I like the way Littlewood went about separating the passage of time in-game from the passage of time out-of-game.
Usually Story-of-Seasons-esque games (Stardew Valley, Coral Island, Fields of Mistria, Harvest Moon, etc) are a constant, sometimes punishing race against time to get as much done in a day as possible. Making the approach of night dependent on how much energy you've expended means that packing as much as you can into a day just plain doesn't work. It's not about how much you can do, but instead what you choose to do, and rushing does absolutely jack shit to get you further.
It's a pleasant way to shake things up, and I think about it even as I move on to other games.

I desperately want to see Misty and Walter have some kind of chaotic showdown someday. They're each so outrageously over the top in their own very weird ways, I think they would independently pull off a waterfall-chain of horrific crimes and then either be completely on the same page about why it's understandable or somehow use it as one of their 'TIME TO LOCK IN' switches and just escalate things further.
It would be so funny. I would be plastered to my screen for every second of it.
