My heart breaks for Wanda in so many ways. I can’t imagine going through what she’s been through: losing her parents and then the only one who survived (her brother). Losing the love of her life (over and over). Losing her children. And losing the life she dreamed of (even though it was false and created out of grief). Wanda just. Keeps. Losing. She held on to the idea of possibly bringing her happiness back, even if it meant killing another person’s child. Even if it meant destroying another Wanda’s happiness.

She was so blinded and ultimately corrupted by what she wanted most of all. Her situation reminds me a lot of Strange Supreme from What If…? Both driven by grief and the loss of people they love to the point where they didn’t even care what it took to get back to them. And in the end, neither of them got what they wanted. That scene where America opened the portal and Wanda’s boys saw what was happening… now THAT was harrowing. The very reasons Wanda was doing everything she did being terrified of her and even trying to attack her… that sobered her up real quick. No highly charged sorcerer attack or anything of that kind could ever have that same effect on her.

I promise I have other non-Chat related thoughts about this show and this season specifically (more posts to come lol), but I mostly wanted to talk about Ladybug’s treatment of Chat in the last scene of “Strike Back” If there’s one trope that bothers me it’s the “I didn’t appreciate you until you did something for me or were there for me” trope.

We’ve all seen how Ladybug/Marinette treated Chat this season (and previously). Ladybug had every right to call Chat out on his unwanted flirting but after that she was just being mean to him. I don’t wanna sound like a broken record from my last post but oh boy the last scene of the finale was so… Ladybug only appreciated or accepted Chat reaching out to her because there was literally no one else. He was the last person around and so she confided in him. Ladybug talks about how she pushed him away blah blah blah but she only said so because she had no other choice. This scene would’ve been the perfect place for a heartfelt apology from her, and even a deeper conversation, but it lowkey turned into a mini pity party for Ladybug. I’ve loved Marinette for almost 8 years but it’s hard for me to defend her at this point… I know the whole situation was hard on her but we need an intervention at this point. I couldn’t even be happy about the hug or the LadyNoir moment bc I was side eying it the whole time 💀
