summary: Going bowling with your new found friendgroup!
warning: use of Y/N, fluff, readers fav colour is pink, wears the same colour every day, outfit suggestion (just a visualisation help), being bad at bowling, this ones pretty girly honestly, not proofread!!
part: one, two, (three)
The whole week you spent your breaks with Cody and his friends. Now being your friends too. Talking about all sort of things and getting to know each other. It was great fun, honestly. They made you feel safe and seen. Nothing you ever felt in a group. Not like you had one to begin with anyway.
So meeting them tonight for bowling got you so excited. Especially your parents were excited for you. As you got ready you couldn't help but think about Cody's compliment of how good pink looks on you. He was the first guy to ever tell you that.
As you got ready you decided to wear this outfit.
Feeling cute and all you did your makeup to your liking.
Once you were all done you made your way to the bowling alley to meet them there.
The bowling alley was pretty busy that night but it just added to the atmosphere. You just knew you all would have a great time.
And oh man, you did. Everyone playing purely for the fun of it and not to make it a competition. That was so important to you. And Jesse didn't lie when he said Yvonne was a witch.
Everyone groaned as she did another stirke.
"How do you do it?", you asked after throwing your hands up.
Laughing she sat down next to you and nudged your shoulder, "Magic."
"I'm actually this close to believing that," you said as you showed her with your fingers.
Everyone laughed as Kyle threw his ball, just hitting two pins. The banter flowed easily. Laughing and talking as a group. No one was left behind and you felt so comfortable.
"Does anyone want another drink?", Cody asked the group after he finished his soda.
Everyone was pretty quick to agree and give in their orders. As he repeated them to make sure he got it right, he turned to face you, smiling softly, "Care to join me?"
You got up at an instant, "Absolutely."
With a smile he nodded towards the bar, which this bowling alley had. As you started walking side by side he turned to you.
"You havin' fun?", he seemed genuinely curious.
Smiling, you looked at him, "Yeah. Thank you for the invite, by the way."
He shook his head, "No need to thank me."
After a moment of quiet he added, "I'm glad you decided to join us."
You barely believed your two ears. He was glad? That you joined? Hearing these words made you feel butterflies in your stomach honestly.
"So am I," is all you could mumble back, avoiding eye contact.
Stopping in front of the bar, Cody slid the menu over to you.
"What ya want?"
You looked up at him, with soft blushed cheeks, "Uhm- just another Coke."
He nodded with a smile, giving the bartender the groups order. Watching him closely made you feel some sort of admiration. There was something so comforting about his demeanor.
"I love your outfit, by the way," Cody suddenly said as he turned to you.
Now you were done for. Your cheeks reddening as you didn't dare to look at him.
"Thank you," you mumbled as you slowly looked at him, "I decided to go with something more simple." Fumbling with your dress a little, he smiled.
"It suits you. I think the pink highlights your eyes," he was completely turned towards you as he said that, looking at you with such a soft expression. You just knew he meant every word.
Never did anyone ever compliment you so honest, especially not your eyes.
"Really?", you tilted your head towards him. You wanted to focus on him now, slowly not that bothered about your flushed cheeks now.
"Yes. You have beautiful eyes," Cody started blushing now too. He usually tried to flirt more subtlety but something about you made him just blur out.
"I-," your mind went blank as you laughed. "No one ever told me so. Thank you."
"Really? That's criminal," he seemed almost baffle about that piece of information. To him you were like an angel.
"Yeah... always heard quite the opposite.. well not about my eyes but me in general," you weren't sure what it was but something about him just made you spill out.
He remembered what you have previously told him. Just the mere thought of you getting bullied for how you dress made him incredibly furious and protective over you.
His eyebrows slightly furrowed, "I hope you know that that's not the truth about you."
You smiled softly and nodded, "Don't worry, I know."
"Good," he exhaled, relaxing a little, "-because I'd be damned if a pretty girl like you didn't realize how beautiful she was."
You couldn't help but chuckled, rolling your eyes as you eventually just nudged his shoulder, "You're a real smooth talker, huh?"
He laughed, playfully brushing his shoulder off, "Oh, the smoothest."
"I can tell."
"But just to you," he added so sweetly, "I mean that."
Your heart jumped several beats, just looking at him. As the bartender interrupted this tender moment, placing the drinks next to you, you had to snap out of it.
"Oh, uhm, drinks are here," you slowly came back to your senses.
Each of you took three drinks, balancing it easily as you got back to the others. Placing the drinks on the table Dani spoke up quickly, saying your name.
