The sounds of a transformation sequence drew Starscreamâs attention back to the medic, and he sneered down at the green mecha as the soft whirring of the blade struck a chord of recognition. â O-oh, a weapon, so scary. Are you going to use that on me, now? Iâd advise you do so quickly. I grow weary of this ridiculous squabble. â
Near his spark, the Seeker could feel the terrified fluctuations of the hatchlingâs sparks. They hated when the pair fought, and now was no exception â and Starscream just wanted it to end, one way or the other. This was what he was choosing to do, to go after the humans. If Ratchet wanted it another way, he would have to enforce it.
Starscream disengaged from the medic with a shove, and slipped ahead; his heat sensors detected the humans a mere 50 feet ahead, the entrance still a good distance away yet. He could catch them still, and while his opinion about the tiny cretins hadnât differed, he was willing to do simply that â catch them â for Ratchetâs sake. If one of them perished in the attempt, Starscream wouldnât be particularly upset about it.
Of course, Starscream failed to mention that to the medic, and instead he muttered, â I am thinking, idiot. â
Ratchet still didnât want to start an actual fight, but the Seeker was leaving him no choice. Perhaps if Starscream had broadcasted his altered intentions, the medic wouldnât have felt the need. Heâd been reasonable enough over their time spent living together. Maybe, just maybe heâd have chanced trusting his words.
That wasnât the reality he faced, however, and the Seekerâs silence compelled him to act in the humansâ defense. Recovering from the shove, Ratchet swung around. A quick scan told him exactly where the hatchlings were - exactly where not to hit him. He would be quick, and surgical, any damage something he could easily repair after the fact. Or so he told himself. Attacking from behind was wrong, but what else could he do?
His tanks rolled as he threw himself forward, shoulder guard slamming into Starscreamâs back. With the state of his one leg, the force sent the Seeker forward to crash into the ground. Ratchet was quick to step forward, one pede landing on his back as he brought his saw forward to nick the armor over the Seekerâs spinal strut. The whirling blade went no further than that, but the implied threat was clear.
âEnough, Starscream. If you were thinking at all, this ridiculous squabble wouldnât be happening at all!â
Please, stay down, Ratchet silently implored him as he spoke.
