The Captain and The FBI Agent - Part 3
Pairing: Olivia Benson x Reader
Summary: Your FBI partner shows up while your memories start coming back.
Warnings: Mentions of rape, mentions of drugging
Words: 3.7K
When she gets in the precinct she sees a guy wearing an FBI badge and a gun. She then sees that he’s talking loudly to Amanda and Carisi.
“What’s going on in here?” Olivia asks.
“She’s our Captain.” Carisi tells him and he turns to her.
“Captain Benson, whatever you think happened, Y/n had nothing to do with it.” He pleas and she furrows her eyebrows.
“And who are you?” She asks him.
“Jake Melvin, Y/n’s partner.” He tells her.
“Let’s talk in my office.” She tells him.
“Of course, anything to help Y/n.” He says and then follows her to her office. He sits down in one of the chairs across from hers as she closes the door and then sits down. He takes notice of you in the interrogation room and sees your sunglasses. “Why is she wearing sunglasses?”
“Light is making her headache worse.” Is all she says. “How well do you know her, Agent Melvin?”
“She’s been my partner for 8 years, I think I know her almost as much as her sister does.” He tells her. “Her sister can tell you exactly what I am, that whatever is going on, she’s innocent.”
“How did you hear that we have her?”
“My captain said she called, saying SVU is taking her to their station.” He says.
“We haven’t made an official arrest with her, but it’s also not looking good for her. And that’s all I can tell you for right now.” She explains. “There’s also something that doesn’t feel right, and I want to know more about her.”
“Whatever you want to know, I’ll answer.”
“How many drinks does she usually have at a bar?”
“If she has an alcoholic drink then no more than one.” He confirms and Olivia nods and leans back in her seat.
“What about partners or girls that she brings home? Is it a regular thing?” She then asks.
“She rarely brings a girl home, she rarely meets girls. She is more of a married to the job type. If she does meet a girl then she likes to meet them a few times before she even thinks about inviting them to her place for dinner.” He tells her.
Before he can say anything else, there’s a knock at the door. Olivia holds up her index finger to Jake before she gets up and opens the door. At the door is Fin and has his phone in hand.
“The bodega owner Lu is on the phone, confirming she was there but wants to speak to you.” He tells her.
“Give me a minute.” She tells Jake. “Stay with him.” She whispers to Fin before she takes his phone and walks into the precinct. “Hello Lu, this is Captain Benson, you wanted to speak to me?” She asks.
“Captain Benson, yes. I confirm that Y/n was here last night but she was acting off.” Lu says.
“Off how?”
“Well she wasn’t acting like herself, unsteady, barely spoke to me, looked…confused.” He explains. “She bought 2 energy drinks and a peanut butter protein bar. That’s normal…but she bought a green energy drink, she never buys green, always red or orange. And she bought the biggest size and started drinking it immediately.”
“You’re sure she never buys green?” She asks.
“Positive. I even commented on it, made a small joke. She didn’t even react to it, just paid, started drinking it and left.”
“Did she do anything else or say anything?”
“No. She didn’t speak to me or made eye contact. Captain, she’s here multiple times a week, something was wrong with her last night.” Lu says.
“Thank you Lu, you’ve been incredibly helpful.” She tells him and then hangs up. Olivia sighs before she looks at the whiteboard and then back at her office. She walks back to the door where Fin is still standing and hands him the phone. “She was trying to hydrate herself last night.” She says and that gets Jake’s attention. “Lu said she got 2 green energy drinks and a peanut butter protein bar.”
“Peanut butter?” Jake asks and they both look at him. “She doesn’t like peanut butter protein bars, says they taste weird.”
“Are you sure?” Olivia asks and he scoffs.
“8 years her partner, I’m 100% sure. Chocolate is her favourite, gets that one everytime.” Jake tells her. “And she never buys green energy drinks, saying they’re too sour.”
Olivia looks at Fin with a knowing look and he sighs. She walks in her office and looks at the one way window and sees you rubbing your temples.
“She makes a run to a place she goes to all the time, but gets the details wrong.” She speculates.
“What do you mean?” Jake asks and Olivia turns around.
“She knew where to go, what to buy…but her judgment was impaired.” She tells him and then looks at Fin. “We need that tox screen back fast.” She says.
“I’ll go see where they’re at.” He tells her and then leaves.
“She was drugged?” Jake asks and he looks at her.
“It’s a possibility.” She says. “If she was, do you know anyone that might target her?”
“That’s a long list, Captain. We’ve put many criminals behind bars. I’m sure them and maybe some family members aren’t happy about it.” He says.
“Maybe you can help with something.” She says as she goes to her desk and opens her laptop. “I’m going to show you some footage, if anyone stands out or if you notice something wrong, let me know.” She explains and he nods. She then pulls up the footage from the bar and turns her laptop around before she pushes play. She watches as Jake watches it intensely, watching for anything.
“The bartender is acting a little weird.” He notes and she walks around her desk and looks at the bartender. “He hasn’t looked at her once since she sat down at the bar.” He comments. “Wait.” He then says and pauses the footage. “Zoom in right here.” Olivia zooms in and moves to where he wants it. “She looks familiar. I think she was a family member of someone we recently locked up.”
“Alright, thank you. We’ll speak to the bartender and get the identity of this girl.” She tells him. “Anything else you notice?” She asks and he shakes his head. “And what if I fast forward to around 9pm?” She says as she fast forwards a couple of hours.
“She’s being quite touchy with this girl, she’s not normally like that.” He says. “She’s quite spacey and unbalanced. She lost her balance right there, no wonder she put her arm around the girl.” He comments and Olivia looks at the footage. She remembers that one witness mentioned you put an arm around the victim.
“Thank you, this is really helpful.” She says and then closes her laptop.
“None of this is her, Captain, this isn’t Y/n.” He comments. Then there’s a knock at the door and Fin is there with a piece of paper.
“The tox screen is done, they found traces of GHB in her system.” Fin says and Jake’s eyes widen.
“How strong?” Olivia asks.
“Low but present. Lab says the window for ingestion is around late evening-early night. Same window as our vic.” Fin explains and Olivia nods. Jake then turns to Olivia with a hopeful look.
“So she was drugged, she’s clear.” Jake says and Olivia shakes her head.
“No, she’s not clear yet.” Olivia tells him.
“How is she not clear?”
“Because drugged people can still move, can still make choices.”
“But it does change the angle.” Fin says and Olivia nods.
“Ya.” Olivia agrees as she gets up.
She walks over to the one way glass and looks at you. Your leg is bouncing again, you’re rubbing your temples and sunglasses are on. She now knows why you’re experiencing this and your body is clearly fighting off the drug.
“She wasn’t lying how she felt, she just didn’t know why.” She comments.
“So what now?” Jake asks her and Olivia turns to Fin.
“I still need evidence from that 90 minute window.” She tells him. “Her phone, the vic’s watch, street cams between the bar and the bodega and also where Y/n went after leaving the bodega.”
“Alright, on it.”
“Also, put a rush on that list of employees who were working last night. Go to the bar owner’s house if you have to.” She adds. “Also, take Jake to talk to Carisi. He recognized someone on the tape and I want to ID her.” She adds and Fin nods.
“Come on, man. You’re gonna help your partner.” He tells him and Jake is immediately on his feet and following Fin.
Olivia lets out a breath and then looks back at you. She had a feeling something was off with you and now she knows why. The evidence is pointing to you right now but none of it is concrete. She picks up her folder before she walks back into the interrogation room. You have your arms on the table and sunglasses still on. You look up when you hear the door open and you pull your sunglasses up onto your head.
“Back already? Bet you missed me.” You say with a small smile. She walks up to the table and places the folder on the table.
“You like making jokes don’t you?” She asks you as she sits down.
“Defence mechanism from my childhood for when I’m stressed. You get used to it.” You tell her.
“I’m sure agent Melvin is used to it.” She says and you raise your eyebrows.
“Did you look into me?” You ask her.
“A little bit, but I know of your partner because he’s here.”
“Jake is here?” You ask and she nods. “Can’t say I’m surprised.”
“There’s something I need to tell you.” She says and you look at her. “Your tox screen came back, they found small traces of GHB in your system.” She tells you and you stare at her for a couple of seconds.
“What?” You ask and Olivia sees a few different emotions pass through you. “GHB? They found a drug in my system?” You ask and she nods.
“It’s a low dose.” She says. “But enough to cause disorientation, sudden fatigue, memory gaps.” She explains.
