There can be something so frustrating about how c!Dream can act like a piece of shit with no remorse in canon and folks scramble to read between the lines and even just straight up make up shit and try to treat their fanon as canon. Meanwhile, all the subtleties of c!Wilbur's character are ignored, and even when the man very openly and explicitly has an earnest moment of expressing his emotions, it goes whooosh right over people's heads.
