so biased and judging from the public (can't you see-kun) reaction and the other heroes (BJ, Deku, Tokoyami) reaction towards the matter that has been laid out before their eyes (the truth behind the No. 1 and the No. 2), the possibility of the heroes being held accountable for their crimes seems so less likely. The hero worship in BNHA is going too strong.
I will just going for one crime in my post here as an example: CHILD ABUSE.
In my country law, it is written that a parent is obliged to provide protection for children from violence and abuse.
In accordance with the provisions of Article 13 paragraph (1) of Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection (โChild Protection Lawโ) as amended by Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of the Year 2002 concerning Child Protection (โLaw 35/2014โ) which states that every child, while in the care of a parent, guardian, or any other party responsible for care, is entitled to protection from treatment:
b. exploitation, both economic and sexual;
d. cruelty, violence and persecution;
(The bold ones are those that I think the No. 1 "clearly" did to his children, you can add the others too if you think they're included.)
According to jurisprudence, what is meant by the word persecution is deliberately causing bad feelings (suffering), pain, or injury. Examples of "pain" are which caused by pinching, hitting, slapping, and so on.
Article entangling child abuse perpetrators is specifically regulated in Article 76C of Law 35/2014 which reads:
Everyone is prohibited from placing, permitting, committing, ordering or taking part in committing violence against children.
Meanwhile, sanctions for people who violate the above articles (the perpetrators of violence / the persecution) are specified in Article 80 of Law 35/2014:
Every person who violates the provisions as referred to in Article 76C, shall be sentenced to imprisonment of not longer than 3 (three) years 6 (six) months and / or a maximum fine of Rp.72,000,000.00 (seventy-two million rupiah).
In the event that the child as referred to in paragraph (1) is seriously injured, the perpetrator will be sentenced to imprisonment for a maximum of 5 (five) years and / or a maximum fine of Rp. 100,000,000.00 (one hundred million rupiah).
In the event that the child as intended in paragraph (2) dies, the perpetrator will be sentenced to imprisonment for a maximum of 15 (fifteen) years and / or a maximum fine of IDR 3,000,000,000.00 (three billion rupiah).
The penalty is added by one third of the provisions as intended in paragraph (1), paragraph (2), and paragraph (3) if the perpetrator of the abuse is the parent.
So, according to my country law, the No. 1 can be sentenced to imprisonment for at least 4 years 8 months for the child abuse crime only. The question is: seeing how Hori adapted the BNHA universe from the Japanese culture, is it as big as a problem if being seen from their view? How will the Japanese culture and the Japanese law view this matter? Does the No. 1 can be held accountable for his past child abuse or is it more likely to be brushed off (him walking free) judging from how the public and the heroes reaction towards the matter at hand up till now? Judging from how much the public in BNHA universe 'worship' their heroes and how much the heroes try so hard to 'preserve their image', will this matter even be brought to the court in the first place? If there is anyone who has the knowledge of how the Japanese culture will perceive this matter and/or how the civil law legal system of Japan will solve a child abuse crime, you can share.