“Well… that explains a lot.” You tell her.
“Still doesn’t explain a few things though.” She tells you and you lean back. She pulls out a piece of paper. “You’re the last person who was seen leaving with our vic, your DNA is under her fingernails, you have a 90 minute window unaccounted for.” She explains. Olivia looks at you and sees you processing the information. She closes the folder, puts her hands on top of it before she takes a deep breath. “I believe you didn’t feel right last night, but I need to know what happened in that missing window.” She says, voice softer than it was a few seconds ago.
“I want to know as well.”
“I need you to try.” She says, voice a bit more stern. You lean on the table and put your hands on your temples, close your eyes and take a deep breath.
“I did go to the bathroom last night, it’s a bit fuzzy but I remember going.” You tell her.
“Ok, that’s good. When was it?”
“It was before I got really tired I think.” You say. “I was still tired but not a lot. And when I came back, Emma was talking to someone.” You say.
“Who? Can you describe her?” Olivia gently asks.
“They were laughing, face is blurry.” You tell her and rub your eyes as you try to remember. “There was something on her hand, a ring. I saw it when she tucked her hair behind her ear.” You say. “Same hair colour as me.” You then say and open your eyes. “I’m sorry, I can’t remember anything else.”
“That’s alright, that’s good enough for now.” She says.
“What time is it?” You ask her.
“Almost 10.” She tells you.
“This isn’t looking good for me, is it? All the evidence you have, it’s pointing towards me right now, right?” You ask her. “You don’t have to answer, I see it in your eyes.” You add and she raises her eyebrows. “I’m good at reading people too.”
“It’s complicated right now. You’re not in the clear as a suspect.” She says and you lean back in your chair. “But I’m not ruling out the possibility that you might be a victim as well.” She adds and she sees your eyes widen slightly. You both then hear 2 knocks on the mirror.
“You’re being summoned again, Captain.” You tell her.
“I get that hearing you were drugged isn’t pleasant news, but I do need you to try to remember something else in that 90 minute window.” She tells you.
“I put my arm around her.” You then blurt out and she looks at you and sees your eyes are closed. “I lost my balance and she was right there. She was nice about it when I apologized.” You say. “And there was someone else with me, later in the night after I left the bar.” You tell her as you press your hands on your forehead. “She helped me up when I fell on the street.”
“Ok, that’s good. Anything else?” She asks.
“No.” You say and open your eyes. “I’m trying.” You add. “I’m trying to also remember the face of the girl that Emma was talking to, what happened in the 90 minute window.”
“Well it looks like your memory is starting to come back. Just knock on the mirror if you remember anything else.” She tells you gently and you nod. Before either of you say anything else, Carisi walks in.
“Sorry Cap, but Agent Y/l/n, was this the girl you saw talking to Emma?” He asks as he puts a picture down in front of you. You look at the picture and you tilt your head. You then close your eyes and try to remember her.
“It’s still fuzzy but the hair is right.” You tell them. “They were laughing together, I asked, asked them if they were friends.” You then say.
“You talked to her?” Olivia asks and you nod.
“Same voice later that night in my ear. It was soft and gentle. She picked me up and picked up the items I had in my hand and told me to go home.” You say. “They weren’t friends though, Emma said she came up to her.”
“Ok, that’s good.” Olivia says and you look at her.
“I wish I could remember more.”
“I know, we all do. But we’ll work with everything you gave us.” She tells you. “I’m going to get you something to eat. Something easy to digest and it might help your body work against the drug.” She says and you nod slightly.
“Captain Benson.” You say and she looks at you. “Is Jake still here?” You ask and she looks at Carisi.
“Ya, he’s still here. He’s insisting on staying here.”
“Maybe you can get him to pick me up something to eat. He’s probably filled with worry and doing something to help, helps him feel better.” You tell her and she nods.
“Alright, I’ll do that.” She tells you and then they both leave. “Ok, do you have anything else?” She asks him once they’re out of the room.
“We got the list from the bar owner and we’re trying to contact the bartender. Fin is thinking of going to his house if he continues to let the calls go to voicemail.” He explains and she nods. “Fin told us that she has GHB in her system, is she still our prime suspect?”
“For now.” Olivia says. “But from what she’s saying, she might not have been the last person to see our vic. Which is why I need footage from that 90 minutes.” She tells him as they go into the precinct.
“I gathered footage from the bar that our vic went to that was down the road from Y/n’s apartment.” Fin tells her.
“I’m watching it now.” Amanda chimes in. “At the moment she’s mostly just having some fun. I’m about 10 minutes in.”
“Is she showing signs of being drugged?” Olivia asks.
“No, but she did just finish her drink.” Amanda says.
“Fast forward about 10 minutes.” Olivia says as she goes over to Amanda and looks at the footage. Amanda fast forwards and presses play. They both watch it for about a minute and then Olivia sees it. “There, she lost her balance and grabbed her head.”
“So she was drugged at the second bar?” Amanda asks.
“Someone else drugged her because agent Y/l/n was at the bodega at that time.” Carisi says and Olivia nods and then she looks up and sees Jake coming in with a cup of coffee.
“Agent Melvin, I have a job for you.” She tells him and he nods.
“Y/n wanted me to ask you if you can get her something to eat, something easy to digest and to help her get the drug out of her system. As well as something that she likes.” Olivia tells him.
“I can do that, I know the perfect thing, I’ll get it right now.” He says and then leaves the precinct and Amanda gives an amused look.
“He seems to love doing things for her.” Amanda comments.
“They seem to be close partners.” Carisi adds.
“People, focus on the case.” Olivia tells them. “Fin, go to the bartender’s house and bring him here. If there’s anyone that can answer our questions it’s a bartender.” She tells him and he nods before he walks out. “Carisi, keep working on finding footage from the 90 minutes. Amanda, try and see when someone might have spiked her drink.” She instructs them.
“Oh, captain.” Amanda says and Olivia looks at her. “Our vic had flashes of the rape. She said it was someone with Y/n’s hair colour but couldn’t remember the face.”
“Ok, if she remembers anything else then let me know.” Olivia tells her before she goes back to her office. She closes the door, sees you walking around the interrogation room and then she sits at her desk. This is a much more complicated case than she thought. Before she can do anything, she hears you knocking on the window.
“If someone is there, then I need to use the bathroom.” You say and she sighs. She goes over to the door and looks at you.
“Come on, then. I’ll have to go with you.” She tells you. You walk over to the door and you see her office.
“Nice office, better than my captain’s office. Definitely has a woman’s touch.” You tell her and you both walk out.
“You know you don’t have to comment on everything, you can keep your opinions to yourself.” She says and both Amanda and Carisi look up.
“I could, but there’s more fun in saying it.” You say and she shakes her head. A minute later you reach the bathroom and you go to the first stall as Olivia waits in the bathroom, by the door. You come out a minute later and go over to the sink. “Wow, I look like shit.” You say and Olivia raises an eyebrow. “I’m much better looking than this.”
After you dry your hands, you go back to the sink and place water in your hands before bringing it to your hair. You start finger brushing it and try to untangle knots. You’re able to get it mostly in control and then wash your face to get all your smudged makeup off.
“There I look better and my bladder feels better.” You say as you turn around. Olivia gets a look at what you normally look like and raises her eyebrows. “What do you think? Do I look better?”
“You don’t look like you got drugged anymore.” She tells you.
“So that’s a yes then.” You tell her and she crosses her arms. “Do I have to go back to the interrogation room?”
“For now. I know it’s not the most luxurious place but it’ll have to do for now.” She says.
“I’ll have to get a massage after, that chair is so uncomfortable.” You say and then you follow her out. You get out to the precinct when you grab onto the wall and she turns around. You close your eyes as the memory of you coming out of the bathroom comes to your mind.
“Are you ok?” She asks and you cover her mouth with your hand and try to focus on the memory. You then get flashes of you and Emma talking and then leave the bar together.
“We did leave the bar together.” You say and Olivia takes your hand off her mouth and looks at you. “She said it was still early for her and the girl from earlier invited her to another bar.” You mutter out and Olivia furrows her eyebrows. “I told her to have fun and then I left.” You finish and open your eyes. You open them to see Olivia looking at you intensely and she was closer than you thought.
“She went to another bar with the girl that you saw her talking to earlier?” She asks.
“Maybe. That’s what she said, I don’t know if she did.” You tell her and sigh.
