Zephyr is a new character for a sort of second-generation arc of Leviathan's Guild, my (and my cousin's) fantasy pirate story. They're fairly new to the Scylla (the pirate ship the story takes place on) and become the apprentice of Alistor, the ship's navigator and protagonist of the first generation of the story. On the ship, Zephyr's bright and optimistic personality earns him the nickname "Sunny," which the crew quickly adopts as his name. Zephyr's no stranger to new names, though (as illustrated by the long list of other aliases).

Before continuing, though, I'd like to point out how nice of a silhouette he has because just LOOK AT IT

Shapeshifters aren't popular among any of the other species, prompting Ixajür to hide their true nature and often assume one or multiple consistent forms to live among the other species. Zephyr was no exception. The crew of the Scylla doesn't know the truth; not even the captain does, nor Alistor. Most of them assume her to be a hybrid of some sort, which isn't uncommon among the ship's personnel; Alistor himself is a hybrid.

Before joining the crew of the Scylla, Zephyr bounced around a lot. I'm still working out their backstory, but I know for certain that over and over again they've had to leave one home after another, one family after another, whether it be because of death or war or their supposed friends finding out what they are and chasing them away. He's just about accepted that as his fate. When he joins the Scylla's crew, he doesn't expect to stay long, in fact he only boarded the ship in the first place to get away from his most recent disaster. She planned to reach the pirates' destination, change form and name again, and vanish without a trace, but he ends up tangled in the ship's messy family and attached to a silent stowaway, and for a moment he dares to hope he's found a home after all. Just as long as his past stays in the past...
