Okay, but super curious now. What kind of path have people’s fibre arts journies taken?
For me it’s cross stitch -> tatting (only mild success) -> weaving (rigid heddle -> inkle -> 4 shaft) -> spinning -> knitting.
I did technically also do sewing in middle/high school but I don’t count it because I didn’t enjoy it enough to stick with it.
Next one I learn will either be bobbin lace or crochet, but that last one will be probably be kicking and screaming because I have to join my blanket squares together, rather than actually wanting a new hobby. Or maybe dyeing fibre with food colouring, but that depends on when I get my kitchen back from Renovation Hell.
this IS a fascinating topic. For me it goes cross stitch -> embroidery -> knitting -> needlefelt -> crochet!
I picked up cross stitch in in my early teens because i found an old cross stitch canada goose at a yard sale and thought it was awesome. Then an aunt got me a bunch of embroidery stuff, and a different aunt taught me how to knit. A Different aunt showed me how to needlefelt (by far one of my favorite things ever, btw, highly reccomend) and now im teaching myself to crochet (with the help of some friends who know what the heck they're doing lol) AND i met this wonderful elder on a bus and we chatted a bit and they're gonna show me some of their quilting stuffs! So i might get into that this year too.

SO. I went to barnes and noble today.
AND I FOUND IT!!! ITS REAL AND IN MY HANDS AND I OWN IT AND I CAN LOOK AT IT WHEN MY INTERNET DIES!!
Genuinly so excited to crack open this badboy, i Love the psychic murderslime dungeon so much, and we get to officially meet Tess and Dainix and now i get to experience this story in a different form and look at all the pretty pretty colors (in my hands!!) and cry about some of my favorite fictional characters :DDD
@comicaurora thank you so much for sharing this story with us!!!
an old photo
if you work in a creative field...or if you do creative hobbies like writing or drawing...you need to make friends with people who don't do those things. you need to befriend normie Steve who has never written a story in his life. and this is because when you are in a creative job or hobby and spend all your time doing that thing, surrounded by very capable people, who you inevitably compare your own progress and skills to, you forget what the baseline human skill at that thing is. and it's usually zero. normie Steve has not written a story since the 3rd grade when his teacher made him do it. he's very good at other things that are not storytelling - but if you tell normie Steve that you wrote a full 300-page book from start to finish, he will think you're some kind of savant. he does not know ANYONE else who has done this. you need this perspective. because when you're constantly on Let's Write Stories dot Com then everyone on Let's Write Stories dot Com will inevitably be like "oh of course everyone on earth has written a book or several at this point!" and you canNOT let yourself think that. that is not even close to the average human experience. you are in a bubble. do not put yourself down. do not give up.
Needed to hear this today.
When the manga that your friend said would make you sad does something that makes you sad.
when your brother decided to take off by himself unattended without you knowing but the police found him and gave you a warning or they'll call your parents next time
(wanted to draw them in the lilo and stitch scene bc its one of my faves and Henry and Benji are so Nani and Lilo coded LOL)

misolanious @comicaurora brain worms
if there is a character turn around sheet i would kill a small child for it. Dainix's scars are so confusing

PRETTY COLORS PART 2 ELECTRIC BOOGALOO
HI my brain has been melting out my ears (and hiatus ends soon!) so lets go taste some other pretty colors in Aurora right before chapter 6 begins!
The first panel in the whole comic. All the colors, all blending into white BECAUSE AURORAS ARE MADE OF LIGHT AND WHEN ALL THE DIFFERENT LIGHTS MIX TOGETHER - *i scream as im dragged away* COOL DETAIL. Rainbow sorbet. Tasty. (0.1.1)
THE GREEN ON THIS ROCK. The way it glows is so awesome i love lighting like this. Tastes like green apples and sour gummy worms and good mold. All the life magic is actually so tasty looking. (1.9.2)
OKAY SO THIS CHAPTER ACTUALLY HAS SOME OF MY FAVORITE PANELS EVER? LIKE MY MAN LOOKS SO HYPE HERE. This whole fight slaps actually. Orange juice and possessed grape soda. (1.17.33)
This panel actually physically pains me. Oh alinua my moldy cotton candy princess, the green on purple is just *chefs kiss* (1.18.6)
idk why, this particular panel just makes me happy. my boy is upside down. The desaturated colors while everything is underground and dark AND the choice to have the eyes just be like.... glowy and pretty i love it when people make artistic liberties with their comics, free will is so awesome. Tastes dusty but in a good way. (1.20.6) (also the choice of just... whenever there is an actual light the desaturation effect goes away and the shadows look like normal shadows. it tickles my brain in good way. one of my favorite parts of arc one is the murder dungeon)
I LOVE THE GREYS AND ORANGES. IT LOOKS PRETTY!!!!!!!! Also the background in this particular shot??? GORGEOUS. TASTES LIKE PAPRIKA. The next time you read aurora pay attention to the backgrounds they always look sick as all heck. (2.4.31)
I LOVE THE COMPOSITION HERE IDK WHAT TO TELL YOU. The warm colors on black contrast so well, and Kendal's hair looks pretty and fluffy as always and Rakhn's cape and fire beard look so sick and the word in the background is so echoy and crunchy I can feel that CRACK in the back of my mouth. (2.4.41)
THE COVER ART FOR CHAPTER 6 OF ARC 2 OMGOMGOMGOMG I AM HYPED its coming tomorrow i think??! Colors are amazing, as always, and the WHITE over erins eye, somethings coming for you and i don't think its gonna go too well for you, the lighting is so ominous and cool! Cat boy eyes dont think i dont see those subtle extra white highlights, im really excited to find out what your whole deal with the light is, and DAINIX my man you lookin creepy as heck with your little glowy red eyes my funky little fire no-longer-a-rock man why are you on the chapter cover art??? This does not bode well. also WHERE ARE TESS AND KENDAL? WILL THE PARTY STILL BE SPLIT?? WILL ALINUA STOP HAVING GILLS AND FUNKY EYES???? so many questions. all to be answered in due time.
Suffice to say i am excited for whatever happens next. :D
this is a Christmas post for you to like and unlike over and over to see the little snowy animation they have rn

Hey kid, look at me.
I want you to T-pose. Turn your right thumb up and your left thumb doen and look at your right thumb. Move your arms up and down a bit until you feel a nerve running from your armpit to your palm. Now turn your right thumb down and your left thumb up, and look at your left thumb. Keep your chest facing forward and your shoulders back. Move your arms again until you feel that nerve again. Keep alternating between these two for a minute, or look at each thumb thirty times each.
Now sit down. Put your left hand firmly under your left buttock, palm down. Keep your shoulders back and put your right hand over the crown of your head, very gently pulling it to the right. Do this for thirty seconds, then do it again but with your right hand under your right buttock.
These are stretches for the nerves in your arms, and are very good for people who sit behind a computer a lot, or fibre artists, or you name it. Do them daily. They will hurt in the beginning, but keep doing them, even after the pain has gone, or it will return and you'll have to start all over.
whatever. go my magus
MY MAAAN! HES SO PURPLE AND SO PRETTYYYYY!!!