“She did.” You both hear and look at Amanda. “Or at least, she went to another bar and she’s been talking to the same girl for half an hour.”
“I have to go back to the boring interrogation room now, don’t I?” You ask and Olivia nods.
“Yes, but don’t worry, Jake is probably getting your favourite meal.” She confirms and then leads you to the interrogation room.

Mine - Part 62
Pairing: Melissa Schemmenti x Reader
Summary: The Schemmenti's in the month of August!
Warning: Mentions of smut
Words: 9.7K
You knock on Amelia’s door and she looks up at you. You walk in with the envelope you got a few days ago and sit on her bed. Amelia puts the book down that she was reading and sits up as you hand her the envelope.
“I got you something to give to Mamma tomorrow for her birthday.” You tell her and she opens the envelope and gasps after a few seconds.
“Really?” Amelia asks and you nod. “Do you think she’ll like it?”
“I think she’ll love it, especially if she gets to do that with you.” You say and she hugs you.
“Thank you, Mommy.”
“No problem, sweetheart.” You tell her and then you walk out after she hides the envelope.
The next morning, Melissa wakes up as she’s been ambushed with kisses all over her face. She giggles as she sees it’s you kissing her. She then grabs your waist and pushes you down on her and you gasp.
“What a way to wake up.” She says.
“Happy birthday to you-”
“Oh god.” She complains and you giggle. “Please tell me you’re not gonna try to cook me something.”
“After the Mamma’s Day disaster? Not a chance. I’m not an idiot.” You say and she smiles. “But I know the kids are excited to give you their hand made cards.” You add.
“Are they already up?” She asks and looks at the baby monitors on the dresser.
“No. I thought we might have an hour to ourselves before they wake up.” You tell her and she raises an eyebrow.
“And what exactly are we going to do in that hour?” She asks.
“Whatever you want, birthday girl.”
“Hm, well how about we start with your head between my legs and then end up with me pinning you to the shower wall.” She says.
“I like that idea.”
An hour later you both finish getting dressed and see all the kids are still asleep. Melissa looks at her phone and sees it’s 6:30. The sun is up but all of them are still passed out.
“How they can sleep with the sun in their face, I will never understand.” She mutters out.
“They must have been really tired. They were spending most of the afternoon and evening playing outside with their toys.”
“I guess. I suppose we should go wake up the little critters.”
“I got it!” You both hear and turn to see Amelia there.
“How long have you been standing there?” Melissa asks.
“About a minute.” Amelia says before she goes running down the hall, banging on the bedroom doors of her siblings. “Everyone up! It’s Mamma’s birthday!” She shouts and Melissa facepalms.
“I guess that’s one way to do it.” You say while laughing.
All the kids come out of their bedroom and run into your bedroom and ambush Melissa in a big group hug. All 5 of them were jumping and shouting ‘happy birthday’ all at the same time to her. You take your phone out and record the entire thing instead of helping Melissa.
“Thank you my bambini. How about we go downstairs?” She suggests and they all hold on to her and drag her towards the stairs. You end the recording and send it to the Abbott group chat before you follow them.
You all make it downstairs and all the kids hold out their cards for her to take, all except Amelia. You sit down on the loveseat as they all dragged her to the couch. Melissa takes their cards and then looks at them all one by one.
“Oh Caty, this is such a great family picture, and you even included the Cheek’s family.” Melissa says and Caty nods. “I love what you all drew for me.” She tells them all. The two sets of twins then calm down and you look at Amelia. Amelia looks at you and then she takes a deep breath before walking forward.
“This-um- this is for you, Mamma.” Amelia says and hands the card and envelope to Melissa. Melissa looks to see Amelia fidgeting and not making a lot of eye contact. Melissa opens the card and smiles.
“Happy birthday, Mamma. Love Amelia.” Melissa reads with a smile. Melissa then opens the envelope and pulls out the gifts. You all watch as she reads it for a second and then gasps. “You got me 2 Eagles tickets!” She exclaims and Amelia nods.
“I was hoping we could go together, if-if that’s ok.” Amelia says and Melissa puts a hand over her heart before pulling Amelia into a hug.
“I would love to go with you.” Melissa tells her. While hugging her, Melissa glances at you and sees you’re recording it with a smile. She pulls back from the hug and looks at all of her kids. “Thank you so much for all these wonderful cards, I feel like the most loved Mamma in the world.” She says to all of them. “Now how about you all help me make breakfast?” She announces and they all get excited and run to the kitchen. She looks at you and tells you to sit beside her, so you do.
“You are definitely very loved by all of them.” You tell her and she smiles.
“I really am. I also wanted to thank you for the Eagles tickets that you gave Amelia.” She says.
“It was nothing.” You say.
“How did you get such great seats? I didn’t see a chunk taken from our savings.”
“I know a guy.” You tell her and she raises an eyebrow. “Or at least, you know a guy.” You add and she laughs.
“I’ve got such an amazing wife.” She says and then places a kiss on your cheek.
“Mamma, I thought we were making breakfast!” She hears Nico yell.
“Go on, our herd of little Schemmenti’s are really excited to cook with you.” You say and she places another kiss on your lips.
“Thank you for giving me this memory with Amelia. I honestly can’t wait to go with her.” She tells you before she goes to the kitchen.
30 minutes later and there’s eggs sandwiches being placed on the table. You see that there’s a poached egg, bacon and dairy free cheese in them.
“We all helped Mamma with breakfast.” Caty says and you smile.
“They did, I had 5 amazing little helpers.” Melissa says.
“That’s amazing.” You say and then look at Melissa. “So I was thinking we could go wherever you want and then to a diner for dinner.” You tell her and Melissa smiles and nods.
“Sounds like a plan.”
“Where are we gonna go, Mamma?” Amelia asks and then all the kids are asking her the same question at the same time.
“Mmm, maybe we could go to the Franklin Institute.” She suggests and you raise your eyebrow.
“That’s definitely an interesting choice.” You tell her.
“What’s the Franklin Institute?” Nico asks, mouth full of food.
“It’s a big science museum.” Melissa explains. “And also don’t talk with your mouth full, Ometto.”
“Sorry, Mamma.” He says after swallowing.
2 hours later, everyone is piling into the car and you and Melissa are doing up car seats. Then you both get in the front seats and Melissa looks in the mirror.
“Ok. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 kids. We got them all.” Melissa says and then turns on the car.
You get there and Melissa goes up to the front desk person to pay while you keep the kids from running away.
“5 kids and 2 adults please.” Melissa says and then takes her card out.
“Are they all yours?” The woman asks and Melissa nods. “5 kids is a lot.”
“Ya, they usually make it feel like there’s more.” Melissa jokes as she pays. She pays and then goes back to her family. “Alright, bambini, let’s go.” She announces.
When they walk through to the big exhibit room, all their eyes go wide. Nico, Caty and Amelia run to one place and Nico pushes all the buttons he can see to watch what they do. Caty is listening to Amelia read the information while the toddlers are touching everything in sight.
“This is so cool!” Nico exclaims as he continues pushing all the buttons. You then look to see the toddlers are looking at the giant heart and then they start running towards it.
“Uh oh.” You say and Melissa looks at your line of sight.
Melissa immediately runs after them but they get inside before she catches them. You then see Melissa looking at the heart and taking a deep breath before she goes in. She doesn’t want to go in there but knows they won’t come out unless she goes in after them.
“Mamma look!” Mia exclaims.
“It feels so weird, Mamma!” Bella exclaims.
You just chuckle as the toddlers are gonna be in there for at least 5 minutes before Melissa can get them out of there. You look back and see Nico is touching everything and pushing all the buttons while Caty is silently looking. Amelia is doing two things, reading about it and then pushing the buttons.
You happen to glance at the heart and see 2 little ginger toddlers running out and Melissa running after them. You laugh as Melissa slows down when they’re in your range and you see her catching her breath. The toddlers end up joining Nico as he’s the one making stuff happen with the buttons. They see him pushing a button and then a noise or a light happens. They put it together and then they start pushing the buttons as well.
“I’m starting to regret this idea.” Melissa tells you.
“I think this was a great idea, they’re having fun.” You tell her. “Why don’t you go spend time with them and I’ll stay here in case anyone decides to take flight.” You suggest. She nods before she places a kiss on your cheek and then walks towards her kids.
“Mamma, check this out!” Caty exclaims.
“Mamma, look what happens when I push this!” Nico yells excitedly. You see Amelia finishes looking at everything and then she walks over towards you.