"I played for you and Kyle for Cody. We hope that was okay."
You chuckled, " Of course, that's okay."
Cody checked the board and saw that Kyle hit no pins in one round, "You could have at least tried to hit some pins, Kyle."
"Hey, I did try!", he tried to protest as he threw his hands up.
Everyone laughed as the group fell back into a normal banter.
Ever since the conversation at the bar, Cody and you have been sneaking looks at each other, almost blushing every now and then.
Yvonne seemed to be noticing it and decided to take on some investigations. It was Cody's turn now and he was discussing techniques with Jesse so she took the opportunity.
As she said your name and sat next to you, she got your attention.
"You're enjoy this, huh?"
You chuckled with a wide smile, "Very much so."
"I am glad. You're real fun," she said, nudging your shoulder.
"I heard getting a compliment out of you is hard, so thank you very much. I appreciate it," you nudged her back.
"Yeah, don't get used to it...," she said playfully.
Following your gaze she noticed that you were looking at Cody again. As she looked back at you she couldn't hold back anymore.
"Cody wanted to talk to you ever since your first day, you know?"
She got your attention, "Really?"
"Oh yeah. He was almost too eager. But he waited and after seeing you alone all the time he finally approached you."
Hearing her say that made you blush, mumbling softly as you looked at him, "I'm glad he did."
"So are we," Yvonne said, getting your attention back. "You like him, huh?"
You scoffed as you nodded, "I like all of you."
She rolled her eyes as she nudged you, "You know what I mean."
And you did. Sighing you looked at Cody again as if you had to consider.
You did like him. A lot. He's the sweetest and most considerate guy you ever met.
"I know," you eventually said as you looked back to her. Without saying another word you just gave her a subtle nod with a pout that said it all.
"I knew it," she quietly replied as she got even closer to mumble, "He does too, you know."
Turning your head to look at her, you couldn't quite believe it. Even though deep down you knew it too. The compliments kinda gave it away.
You looked at Cody again who watched Jesse throw the ball now.
"Yeah," you whispered.
Jesse hit a strike and Cody got so excited. Watching him celebrate with Jesse made your heart flutter, blushing like stupid.
It was like Cody felt you were watching him because he met your gaze, smiling at you warmly before looking back at Jesse again after he got called over.
"I think you should ask him out," Yvonne suddenly made you snap out of it.
Your eyes widened as you looked at her, "What?"
"You heard me. Ask him out. You two should do something alone."
She was so serious about this it kinda made you feel like she knew even more than she already led on. But it weirdly made you trust her.
"You know what?... that actually sounds nice."
"Good..," she said as she looked towards Cody, doing something that made your heart jump, "Cody! Come over here."
With joy Cody came over to the two of you, towering in front of you two sitting on a couch. "What's up?"
Yvonne nudged you and started the conversation, "Oh not much. Just chatting. But Y/N over here had a little question for you."
She looked at you, giving a promising nod.
"Right uhm-", you started and she got up to leave you two alone.
"I'll leave you too it," she mumbled as she got up.
Cody sat down where she was sitting.
"Okay... what is it?", he asked curiously, leaning his elbow on the back of the couch, facing you.
You turned to look at him. Suddenly realizing how close you two were, you had to swallow. "I- uhm- well... I was wondering.. if you wanna do something on Friday?"
"Next Friday?", he asked, probably to buy some time. You gave him a nod. "Sure. What did you have in mind?"
Your hands suddenly started sweating, "Uhm- Nothing in particular. It's gonna be nice outside so maybe something outside?"
He smirked softly, probably figuring out what this was about. "Just us?"
His question was so casual it made your heart jump.
"Uhm- yeah. Just us."
His smile was wide and made you relax a little.
"Okay....," he thought for a moment before continuing, "we could.. go out for ice cream?"
Cody cursed himself for this silly suggestion but he wasn't sure what else to suggest.
You on the other hand loved it.
"Oh my god, yes. Please tell me you know a good spot? I have been meaning to try some ice cream in this town."
Considering you just moved here, you haven't had the time to look for a good ice cream shop yet.
He was simply surprised by your reaction but showed none of it. Just smiling widely he nodded, "Oh, do I. You will love it. They literally have a flavor called pink."
You laughed at that. "What does pink even taste like?"
He shrugged, "Probably bubble gum or something."
"Oh, I definitely gotta try."
"I think you basically have too," he confirmed.
With a huff through your nose you gave him a nod. You just looked at each other for a moment before you spoke up.
