I don't have the heart for it because I Do need things to be happy or it will kill me, but I have been chewing on the idea of hollanov divorce. because really it is so fucking juicy. you went through hell for this relationship because you thought it was going to be worth it. you put your career on the line. you made yourself a public spectacle. everyone and their mother knows you and knows your relationship and has opinions on it. everyone is looking at you.

and it doesn't work. it's different now. maybe you can't actually love each other when it comes down to it. you thought you did, but things change. it's different to be married, to be living together, to be in each other's pockets. but you've already given up so much to be here. it was humiliating to get here, it would be even more humiliating to admit that it didn't work. that all of it was for nothing.

so you stay together. even though it isn't good, it isn't love. you fight. you live together in name only. good thing you didn't have kids yet, right? just a dog who paces by the door, wondering why things are different now. you barely look at each other in the locker room. you play together and let hockey be the excuse for why you don't talk. you keep yourself busy with everything else and you don't think about the absent shape of your husband missing at your side. you don't wear your ring - you didn't really wear it before, anyway. you don't go out because everyone knows your face and everyone knows you're married. maybe you keep fucking, anyway. it doesn't mean anything, right? isn't that what you said for years? the sex is good. it was the only good thing.