“Not having fun?” You ask her.
“I am, I already looked at everything and pushed all the buttons.” She tells you.
“What are you nervous about?” You ask her.
“The dance camp.”
“Why? You’ve been nothing but excited about it since we signed you up a month ago.”
“I am excited but I’ll be away from everyone for a week.” She explains and you nod.
“That’s understandable. But you’ll have so much fun and make so many new friends. By the time the week is done then you won’t want to come back when we pick you up.” You tell her. “And if you miss us then give us a call when you can. And don’t forget that we’ll be there at the end of the week to watch the dance routine.”
“I know all of that but the longest I’ve been away from you both is a night. This will be 6 nights.”
“I know, and we’re all going to miss you too. I might have to stop Mamma from driving there and dragging you home before the week is up.” You say and she laughs.
“That does sound like something she would do.” Amelia says with a smile.
“It is something that I’m sure she’s already thinking about doing and you haven’t left yet.” You tell her. “Just enjoy the family time today and tomorrow morning when we get to dance camp, you’ll see how fun it’ll be.” You add and give her a side hug.
“Thanks mommy.” She tells you as she hugs you back.
You all walk to another exhibit and all the kids run away to go look. You see Nico going to push all the buttons again to see what they do. Caty is looking carefully and Amelia is reading the information as it’s above Caty’s reading level. You take a quick selfie with Melissa before she goes to spend more time with the kids. Like before, you stay behind in case anyone tries to make a run for it. You doubt they will as they’re too interested in everything to look at and touch but you don’t want to take any chances.
3 hours later, the toddlers are cuddled up into your lap as you sit on a bench. It seems they ran their little hearts out until they ran out of energy. Melissa sees them sleeping on you and turns to her other kids.
“Alright you three, we should go as the toddlers need their nap.” She tells them and they all turn to see them sleeping on you.
When you get home, you both bring the toddlers upstairs while Amelia opens the backyard door for Elena. You tuck them in and then you both go downstairs to see the other 3 talking about the institute.
“I’ll go make lunch, how about you go watch something with them.” Melissa suggests and you nod before you go to the living room.
Melissa ends up making grilled cheese for lunch. She’s gotten better with dealing with fake cheese, and knows she should put it in the microwave for about 10 seconds before cooking it so the cheese melts like it should. When lunch is almost done, you go upstairs to wake the toddlers and come downstairs with them. You all end up continuing to watch the movie while all eating your grilled cheese. Nico, to no one’s surprise, grabs a second one right after finishing his first and is only able to eat half of the second one. Caty takes the second half of it and eats it as she only has room for half of another one.
“So which diner should we go to for dinner?” Melissa asks you.
“Well it’s your birthday so you get the final vote, but I was thinking of the diner where they sell vegan milkshakes.” You tell her.
“The one that’s a 5 minute drive?” She asks and you nod. “I like that diner, and it’s a good idea to go to one that gives dairy free options. Never want Caty to feel left out.” She says and you nod.
“You know, Amelia is nervous about being away from us when she goes to camp. Maybe you can talk to her tonight. Reassure her, and maybe promise you won’t drag her home against her will.” You say and she nods.
“I’m not gonna drive there before camp is over.” She says very unconvincingly.
After lunch and the movie, you all go outside in the backyard and Melissa is playing soccer with the toddlers while you’re playing catch with the oldest kids. You see Melissa running around and wonder if she’ll fall asleep before the kids tonight.
After an hour it was getting too hot to stay outside so you decide to go in before anyone passes out. Inside you and Melissa bring juice and cups over and everyone has a glass.
“Tesoro, are you done packing everything?” Melissa asks and Amelia nods.
“What are we gonna do before dinner?” Caty asks.
“How about we play a board game?” You suggest and everyone quickly agrees. “Mia, want to be on my team?” You ask as she’s right beside you and she nods.
“Stellina, want to be on Mamma’s team?” Melissa asks and Bella nods excitedly. While you all play, you end up sitting on the floor with Amelia while Mia is sitting in your lap and Bella is sitting on Melissa’s lap.
4 hours later you’re pulling up at the diner and you get all the kids out before going inside. There’s a few people eating inside and a couple in line waiting to be seated. The couple gets seated and then the person asks you how much.
“7 people.” Melissa says.
“Ok, follow me please.” The lady says. You and Melissa pick up a toddler each before you all follow the lady. She brings you to a circular booth and the older kids get in first. You and Melissa then get in and place the toddler you were carrying, beside you. “Alright, here’s your menus and someone should be along to take your order shortly.”
“Thank you.” You tell her and then she leaves.
“Ok, let’s see what they have for you kids.” Melissa says as she grabs one of the menus.
“Oh, they have chocolate chip pancakes.” Amelia reads and Nico looks at her.
“They do?” He asks and she nods.
“Ya, it says it right here.” Amelia says.
“I can’t read yet.” He tells her.
“She’s right, they have them.” You confirm.
“That’s what I want.” He then says.
“Alright, that’s one kid down.” Melissa tells the table. “What does everyone feel like having? There’s pancakes, burgers, chicken fingers, waffles, eggs and sausage, French toast, grilled cheese, soups.” Melissa reads. You see there’s a lot more but she was mostly saying ones that they would choose.
“Chicken fingers.” Bella says.
“Ok, that’s 2.” You say. “Caty and Mia, what do you want?”
“Are there any burgers without cheese?” Caty asks and you go over the list of burgers.
“Yep. They have a BLT. Bacon, lettuce and tomato.” You tell her.
“I like that, I want that.” She says.
“What about you Mia?” Melissa asks her as Mia is right beside her.
“French toast.” Mia says and you nod.
“Hello, my name is Mira and I’ll be your waiter today.” Mira says as she comes with a tray of water. She places a cup of water in front of everyone and Amelia goes to drink hers right away. “Can I get you started on some drinks?”
“Yep, 5 chocolate milkshakes, one of them vegan, and 2 chocolate milks.” Melissa says and Mira writes it down.
“Alright, and do you know what you want to order?” Mira asks.
“Amelia, do you know?” You ask and Amelia nods. “Ya, we know what we want.” You confirm. “Chicken fingers and fries, one BLT, French toast and I’ll have a classic burger and fries.
“I’ll have a chicken wrap.” Amelia says.
“And I’ll have a Philly cheesesteak.” Melissa tells her.
“Alright, I’ll be back with your drinks.” Mira finishes writing and then leaves.
“I can’t believe you’re leaving tomorrow for camp.” Caty tells Amelia. “Who will I have to play with now?”
“Wow, I don’t feel sidelined at all.” You say.
“You and Mamma are ok, but it’s more fun with Amelia.” Caty tells you and you raise your eyebrows.
“More fun?” Melissa asks.
“You don’t understand how we like to play.” Amelia explains and Caty nods. “It’s only for a week, Caty. How about you make up a storyline and we’ll do it when I get back?” Amelia suggests.
“Ok! I’ll make up the best storyline.” Caty says with a smile.
“Why are you leaving again? Last year you didn’t leave for a week.” Nico asks.
“It was a different camp, it was a day camp last year.” Amelia explains.
“And here are your drinks.” Mira says as she appears with a tray full of drinks. She places the tray down carefully and starts taking the drinks off. She takes the chocolate milk off first and Melissa takes them. Melissa takes two sippy cups out of her purse and opens them. She then begins pouring the chocolate milk into the sippy cups.
“You brought Mia and Bella’s sippy cups?” You ask and she nods.
“Better safe than sorry.” Melissa says.
“Who’s getting the dairy free chocolate milkshake?” Mira asks.
“Me.” Caty says and Mira hands it to her. Melissa is about to make sure but then sees a note on the tray where the dairy free one was, confirming which one it was. Mira then takes off the other milkshakes and passes them around.
“Your meals should be here in about 20 minutes.”
“Thank you, Mira.” You tell her and she nods before leaving.
“Alright, you two, now you can’t spill your drinks this time.” Melissa says and then passes the sippy cups to Bella and Mia. You take a sip of your milkshake and see that Nico is practically chugging it.
“Might want to take your time, sweetheart. Might get a brain freeze or a major sugar rush.” You tell him and he stops.
“Sorry.” He says.
“This milkshake is really good for being dairy free.” Caty points out. “Mamma, taste it.” She adds. Melissa leans forward and takes a sip of the milkshake.
“You’re right, it tastes almost exactly like the ones with dairy.” Melissa agrees and then takes a sip of her own shake.
