I'm proud to stand Face Forward. I can't believe this idea has gone from idea to launch in exactly 60 days! Face Forward is officially launching today (Friday, October 28) at TEDxMileHighWomen in Denver, Colorado where they’ll be asking women to go make-up free for the conference to stand with us to end violence against women. MORE SHENANIGANS <> There are some who will try to convince you, "If you live your life fully you shouldn't need a vacation." To that I call BS! Vacations, getaways and adventures out of the ordinary are the very things that recharge the spirit, they change you in ways your regular life, no matter how enlightened or cinematically lived ever will. Cells shift, new neural pathways ignite, and providence moves. An opportunity to experience magic in its purest form. I have my mom and dad to thank for this great teaching. MORE NECESSARY <> Mercury is in retrograde and autumn is upon us. And I’ve been thinking a lot about what’s necessary - the absolute musts and wants. There’s one thing that I’ve been putting off, that I know I simply must do. It will change everything. Simply taking the first step will make me lighter, freer, more available for everything else. And still I procrastinate. Getting up the gumption, the guts, to do it? ARGH! I get ready, psyche myself up, get “this” close. And I stop. Not anymore. MORE CHANGE <> It’s AUTUMN! Well, not officially, but the sun is setting earlier, rising later, the leaves are falling, and air just feels different. As summer makes its dramatic shift into fall, turning the leaves into blazing colors of red, yellow and orange, it always seems to feel like it’s time to ignite something new. Creating. Re-creating. I think this is why I’ve always loved the fall, despite that everything begins to wither and die. As the old makes way for the new, my thoughts turn to all the more I want to create. Mother Nature is such a beautiful teacher, always offering great reminders of what exactly it takes...to live. Creation requires change. No matter what, something must shift, alter, vanish, re-birth. MORE GOOFY <> I was having a conversation with @yoee_baby about the importance of play and how playing from day one is so important. But it's made me think about how important it is now. As an adult I think I'm playful but I don't really "play". I party. I laugh with friends. I surf. I run. I take @theclassbytt. But good old fashion play? Like twirling on the swings? Like food fights? Like making funny faces? The kind of silly-ness that makes an adult say, "Behave yourself!" I need more of this in my life. Just goofing off, raw silly-ness! Sooooo needed! MORE BEGINNINGS <> This week we’re getting a double whammy of opportunity to do-over, rebirth, start over, begin anew. No wonder I’ve been feeling like I want to throw my hands up in the air and scream, “I QUIT!” Entering Mercury Retrograde on Tuesday and the eclipse of the new moon in Virgo today ignites the desire to let go of everything that isn’t adding to the joy, freedom and fulfillment you seek. I’d forgotten about the magic and lessons the heavens can provide. Such a beautiful reminder that here at the beginning of fall as we return from lollying in the summer sun, we can hit the do-over button and start fresh. But this is an inside job, work that can only be done through self-inquiry. I sometimes feel like I’m Barney Rubble, my little legs churning and churning as fast as they can trying to catch up to my mind that's living so far ahead of me... it's exhausting, the striving to get there. I get so caught up, I forget the truth of the matter. The living doesn’t happen in the past or the future, the living is happening right f-ing now! MORE AWARENESS <> Inevitably life is going to get wonky, feel scratchy, and sometimes plain ole downright suck. It’s life. It’s not all sunshine and puppy dogs. Sometimes it rains. Buckets. Where do you go when that happens? Are you the strong one who stays in the room, the courageous one who faces the outcomes, the consequences, your own feelings of shame, guilt, fear? Or do you run, hide, ignore, lose yourself in something or someone and pretend it doesn’t exist? I do all of those things. Facing my mistakes, facing myself and my shortcomings is not my cup of tea. Staying in my body, connected to my self, my soul, is so f*cking hard, and also one of the most valuable lessons I’ve ever learned. Simply being aware of the fact I was running and hiding in the first place has made all the difference. MORE SPACE <> I love this time of year - bright red leaves, back to school, hot days and cool nights, warm fuzzy sweaters, boots, and the perfect pair of jeans. I kind of feel like September 1 is the new January 1. A time to reassess, take stock, cleanse anything that does not make you say or feel that special “hell yeah!” In the last eight months you have changed, expanded, grown more than you realize. What made sense back then when you bought it, thought it, felt it, might not make sense now. It’s human nature to hold on - it’s the ego’s way to keep us safe. I’ve actually found myself throwing everything in the “toss” pile, assessing only based on how it makes me feel. If it’s not a “hell yeah” it’s gone. When I look at it. Really look at the weight, the stuff, the emotions, it’s amazing how much of it has such little value, taking up precious time, space, energy, and attention. I find I hold on so tightly, for what? More space can sometimes be scary. Freedom is scary. While I don’t believe in the dogmatic "less is more” concept as a way to live, I do believe in its power to create ease in the release. I know from experience, once you make space, you up level your ability to create. Thoughts, ideas, feelings, your new sense of self, and even a few special items that bring your heart delight. MORE TRUST <> I've given my ego a bad rap. Today in @theclassbytt with the amazing @thisisnatalie I realized who my ego really is... she is simply all the wounds I've gathered like a breast full of medals. Layers and layers, growing heavier and heavier. But they are not me, they do not define me, and I am not them. My ego is my greatest protector. She just needs to know it's safe, she's loved, she belongs. So today, I'm asking you dearest ego, take my hand. Trust me. MORE TRUST <> Trusting your intuition, your soul, the universe is like having a super power! Letting go of the addiction to freaking out and trying to control the situation is hard. I've been working on this very thing with my surfing. Last year while in Tahiti on a surfing trip, I freaked out (to put it mildly) in the water and have dedicated myself to working through the PTSD this summer. There is no better place to practice trust than in the ocean, for you will never control her, and the more you freak out, the more fun she has tossing you around. I have learned how to trust myself. That I am powerful and I am strong. And this has only gotten stronger by learning from @lisafabrega to listen to my soul, trusting in my intuition, and knowing I will always be stronger than I think I am. #moreplease #soulwhispering #surfing (at Venice, California)