"So uhm- how does 3 pm sound?"
"Great," he agreed easily, excitement rising, "so... it's a date?"
The question got out so easily, you didn't even realize you went along until it was done.
"Yeah," reality hit you and your eyes shot open. "Wait- like a date date?"
Honestly? He was glad you wanted that clarification because he needed to get it off his chest.
"If you want it to be. Yes."
Cody was kinda hopeful too. He wouldn't want to mess this up. So he said up straight, looking directly at you as he waited for an answer.
"Uh- yes- yes, I would love that," you eventually agreed.
Relief rushed over the both of you as each others grin grew wider. There was this feeling of comfort rushing over you. Something you never felt before and certainly never wanted to loose.
So it was settled. You two would go on a date together. Just like that. You two felt giggly the rest of the night.
Yvonne knew obviously. The rest just wondered what it was between you two after they noticed but never dared to ask. Sure Kyle made a funny comment but Cody just shook it off.
The night was great fun for the rest of it but all you could think about was what will happen on next Friday and what it could mean for your relationship with Cody.
a/n: the end got a bit rushed but I needed to finish this hehe... hope y'all still like this!

pairing: Max Hatter x Rapunzel&Eugene's daughter!reader
summary: The process where you and Max Hatter secretly started a thing without wanting anyone to find out.
warnings: fluff, strangers to lovers, use of Y/N, slight swearing, being secretive, kissing
part: one, two
It all began when one day you bumped into Max as you hastetly rushed out of the art classroom. All of your art supplies fell to the ground, exposing a sketch you did of him earlier today.
You felt like sinking into the ground as he reached for the sketch faster than you could. He just started at the picture before turning a little pinkish.
"Why did you draw me?", was all he asked as you snatched that book out of his hands.
"Because-"
Nothing. There was nothing coming to your mind.
He just watched you struggle, rising one of his eyebrows.
"I wanted to," you finally gave up and said the truth. Or at least some of it.
"You know, I don't mind. It's just... a bit creepy," he said with a playful smirk.
Your heart started to feel easy with that.
It was probably then that you realized, he is actually who you hoped he would be. And nothing like the rumors or accusations.
"Fair," you said as you finally met his gaze.
"I'm Y/N, by the way. Y/N Fitzherbert," you nicely introduced yourself as you held out your hand.
For a moment he glanced at your hand funny. Not expecting you to greet him this way. But he admired how you were not judging him for being a VK when you're so obviously a HK.
"Max Hatter," he said, returning the favor of a handshake.
"I know," you blurred out but instantly pulled your hand back, "uh- in a not creepy kind of way."
He couldn't help but let out a sharp scoff, a smirk appearing on his face, "Got it."
Immediate a smile spread on your face.
Quickly he gathered all of your thinks and got up, holding out his free hand to help you up.
Accepting it you let him help you up easily. The moment you held his hand again, something inside the both of you switched.
"Thank you," you softly said as he let go of your hand and gave you your things back.
"Don't mention it. Seriously," he replied in a haste and looked around nervously. "I- I gotta go," he mumbled as giggles of the Smee's and Hazel's yells could be heard.
His friends. Of course. He took off just after his words.
You thought after that interaction you'd never talk to him again. Turns out the odds were in your favor.
A little over a week later you bumped into him again. Just no things to drop this time.
"We gotta stop doing that," you said with a giggle after you two bumped shoulders near the art classroom, again.
He just scoffed and adjusted his hat, "Yeah... at least there were no things you could drop this time."
You gasped as you put your hand on your chest dramatically, "What?- You were the reason I dropped them!"
"Just because you couldn't hold on to your things," he said, pointing at you.
For a moment you felt your heart ache, thinking he was actually like his father. But then a smirk appeared on his face. You were relieved to say the least.
You couldn't help but nudge his shoulder, "That was mean."
"Guess I'm living up to what they say about me then," he said with a sad shrug.
You immediately felt bad, putting your hand on his shoulder, "Not true. Well... they do say those things about you, but I can't believe that's who you are."
Your words were true. That's what you truly believe. That he is good.
"You don't even know me," he snapped, jerking his shoulder back to let your hand drop.
Sighing you pouted slightly, "But maybe I want to."
Your truth hung heavy in his head. No HK said those words to him, ever.
It was odd but he believed you. Every word.
"Okay," he mumbled. The only agreement and validation you'd get out of him, for now.
It was all you needed.
You wanted to jump up from joy so much but you knew better.