*15 minutes later.*
“Mia.” You warn and she pulls her hand away again. She then reaches over slowly to try and touch your shake cup. This time she’s looking directly at Melissa while doing it instead of you. “Even while looking at Mamma, I can still see you.” You tell her and she pulls back her hand again with a smirk.
Bella suddenly stands up in the booth and starts jumping at Melissa. Melissa puts her hand up to defend herself against toddler chaos. Melissa looks to see Nico is bouncing in his seat and Caty is talking quickly to Amelia who’s giggling. She looks over to see Mia is trying to touch things on you now, at the moment it’s your necklace.
“Mia, sit down.” You say.
“Bella, stop jumping on me.” Melissa tells her. She then hears Nico is sipping the last drops of his shake and he looks like he’s about to burst from his seat. “Oh no.” Melissa says as she realises they all reached a sugar high. Nico then goes underneath the table and crawls out. Melissa manages to get Bella to sit just as Nico starts running around. Melissa is immediately out of her seat and starts chasing him. “Nico, get back here.”
You see that Nico is running as fast as he can and Melissa can’t keep up. He’s making his way near the table so you quickly get up and manage to cut him off and grab him. Melissa catches up a second later and she’s catching her breath. You look back at the table to see Bella is on her feet, jumping in place, while Mia is touching everything in sight. You look to see Caty is talking at a rapid pace to Amelia and Amelia is giggling at everything.
“What fresh hell did we cause?” Melissa asks.
“It was your idea to get them all chocolate.” You remind her.
“Ya, and I immediately regret it.” She tells you as you both get back to the booth with Nico.
“Now stay put.” You tell him.
You see him bouncing in his seat again and he starts tapping his hands on the table. You look to see Melissa placing her head on the table in defeat and Bella starts to slowly climb on her back.
“Food is here.” You hear and you all look to see Mira with a giant tray on wheels. “Alright, and here’s the chicken wrap.” She says first and Amelia sits up straighter and smiles as she moves the shake over. Mira hands her the chicken wrap and Amelia smiles. “The classic burger with fries.” She continues as she hands the plate to you. “BLT. French toast. Chicken fingers. Chocolate chip pancakes. And lastly, a Philly cheesesteak.” Mira finishes as she puts the last plate down in front of Melissa. “Is there anything else you need?” Mira asks.
“No thank you, this is great.” You tell her.
“Enjoy your meal.” She says and then leaves.
All the kids have stopped trying to cause chaos as the food is distracting all of them. Melissa tears the chicken fingers into little pieces for Bella as you cut up the French toast for Mia. Nico grabs the syrup from the middle of the table and starts pouring it all over his pancakes. Caty grabs the ketchup and carefully pours some next to her fries, making sure it doesn’t touch her sandwich or her fries. Amelia has already started eating her chicken wrap, she didn’t waste any time.
Caty puts the ketchup down and then Melissa reaches for it and pours some for Bella next to her fries. She then pours some on her own plate for her own fries and hands it to you. You take the ketchup and you pour it all over your fries.
“I never understood why you pour it all over instead of dipping them.” Melissa says and you look up.
“I like it better when it’s spread out on the fries instead of all at the end of the fry.” You tell her and she rolls her eyes at you.
The booth is then quiet for the first time since you sat down as everyone is stuffing food into their mouths. You and Melissa both take a bite of your meals, knowing you have 5 minutes of quiet.
After eating and paying for the meal, you all leave the diner and head to the van. It’s a little harder to get the toddlers to sit still as you do up the car seats as they’re very wiggly right now. You both manage to get it done and take a breath. You see the older twins are on their iPads and Amelia is on her phone, all of them distracted.
Once you get home, they all run inside and you see Elena doesn’t even question it, just starts running around with them. You and Melissa go to the couch and just sit down as the kids continue running around downstairs. You know there’s not much you both could do for the next 4 hours. That’s when the kids will hit the sugar crash and hopefully crash with it.
“Have you thought that maybe we should get another loveseat?” You ask over all the screaming.
“I have. 5 kids who will grow bigger and they’ll start inviting friends over a lot. We definitely are starting to need the extra room.” Melissa says.
“I was thinking we sell the one we have and then we get a matching pair.” You tell her.
“That’s definitely an idea.”
“Oh, actually we sell the couch and the loveseat and get a matching set.” You say.
“What? We’ve had this couch for 10 years though.” She complains and you look at her.
“And it’s starting to look like it.” You tell her and she pouts. “We’ll get another couch that’s similar.”
“But this couch has memories. We got it when we got married and you were sitting on it when you were in labour with Nico and Caty.” She explains.
“And we’ll make new memories with the new couch.” You say and then give her a kiss before she says anything else.
“Fine.” She gives in and you smile. “You can’t just keep kissing me to win an argument.” She adds as she grabs the remote.
“Then stop giving in after I kiss you.” You counter. She rolls her eyes at you before she puts on Frozen. All the kids stop running and screaming and look at the tv.
The next morning, Melissa and Amelia are upstairs packing last minute items while you get the rest of the kids ready to go. You tie Caty’s laces up just as they’re coming downstairs with Melissa carrying Amelia’s suitcase.
“I just know you’ll have so much fun there.” Melissa tells her. “I’m sure it’ll be exactly what we talked about last night.” She adds.
“I hope so.” Amelia says.
“Ready to go?” You ask them. Melissa looks at Amelia and Amelia takes a deep breath before nodding.
You get all the kids in and then you get in the driver’s seat. You managed to convince Melissa that you’ll drive there as you don’t want her to turn back around halfway there. You’ll miss Amelia a lot as well but you know she’s growing up and needs to do things by herself more and start exploring the world. You get to the camp 45 minutes later and park. You all get out of the car and you hold the hands of the toddlers as you all walk in.
“Hello, are you here for camp?” The lady asks and you nod. “What’s your name?”
“Amelia Schemmenti.” Amelia says and she looks at the list.
“Ah, yes, I have you right here.” She confirms. “I can lead you to where you’ll be sleeping right now, after you say goodbye.” She adds.
Amelia turns and looks at all of you. Melissa leans down and immediately wraps Amelia up in a big hug. All the kids then follow suit and run to her to do a big group hug.
“You’ll be back in a week right?” Amelia asks Melissa.
“We won’t be a second late.” Melissa confirms. “We’ll be cheering so loud as you dance as well. We already can’t wait to see it.”
Amelia nods and then she looks at you. Caty gets out of the way and then Amelia runs into your arms. You wrap her in a big hug and place a kiss on top of her head.
“I’ll miss you so much sweetheart.” You tell her.
“I’ll miss you too, mommy.”
“Mamma is right. We won’t miss the chance to watch you dance. We’ll be here as early as we can so we can get the best seats.” You say and she nods. “I hope you have so much fun and I love you.”
“I love you too, mommy.”
“I love you, Tesoro. And don’t forget to call us.” Melissa says.
“I won’t. And I love you too, Mamma.” Amelia says and then Melissa places a kiss on her forehead.
Amelia then grabs her suitcase and starts rolling it as she walks towards the exit. She turns around before she walks through the door and waves at you all. You all wave back at her and then she walks out, door closing behind her. You hear Melissa let out a loud breath and you look at her.
“Kids, I think Mamma needs a hug from all of you.” You tell them.
All the kids look at you before looking at Melissa. They then walk forward and all wrap their arms around Melissa. Melissa lets out a breath before she gets down on her knees. All of them then get even closer and she wraps her arms around all of them.
“Thank you, my bambini.” She says. “How about we go to the toy store?” She suggests and they all cheer.
Once you get to the toy store, they all run around, looking at all the toys on the shelves. The toddlers get carried away with touching everything while Nico and Caty scan the shelves. You grab Melissa’s hand as you both slowly walk.
“How are you feeling?” You ask her.
“Not great.” She tells you. “This is the longest we’ll be apart from her since she was born.”
“Not exactly true.” You say and she looks at you. “Remember 3 years ago when I was pregnant with our youngest twins?” You ask and she nods. “I had to go on emergency maternity leave and I was told to stay off my feet 2 weeks before summer break. You were burning yourself out taking care of me, the kids and going to work. So to make sure you didn’t collapse…”
“We sent the 3 kids to your parents' place for a week.” She finishes and you nod. “That was such a quiet week. I hated it.”
“So did I. But we made it through and before we know it, we’ll be going to watch Amelia dance and then bring her home. But for now, we have 4 other kids to focus on.” You remind her and she nods.
