forgive me if this is rude, but you might want to tell your friend that your place is a please-don't-bring-your-boyfriend zone! years ago i didn't realize i wasn't getting invited to see certain friends bc my partner and i are joined at the hip & i was really grateful when i understood.
aw i don’t think you’re being rude! the thing is my house really isn’t a “please-don’t-bring-your-boyfriend zone”. i invite my friends over with their partners all the time!
this friend specifically knows that i find her boyfriend absolutely insufferable and understands why i feel that way, and i invited her over for a girls night 😭 i still would never seek to exclude anyone! if my husband is free we will hang out or go on a double date outside of the house, i’m kind to him because i know he’s important to her. but he isn’t particularly welcome in my home for several reasons and she’s aware that i feel that way!
it’s still not truly that big of a deal for me, i’m just on my period and being dramatic, i didn’t actually tell her not to come lol i just asked her to please not bring him and now we’re playing resident evil and giggling about it. this is more so a situation where i’m feeling overly frustrated by a generally moody day rather than me never wanting my friends to bring their important people around. but i am sorry that happened to you and i appreciate you advocating for more communication!! unfortunately i communicate to everybody all the time, you cant shut me up 😔✌️