"Great. So... let's meet here after school. It should be empty today," you suggested.
He swallowed as he nodded, "I'll be there."
He confirmed with a smile before going off again. You wondered why but then you heard his friends. That explains it.
After school you both met in the art room as promised. At first it was a little awkward but you were quick to come up with some conversation.
Initially it was just you talking but after a while he got familiar and comfortable with you.
Not only you, but he felt that comfort too. Like you two understand each other.
A weird thing for a VK and HK, he thought.
You didn't. After all it's the same for King Ben and Queen Mal.
The conversation flowed so easily at some point, that the natural light turning the room suddenly a bit darker made you conscious about your surrounding.
Surprised by that fact you two checked the clock and realised it was getting late.
"Wait, is it so late already?", he asked as he jumped to his feet.
Checking the clock on the wall a little closer you were quick to add, "Yeah. We should get going."
"Felix will be asking questions," he said nervously as he picked up his bag.
"So will Pink," you added as you grabbed your things.
"Roommates," you both sighed simultaneously, which made the two of you giggle.
Walking towards the door of the classroom, Max gracefully held the door open for you.
You couldn't help but smile to his gentleman manors.
"Thank you very much," you playfully said, but the gratitude was real.
He picked up to it and gave you a playful grin, "You are more than welcome, princess."
You couldn't help but roll your eyes at his comment.
Walking side by side for a while you eventually had to part ways. Not wanting to get caught.
"We should repeat that... like.. hanging out... talking- Alone," Max finally blurred out.
You were quick to agree with a nod, "We'll find each other."
"Yeah," the Hatter easily agreed, "we always seem to do, huh?"
"Yup," you replied smiling. "See ya then, Hatter," you added with a pretend hat bow as you started skipping away. Like literally doing happy jumps. You just couldn't help yourself.
Luckily he loved it, with a fake annoyed eye roll and a heavy sigh he started walking towards his dorm, thinking of an excuse for Felix.
Days turned into weeks where you two have been repeating this.
Meeting in secret.
Moving into smaller places, like the broom closet, due to almost getting caught in the art classroom one day.
Casual conversations turning into more serious ones.
And just conversation turning into being awfully close.
A brush of a hand turned into comforting hugs which eventually led to...
A random Wednesday you were meant to meet in the broom closet again, but you had to bring some art supplies back to the art classroom first. Coincidentally he had to pass the room, but as he realized you were in there alone, he made it his mission to scare you.
Max carefully closed the door behind him as he sneaked up to you.
You were humming songs to yourself as you put the things away. Totally unaware of your surroundings.
Just after you put some acrylic colors down, he snuck up on you and-
"BOO!", he yelled as she squeezed your sides.
He scared you so bad that you literally jumped up, turned around and slapped him.
"Ouch, princess. That's a bit much," he said in a whiney tone as he rubbed his cheek.
"Max! Sorry, reflexes," you tried to justify your reaction.
"You scared the living hex out of me," you said with a giggle as you finally hugged him. "Never do that again."
"Alright. I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself," he reasoned as he hugged you back.
He wouldn't admit it to anyone but your hugs make him actually feel good.
Slowly pulling back you still held on to one another, just looking at each other.
"I get it," you eventually said.
This proximity was driving you nuts. Your heart started beating faster and you kept catching yourself looking at his lips.
Obviously he noticed and dared a look at yours too.
"Can I kiss you?", you eventually blurred out as he looked at your lips for like the third time.
"Yes," Max whispered before getting closer to kiss you first.
As your lips connected you felt over the moon. It was more than you could have imagined.
But as soon as the kiss started you two ended it. The chance of getting caught flood your two minds.
Surprisingly he smiled widely at you. You couldn't help but do the same.
"I don't want to ruin this but... we probably should leave," he said as noises could be heard from the outside.
"You're right," you agreed.
Max was the first one to leave the room. That gave you time to let all the joy out. Jumping up and down and squealing out of happiness.
This moment. It probably was your favorite one ever.
After that day you two have changed, but neither of your friends or your parents seemed to have realized. Maybe they did but didn't say anything. It was for the best because they couldn't know. Not yet at least.
But this feeling and connection grew. It got stronger and stronger and all you thought about was making this official.
Because the kisses have gotten more frequent. Which made passing in the halls and in class a living hell.
You knew you'd have to ask him to make this official eventually. Because you couldn't keep on going on like this. And you sure as hex didn't want to lose him.
It's already have been months.