“Mommy, Mamma, look at this. They’re really small.” Caty says and you both walk over to her.
“Oh, Polly Pockets. I used to play with those.” You tell her as you pick up a set.
“They look like little Barbies.” Caty tells you and you smile.
“They do, and are very fun to play with.” You say.
“I think I remember my siblings talking about them.” Melissa says as she looks at them. She then looks at her other kids and takes off. “Mia! Bella! Don’t touch that!” She yells.
“I think I want to start playing with Polly Pockets. They look like they’re more fun.” Caty says.
“Alright, we’ll get you a couple sets and dolls today and you can see how you like them.” You tell her and she smiles. “Pick 2 sets that you want to start with.” You add and she takes a good look at all of them.
“Mommy! Look at this tiny guitar I found.” Nico says as he comes over to you.
“Oh, that’s a ukulele.” You say as you look at it. He holds it to his body and then he strums all the 4 strings and giggles.
“Can I get it? It looks fun!” He asks you.
“Alright, you can get it.” You tell him and he lights up. “You’ll probably drive us both mad.” You mutter so he doesn’t hear you.
“I want these two sets.” Caty tells you and holds two up.
“Alright.” You say.
“Caty, look. It looks like that science game you were playing.” Nico says and Caty looks over. They both run to it and Caty looks at the pictures.
“Woah! This looks cool.” She says as you go and join them.
“Alright you two jailbreakers, stay with one of us.” Melissa tells Mia and Bella.
You all leave the toy store an hour later and each kid got 2 new toys to take home. You know at least one toy from your toddlers will be played with for a week and then forgotten. You all get home and the kids take the bags and take out their toys.
“I want to do a science experiment right now!” Caty exclaims.
“I can’t get my toy out!” Bella complains.
“My ball is flat!” Mia says.
“How do I play the ukulele?” Nico asks.
“I’ll go get the scissors, and a pump.” You say as you disappear in the kitchen. Melissa smiles at all the complaints since the house is still loud and chaotic.
“Alright, Dolcezza, Stellina and Carina, put your toys down so we can get them out of the packaging. Ometto, I’ll show you something you can play in a bit.” Melissa tells them all.
An hour later, you’re doing an experiment with Caty, Mia is playing with her mini basketball, Bella is dressing up her new doll, and Melissa is teaching Nico a small part of a song.
“Alright, sweetheart, safety goggles on and stand back.” You tell her and you both put your safety goggles on.
Caty steps back as you put the last ingredient in and then step back as well. The contents in the jar start fizzling and then it starts getting higher and higher and fizzles right out of the jar and onto the tray. Caty watches it with a smile and you look to see her beaming.
“That was so cool!” She exclaims and you smile. “I want to do another one!”
Melissa looks over and she takes a picture of Caty with a huge smile. You both haven’t seen her this excited about something in a while and you both love how happy she is.
“Alright, how about a liquid solution that will inflate a balloon without air?” You suggest as you’re reading through a list of experiments from the kit.
“Yes! Let’s do that right now.” She tells you.
“Ok, so this string and then this string. And put your other hand here.” Melissa instructs Nico.
“Score!” Mia exclaims as she got the basketball in the mini hoop.
“I wonder what hair style goes right with this outfit.” Bella says as she looks at her doll.
At night, you finish putting Caty and Elena to bed and you walk out. You slowly close the door and then you look over to see Melissa standing in Amelia’s doorway. Amelia’s door is open and Melissa is staring at her empty bed. You walk over to her and wrap your arms around her waist.
“I miss her too.” You say.
“I haven’t heard her voice in 12 hours.” She tells you. “When she was at your parents place, we talked to them 3 times a day.”
“You know, she’s probably having the time of her life.” You tell her. “She’s probably making friends with everyone there, doing all sorts of activities, having so much fun dancing.”
“I know she probably is.” Melissa says with a sigh.
“Come on, let’s go to bed. You’ll feel better tomorrow. And who knows, she might call us.” You say and she lets you lead her to bed.
Amelia did end up calling you in the morning after she ate breakfast at camp. She only had a few minutes but she was saying how much fun she had yesterday and everything they’re doing today. She also mentioned a couple girls that she’s sharing a room with and they were swapping stories last night.
Throughout the week, you’ve both been going out and doing things with your 4 kids, mostly to distract Melissa. The kids aren’t complaining as they’re all places that are super fun and they’ve been chaotic at each one.
On Friday night, you noticed it was taking her a while to put Nico to bed so you went to check on her. When you open the door, you see that she’s passed out on his bed, with her arms wrapped around a sleeping Nico. You also see there’s a book on the bed that she must have been reading to him. You go over to the bed and pick up the book before putting it away. You then go over to the bed and pull the blanket over them and then turn off the light and close the door.
On Saturday night, you see she’s in a good mood since you’re going to see Amelia tomorrow and to pick her up. In fact she was in such a good mood that she ambushed you when you were walking to the bed and kissed you hard. She then pushed you on the bed and climbed on top of you with a grin and lust filled eyes.
On Sunday morning, she’s in the kitchen making breakfast and you come down with the kids. You hear singing coming from the kitchen and you smile and shake your head.
“Is Mamma singing?” Caty asks.
“Sounds like it.” You tell her. “How about you all go play, I’ll see how long until breakfast.” You add and they all run to their play areas. You go into the kitchen quietly and see Melissa at the stove. She’s cooking breakfast and singing with a smile. “What an angelic voice.” You say and she whips her head up at you.
“How long have you been standing there?”
“About 20 seconds.” You tell her and then go up to her. “I take it you’re happy that Amelia is coming back home today?”
“Ya, it felt different without her here this week.”
“Ya, it did.”
“So I’m making breakfast, which should be done in 5 minutes, and making cookies as well to celebrate her return from camp.”
“I’m sure the kids will absolutely love it.” You say. “Also I’m driving to the camp. I don’t want you taking the rules of the road as suggestions.” You add as you give her a kiss on the cheek before you go into the living room.
You all pull up to the camp 6 hours later and get out. There was someone there directing people where to go for the dance routine so you followed the directions they gave. The performance doesn’t start until 12:30 so you’re there 30 minutes early but Melissa insisted on leaving early. You make it to the room where the performance will take place and find 6 seats in the front row.
You get the kids set up with toys to occupy them as you’ll have to wait for half an hour. All of a sudden you hear Melissa yell and she’s up out of her chair in a second. You look over to see her collide with Amelia in a big hug. You stand up and you walk over to her.
“I missed you so much, Tesoro.” Melissa tells her.
“I missed you too, Mamma.” Amelia says and then she pulls away before hugging you. “I missed you as well Mommy.”
“Oh, I missed you too sweetheart. The house wasn’t the same without you.” You tell her.
“I have to go stretch before the dance routines but I just wanted to come and see you both.”
“Well we appreciate that, we’re always happy to see you.” You say.
“Now go stretch so you don’t pull a muscle. And I’ll be recording you dancing, my little superstar.” Melissa tells her and Amelia smiles before she runs off.
Half an hour later the show begins. Amelia was in the second row but you were able to see her clearly. At one point you had Bella on your lap and you pointed to Amelia to show her that her sister is up there.
“Sissy!” She yells out and a few parents look over but don’t say anything.
You all watch Amelia dance with a smile on her face. You see her moving quickly, spinning and being in sync with everyone else.
When the song is over and all the kids bow, Amelia starts coming over to all of you. She doesn’t make it all the way as all of her siblings ambush her with a hug. You stopped recording the video you took and quickly sent it to the Abbott crew group chat.
On the way home, Amelia was excitedly telling you all about everything that happened at camp. She told you about the activities they did, the friends she made, the stories the other kids told.
At nighttime, Melissa goes into Amelia’s room to read to her like always and finds Amelia passed out on her bed. Melissa is a bit disappointed as she loves reading to Amelia, how she cuddles into Melissa as she reads. She goes over to Amelia’s bed and pulls the blanket over her and gives her a kiss on the forehead. She turns her light off and then looks at Amelia again before closing the door.
“Are you not reading to her?” You ask as you’re just coming out of Caty’s room.
“She was passed out on her bed.” Melissa explains and you hum.
“So I was thinking that on Wednesday we can go shopping to get all the school supplies that our kids will need.” You say as you both walk to the bedroom. “Give Amelia a few days rest and to get settled back at home before getting her to think about school.”
“Sure, sounds good.” Melissa tells you without looking at you.
