stupid cupid is at it again! at least i'll blame him because i don't know how i have the energy to be pining over someone on top of work commitments, my friendships and all of the fucking assignments i have. ridiculous.

i refuse to do any love spells, not out of a love-spells-are-bad angle but out of the fact that i really don't need a relationship on my plate rn. i also have not been very successful in previous love workings, so i think it's best to focus that energy towards myself. and most importantly, they also have a partner as far as i'm aware so... yeah no thx. a girl still pines though.

whether you eat pancakes as a quick and easy morning brekkie or as a sweet treat after dinner, you can add a little magic to the sweet treat before you.

🍋 what to add for what purpose: ✦ lemon and sugar (goated combo): lemon for purification and sugar for a bit of sweetening intent. ✦ cinnamon and sugar: for a healing treat on a frosty morning ✦ apple slices, peanut butter, cinnamon: apples for some self love, cinnamon for a little healing boost, peanut butter for the taste. ✦ maple syrup/honey/golden syrup, nutmeg and ginger: honey for attraction, maple syrup for abundance, or golden syrup for sweetening your intentions. i like to add nutmeg if i want to do some divination/dream work, and sometimes ginger if i want an extra kick. you can even draw a little sigil/symbol/rune with the syrup :p

🍯i use pancake mix most times (lazy) but there are plenty of online recipes (or maybe you can track down a relative's recipe for some ancestral workings hehe). regardless, this is a fairly simple throw-some-shit-together type of spell, those are just some of my fave combos and their correspondences. feel free to drop ur fave combos on this post, whether they have magickal connections or not i'm always looking for a good pancake combo! forever ago, emma ❦

life is getting pretty crazy, what with my work/uni life and spiritual life, and subsequently there are a lot of mixed signals floating about. especially regarding change.

i have reached a crossroads, where i am burnt out mentally, physically and spiritually. essentially, my cup is empty, and it would be best to enter a period of rest or stagnancy for the winter months. but with the scorpio moon calling for change, and subsequent divination readings begging for change, it seems as though stagnancy is not the most fortuitous option.

is anyone else currently at the same crossroads? have you been in this situation before?

🔥 rewatched fantasia as a part of my samhain festivities, twas a fun couple of days. i'm not sure if walpurgisnacht is a big thing in the southern hemisphere (as it is supposed to be the night before beltane), however hopefully this spread could aide in future samhain/beltane's eve divinations :)

the beginning of darkness: the sun has set and the veil has thinned, with darkness beginning to stir, ask yourself what troubles lurk in the shadows?

chernabog's dance: as the chaos continues and the fire swells, ask yourself what will trouble you throughout the winter season? what will cause chaos and calamity in your life?

the hail mary: as the church bells toll and the dawn breaks, what is the light at the end of the tunnel? what is your anchor?

not abandoning! so do not worry. trust when i get weekends back i will be back to crafting - and perhaps posting - some spells and spreads at my usual capacity.

i've been practicing since i was 16, since then it's been an on and off journey with my craft, but there's always been some string that attaches me to my practice. now i am almost 22, and i have been in the broom closet this entire time. i can say behind closed doors what i know i am, but speaking it to others seems to be a challenge.

my friends know i'm a bit woo woo, and i like to bring the tarot cards out at the pub on occasion, but that's about all they know. oddly enough, i am super duper content with them seeing it like that. i feel no urge to 'prove' to others who or what i am - but then again i have never been one to assign labels to myself.

at what point did you start calling yourself a witch? was it a conscious decision or subconscious? did you feel obligated to reveal it to others or was it out of pride?

🎇i recently rewatched howl's moving castle and was reminded how this grumpy lil guy is me. i am him. he's my favourite character in a movie where the main character voiced by *the* christian bale, a massive achievement.

the hunter moon has just passed and i found myself doing a lot of shadowwork, making up a lot of spreads on a whim - perhaps there will be more spreads to come.

any witch with a garden, whether it be a sprawling green wonderland or a teeny tiny little house plant, can grasp that plants of the exact same species can behave differently to their own kind.

i’m not talking about the difference between the thriving and the dying, but a general difference in what i’d consider ✨personality ✨

for example, i know of a rosemary bush that has grown in a tricky spot, but maintains a steadfast position in life. if seeking protection, i use it for a calm and collected approach. the other rosemary bush in the back yard choked out my poor lavender in its endeavour to grow (mind you it was planted a bit too close by the other green thumb i live with), i try and harness its cutthroat energy in a more baneful spell.

what about you? what have you noticed in your garden?

a meditation before bed (perhaps a mugwort tea as well) that will bring the divination answers that you seek. or idk, have a bit of a loopy dream.

💤you will need: ✦ lavender/chamomile essential oil or incense - ideally an oil you can use in an diffuser or one you can wear. either way, you should be able to smell it for most of this process.

if you plan on falling asleep directly after pls opt for a fire safe option lol ✦ a quiet moment before bed

🦉how to: ☾ sit at or on the foot of your bed, comfortably. anoint yourself with the oil, or get that diffuser going. ☾ meditate for a moment, take a few breaths to clear your head. ☾ take a deep, sighing breath, then repeat;

" i seek the truth which my dreams sow, knowing that as above is so below. remember mugwort amidst the night, all is calm, all is good, all is quiet. "

☾ continue to meditate for as long as you feel necessary to reach a calm, sleepy state, repeating the affirmation however so often you choose. ☾ you are now ready to sip on some mugwort tea :) or just drift off to lalaland whichever you choose. try to remember the affirmation as you dream, connecting the waking world to your dream. no pressure either way, after all, you are resting.

🛌 want a boost? ✹ meditate with amethyst for a deeper divination dive, or selenite if you want clarification on something. you could even sleep with it under your pillow. ✹ i like to add another touchstone just to ground me before bed, most times it will be my cat just sleeping beside me (or a stuffed toy/pillow).

🔮i like to drink mugwort because i find it helps with divination; but most sleepy time teas could be used instead. if anyone lives in aus, T2 makes a really great blend called 'nighty night' - but DNI if you don't like peppermint. i usually hate minty teas but this one isn't so bad. i <3 sleep guys it’s so good !! forever ago, emma ❦

! spoilers ahead !

i went into the theatre last night with 0 expectations and no knowledge of the plot, but was delightfully surprised at the compelling and moving story of hamnet. such a beautifully detailed film, so extra and yet so subtle, stands out from most sensationalised films made nowadays. all the nods to culture pre-christian britain, the cunning folk, witches, wise women of the woods etc were fascinating to see through a filmmakers lense. and for it to be honoured in a simple and divine form is fairly unusual.

it was a treat to watch, but i find myself envious. i have never experienced that same interconnectedness to nature as agnes, and i suppose i never will as i will never have to rely on it as much as she did. it is a bit of a wake up call as to how far we have moved away from the natural world, even in witchcraft i find consumerism still reigns supreme. not just nature, but also the power of language and storytelling, the power that words hold over us is so often overlooked (i say as i use incorrect grammar).