“What’s wrong?” You ask and she looks at you.
“Nothing, it’s fine.” She says and you get on the bed and open your arms, inviting her to cuddle on you. Melissa sighs before she gets in the bed and immediately clings to you.
“What’s going on in that beautiful head of yours?”
“Well, I guess I’m a bit disappointed that Amelia fell asleep. I was excited to read to her again and have her cuddle into me.”
“I know you missed her.” You say and move her hair out of her face. “But look at it this way. She had so much fun at camp that she passed out.”
“I know.”
“And she’ll cuddle into you tomorrow night as you read to her. And the night after tomorrow, and the night after that, and the night after that.”
“You’re right.” She tells you. After a few minutes you look at her face and see she fell asleep, cuddled into you. You carefully reach over to turn off your lamp before you fall asleep yourself.
On Wednesday at noon, you bring all your kids to the store and go to the school supply aisles. Melissa has the 2 supply lists in her hand and she puts her glasses on, ready to start reading them. The toddlers are both in the cart, looking at everything they can attempt to touch.
“Amelia won’t even need a few things on here.” Melissa says and you look at her.
“Unless you’ve done lesson plans for the entire year then you don’t really know.” You say and Melissa looks up at you.
“I know because I’ve been teaching second grade for 25 years.” She counters. “Why would they need 5 glue sticks?”
“To glue things.” You immediately say.
“I know that, but they don’t need that many glue sticks. They’ll need 3 at the most.”
“Alright, Amelia, pick a binder.” You say, ignoring Melissa at this point.
Amelia looks at all the binders and picks a glittery pink one and puts it in the cart. She then goes to get a colour coded organizer for it and puts it in the cart as well.
“Alright, all of you need duotangs. Amelia you need 4, and Nico and Caty, you need 2.” Melissa says.
“What are duotangs?” Nico asks.
“Annoying folders.” Amelia says and then walks over to them. Amelia immediately grabs a green, a red, a yellow and a blue one.
“Do we need specific colours?” Caty asks Melissa.
“For kindergarten, no.” Melissa tells her.
Caty ends up grabbing a green and a blue one while Nico grabs a red and a black one. You walk over and grab 5 stacks of line paper and add it to the cart. The 3 kids will need one stack each and you and Melissa need one for your classrooms.
“Alright, now comes the fun part, you get to pick pencil cases, pencils and erasers.” You tell them all and Amelia raises an eyebrow the same way Melissa does.
“You have a very different definition of fun than we do, Mommy.” Amelia tells you.
“Oh come on. It is fun. You three get to pick what colours you want, what design you like, any fun shapes.” You say with a smile.
“Let’s go see what they have.” Caty says and they all start walking down the aisle.
“You were enjoying that weren’t you?” You ask Melissa and she smirks.
“Definitely.” She says and you roll your eyes. “If it makes you feel better, I’ll have to deal with her attitude all day. In the classroom and at home.”
“That does make me feel better actually.” You tell her before you follow your kids. Melissa pushes the cart forward as Bella and Mia are looking around and trying to grab everything.
“You three don’t need 50 snacks to bring to school, pick three things.” Melissa tells them half an hour later.
“But Mamma, we want everything.” Nico complains and Melissa rubs her temples.
“Just 3 things.” She says sternly and they all huff before they all talk about what snacks to choose. They all end up choosing one each and they put it in the cart.
5 minutes later you pull out your phone as the kids start questioning Melissa as to why they have to get so many fruits and vegetables and not more snacks. Melissa looks up at you at one point and sees you casually playing on your phone instead of helping her. She’s not that surprised as you seem to enjoy watching the chaos instead of helping her.
“For the last time, you got your unhealthy school snacks but you need something healthy to eat as well. Also, most of these I use for dinner. So zip your traps.” Melissa tells her kids.
“But Mamma!” They all complain and you smirk as all 3 start talking to her at once.
“No, I said zip it, or no cookies later.” She threatens and they all stop talking. The 3 kids then start walking and probably plotting something while Melissa walks over to you. “You could have helped you know.” She says and you look up at her as you both start walking and you push the cart.
“I could have, but it’s more fun watching.” You say with a smile and she rolls her eyes. “If you wanted someone to help you with the chaos then you should have married someone who doesn’t enjoy watching chaos.”
“Why would I do that? They sound boring.” She counters and you chuckle. “Looks like we just need to pick out some school bags.” She says as she looks at the list.
“Then let’s go.” You tell her before you go catch up with your kids.
5 minutes later you’re all in the aisle with the backpacks and your 3 oldest are wandering up and down the aisle, looking at all the options. You’re on your phone, standing next to the cart, near Bella and Mia so they don’t grab anything. Melissa is pointing out all the pros and cons of each backpack to the kids.
“This one has a car on it, I want that one.” Nico points to one.
“It’s not a very useful backpack.” Caty tells him.
“I don’t care about it being useful, it’s cool looking.” He tells her and then grabs the car backpack. He brings it over to the cart and you take it from him and put it in the cart.
“Look Mamma, a Barbie one.” Caty says and Melissa takes it and they look at it together.
“This looks like a great pick, Dolcezza.” Melissa tells her and Caty takes it with a smile and gives it to you to put in the cart. “See one you like, Tesoro?”
“I don’t know, Mamma.” Amelia says and Melissa looks at her.
“Is everything alright?”
“I don’t want the mistake of getting one that might be too…childish.” She tells her and Melissa furrows her eyebrows.
“What do you mean too childish? It’s a backpack and you pick one you like.”
“But Mamma, if I get one like Caty did then the other kids might not like the pick because it’s for kids.” Amelia explains and Melissa sighs. Melissa has seen this many times, second grade is when they start to think about fitting in with everyone.
“Tesoro, you get one you like without the worry about what your classmates and friends will think. Also your friends will respect your choice if they’re your true friends.” Melissa tells her and Amelia looks at her then looks back at the backpacks.
“I-I like the purple one with the pink ballerina shoes and music notes.” Amelia says and Melissa smiles before she grabs it.
“$600?” Melissa complains as she puts her card in the machine. “Your kids are getting more expensive every year.” She mutters to you and you snort.
“They’re yours as well.” You counter as you put the bags in the cart and she takes her card out.
“And they’re damn expensive kids.” She says as she takes the receipt from the cashier. “Let’s go bambini.” She tells her 3 oldest as they were watching a YouTube video on Amelia’s phone.
At home, Melissa was chasing Bella and Mia while complaining that she’s too old for this, and you help the other 3 get their school supplies ready.
“So you’ll need to put your pencils, erasers, scissors, your small ruler, the whiteout and the pencil in your pencil case.” You explain and they all grab their supplies before loading up their pencil cases.
“Ok, let’s switch, I need to work on my cardio.” Melissa tells you as she catches her breath. You smirk before you get up. You poke her ribs by surprise, earning a squeak from her and you laugh. She secretly flips you off before you go play with Mia and Bella and she goes to help the 3 with the supplies.
Later that day, all your kids are running around outside, playing whatever attracts their attention. You and Melissa are on the porch swing, your head on her chest and arms wrapped around her waist. Melissa is mindlessly playing with your hair as you both watch your kids.
“Do you remember how it was before the kids?” She randomly asks.
“Barely.” You tell her.
“It was quiet.” She says and you feel her twirl a strand of your hair with her fingers.
“It was, there wasn’t 5 kids making noise.”
“Ya, I much prefer the noise. The quietness was…too quiet.” She tells you and you look up at her. She drops your strands of hair and looks at you.
“Is something on your mind?” You ask her.
“3 kids are going to be at Abbott, 3 of my own kids.” She starts and she glances at them before looking back at you. “I never thought I’d ever get to say that. I never thought I’d get to say that I have a child, let alone 5.” She says and takes a deep breath. “Amelia is 7 and a half and yet sometimes it still doesn’t feel real that the family I always wanted, that I always dreamed about, is real. I mean I was 40 when we met, I thought I wouldn’t get that family.”
“Does it almost not feel real that they all love you as well?” You ask and she nods.
“I never knew if I’d be a great mom or not.”
“I knew you would be.” You tell her. “I knew before we even got together that you’d be a great mom.”
“How would you know that?”
“Are you forgetting that I was your aide?” You ask her and she chuckles. “I saw how you were with your students. You’re so enthusiastic and optimistic with them. You love storytelling because you get to do silly voices and listen to them laugh, you love when they smile when they get their tests and assignments back and see that you put a sticker. You make sure they all have something to eat because you don’t want any of them to be hungry. You get school supplies from one of your guys if one of your students needs it and their parents can’t afford it. You care so much about your students even though they’re not yours.” You tell her and she looks down. “That’s your maternal side and instinct, and I saw it everyday. So when you told me that you want kids, I knew you’d be an amazing mother. And I was right.”
Melissa smiles before she kisses your forehead. You both hear your kids laughing and you look to see all 5 of them playing soccer. Amelia is goalie, Mia and Nico are a team while Bella and Caty are the other team. Melissa wraps her arm tighter around you and you lean your head back on her chest.
*10 days later*
“So what sound does a dog make?” Melissa asks Bella and Mia.
“Woof woof.” Bella says and Melissa smiles.
“That’s right, Stellina.” She says and Bella attacks her with a hug. “Woah!”
You come through the front door with the 3 oldest and Melissa looks at you all. You see Bella is on her lap while Mia is pressing buttons on the animal book.
“Well, 3 kids, zero cavities.” You exclaim and Melissa smiles.
“That’s a shock. With the amount of sugar you chocolate addicts eat, I was expecting at least one.” She teases and you roll your eyes.
“Also, Amelia has another loose tooth, her last front tooth.” You announce and Amelia nods.
“It just started becoming loose but the dentist noticed.” Amelia says with a smile. “That means $5 in about a week or two.” She adds and you raise an eyebrow at Melissa.
“She was bragging about it the entire trip home.” You say and Melissa laughs.
“Mamma, look how clean my teeth are!” Nico exclaims as he runs up to her and smiles widely, showing her all of his teeth.
“Woah, they’re so shiny.” She tells him.
“Look at mine, Mamma!” Caty says as she runs over and shows her teeth.
“Oh my god, you both have such shiny teeth!” Melissa says and they both smile proudly. “And just in time to start school next week.” She adds.
“Do you and Mommy have to go to work tomorrow?” Nico asks.
“Ya, we do. We have to get the classrooms ready for everyone.” Melissa tells him and you look at the 10 boxes beside the front door.
“And you get to play with kids all day at daycare for the week.” You tell him and Melissa nods.
“So you can bug other kids that aren’t your sisters.” Caty says and high fives with Amelia.
“Don’t team up against your brother.” You tell them.
“Then what’s the point of siblings?” Amelia immediately asks.
“You guys are definitely Melissa’s kids.” You say and Melissa smirks. “Stop smirking.” You add and sit on the couch. Elena immediately jumps up and lays her head on your lap and you start petting her.
Later that night you and Melissa slip into bed after putting the kids to bed. You go on your phone as Melissa lays down and gets comfy.
“Put your phone down and come be my little spoon.” She says and you look at her.
She gets on her side and pats the spot in front of her while looking at you. You shake your head with a smile before you plug in your phone and lay down. Melissa immediately wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you right up against her. You hear her hum happily and you smile.
“You seem happy right now.”
“I am. All my kids are asleep and I’m comfy in bed while cuddling my wife. Also it’s just past 9 so that’s almost 8 hours of sleep.” Melissa tells you.
You turn around in her arms so that you’re both face to face and you look at each other. You give her a kiss before you nuzzle your head in her chest. She tightens her hold around you before you both fall asleep.

Just want to say that if anyone goes to see Lisa on Heathers, if you record her on the show and post it here then I will write any Lisa fanfic you want. I really want to go see her but I can’t afford it right now 😢
So I decided to start a small series of Agatha and Reader on my patreon where reader is Wanda's little sister. The first chapter is available to everyone and the second chapter will have early access for paid members. Here's a small snippet with the link at the bottom. Not edited in the slightest and I hope you like it!
The Baby Sister - Part 1
Pairing: Agatha Harkness x Reader
Summary: After Wanda introduces you to Agatha, Agatha makes a plan to get closer to you.
Warnings: Mentions of era homophobia
Words: 3.9K
You were walking up the path to Wanda’s house and you hear voices coming from the house. You go up to the house and it sounds like Wanda is in there talking to another woman. You knock on the door and a few seconds later Wanda opens the door.
“Hey Y/n, come on in.” Wanda tells you and you step aside and see the other woman sitting on the couch. “Agnes, I’d like you to meet Y/n, she’s my little sister.” Wanda introduces you and you give her a wave. Agnes gets up from the couch and walks over to you.
“Hello dear, I’m Agnes. Aren’t you a pretty girl.” She tells you and heat rushes to your cheeks.
“Oh, um, thank you.” You tell her and she smiles.
“You’ll have to excuse her Agnes, she’s a little shy around new people.” Wanda says.
“Well that’s alright, she’ll get to know me. Especially since I’m your neighbour and pretty involved with the community.” Agnes says. “Do you live close by?” Agnes asks you and you nod.
“I live 4 houses down on the right that way.” You say and point which direction your house is in.
“Well, I’m sure we’ll get to know each other very well.” Agnes tells you. She then says goodbye and leaves you two be.
“Agnes is pretty out there, but she’s a lot of fun.” Wanda tells you.
“I can see that.” You tell her. “I came by to see how you’re settling in.” You add.
“I think we’re doing pretty good so far. Let me show you around.” She says and you nod.
Agatha gets home and sits on the couch. She wonders if Wanda having a little sister will make things easier. She’s a pretty girl and it seems like Wanda is pretty protective of her. Of course after losing a brother, she must be very protective of her other sibling. She goes over to the window 30 minutes later and sees you leaving. Maybe she can get close to you at the same time as she gets close to Wanda. She magics a pie into her hands and sees you stepping into your home. She goes out and walks over to your house and knocks on the door. You open the door a few seconds later and you’re surprised to see her there.
“Oh, hi Agnes.” You tell her and she smiles.
“Hi Y/n. I found a pie in the fridge I made earlier today and thought about sharing it with you. And maybe get to know each other.” She tells you and you give her a small smile before you step aside to let her in. 5 minutes later you’re both sitting at the dinner table and having a piece of pie and some tea. “So you live here by yourself?” She asks and you nod.
“Wanda wanted me close so her husband bought it for me, which was really sweet of him.” You explain and she hums. “Do you have a husband or do you live by yourself?”
“I have a husband but he’s almost never home, so it’s like I live by myself.” She says. She watches as you grab your tea and you look at her before looking down at your tea as you take a sip. “I hope I haven’t made you uncomfortable in any way.” She tells you and you shake your head as you put your cup down.
“You haven’t. I was always just the shy, quiet child in the family.” You tell her and she nods. “Do you have any siblings?”
“No, I’m an only child, which I quite liked as I got all the attention.” She says and you let out a small chuckle. “How do you feel about your sister getting married?”
“Well I’m happy for her, she loves Vision and he makes her happy.” You say. “This pie is delicious, but I should stop or else I won’t have room for dinner.” You add and she smiles.
“I’m glad you liked it. Is pie your favourite baked food?” She asks and you shake your head.
“My favourite baked food is actually banana bread and a close second favourite is chocolate cake.” You tell her. “But I’ll never say no to any food.” You add and she lets out a chuckle.
“How about tomorrow, we have dinner together at my house?” She asks you and you smile.
“Sure, I’d love to.” You say.
“Excellent. I’m looking forward to seeing you.” She tells you. “Have a great evening dear.”
“You as well, Agnes.” You tell her as you walk her to the door.
You shut the door and you have a smile on your face. Agnes is being so nice to you and you have a feeling that you’ll be great friends with her. Wanda insisted you move to Westview with her, and she said it’ll be perfect for you. It’s a small but close community and the chance to make friends. Plus she’s there and she’d love to have you close to her. Maybe Wanda is right about being able to make new friends here, a fresh start. You let out a breath before you go to the kitchen and get started on dinner.
Agatha walks out of her house and sees two guests enter Wanda’s house. She then goes back to her own house and looks out her window and sees what’s going on in Wanda’s house. She gets a call from Wanda about 30 minutes later and goes over to her place with a bunch of food. She goes over all the instructions to Wanda as Wanda keeps trying to get her to leave. She’s almost out the door when she turns back to Wanda.
“You’re sister is lovely by the way, I had tea with her and we’re having dinner together tomorrow.” She tells her and it throws Wanda off guard for a couple of seconds. She then hears voices from the living room and it snaps her out of it.
“I’m really happy that she’s making friends.” Wanda says and then Agatha leaves. She’s definitely going to make friends with you if it makes Wanda concerned.