One day you walked into the broom closet where you two said to meet first. Hearing the door open and seeing him step through you felt your heart racing.
"Hi," you mumbled as he stopped in front of you after closing the door behind him.
"Hey," he mumbled back as his hand snaked to your neck.
Absentmindedly he played with your hair, "You look pretty today."
"Just today?", you joked with a scoff. "Thank you."
It was pretty dark in there. Just a small window that barely let any light in.
"Did I ever tell you how adorable you look in your little hat?", you complimented him back as you adjusted his hat. That way you could see him better.
And even though it was dim in the broom closet you could see him blush.
"Thank you," he partly sarcastically snapped back at you as he brushed your arm away from his hat.
Catching his wrist you guided his hand to your hip. Holding it in place.
"You know I mean it, right?", you wanted to make sure he knows. Because he still has this reputation of the bad guy at Auradon prep due to his father. But he is nothing like him.
You wanted him to know that you think nothing of those rumors. After all, you know the real Max Hatter.
He looked down shyly, letting go of your neck to scratch his own.
"I guess... it's just still hard to believe.. that a princess ... likes me."
You scoffed as you reached out for his other hand to place it on your hip now, mirroring what you did earlier. Moving your own hands to wrap around his neck. Intentionally you pulled him a little bit closer.
"Not just any princess. I'm the princess who's dad was a well known thief and who's mother has magical hair, you know. There are huge rumors about me too, in case you forgot. And high expectations everyone seems to have about me," you said a little sad now thinking of it.
"I know it's not easy. But I know better than anyone that you are not your dad. And I love you, for just who you are, Max."
Suddenly everything went still.
Your confession slipping your lips.
Neither of you dared to go down this path. Even though you really wanted to. But not like this. Not just slipping it out.
Panic started to rise inside of you.
"I- I mean- I didn't mean to- I-," you stumbled over your words and thoughts as you nervously started fidgeting with his hair at the back of his neck.
"It's okay, Y/N," he said, suddenly bursting into a giggle. "Gosh, you're adorable like that."
"But I-", you wanted to start again but he wouldn't let you.
"Shh. You don't need to defend yourself. I'm quite flattered, actually."
Now you were the one blushing.
"I know I am nothing like my dad. And I know, you know that too. I see that... And I also see you. For who you are. And... I love you for being you."
He confessed so easily, at least it seemed like it, because actually he was so nervous inside.
After all, he never felt for anyone this way. So admitting what he feels and actually claiming it as love was so odd to him.
The panic and doubt in your face instantly vanished and happiness filled your body.
"You do?", you wanted to make sure as you stepped even closer, bodies pressing against each other now.
"Yes," he admitted. Making this all oh-so-real.
And that was it. You couldn't hold it in anymore. Just like your mother would in a happy situation, you started to hysterically jump up and down.
"MAX HATTER LOVES ME," you yelped way too loud and way too excited.
As you realised what you were doing you stopped jumping, held his shoulder and looked at him with raised eyebrows and big eyes.
"Hex, I was being way too loud again. I'm sorry."
Max started laughing and pulled you in for a tight hug.
"Oh my hat, don't apologize for being yourself. You're fine," slowly pulling back, he held you tight by your hips, "And I'm really flattered seeing you so happy because of me."
You couldn't help but giggle as you looked at him, scanning every inch of his face, "I want to tell my friends about us. And my parents."
Your exciting and eager demeanor was almost intoxicating to him. He thought about it. Not just now but a few weeks ago already. It's a kind of scary thought. But he wanted so too.
"Okay. Fine. We can tell them," he carefully but surely agreed.
You couldn't help yourself but finally crush your lips on his. It made you feel like fireworks were exploding in your tummy.
After you pulled back you softly squeezed his face.
"I can't wait to walk hand in hand with you publicly."
Max couldn't help but roll his eyes at you, "I can't with you enthusiasm sometimes."
But honestly? He loved it. You were the energy that was missing in his life. And soon everyone would know.
a/n: aaahh unexpected fic!!! I don't know how to feel about the new movie or that my first descendants fic is about the new gen, but I do know that I am literally obsessed with Max!! hope y'all liked this one!
summary: You moved to El Paso due to your parents work, hoping the bullying would stop in that town. After almost giving up on finding friends, Cody decided to make sure that changes.
warning: mention of bullying, use of Y/N, slight angst, comfort, fluff, readers fav colour is pink, wears the same colour every day, not proofread!!
part: one, (two), (three)
You always loved the colour pink and that's how you express yourself. It's your comfort colour and you always feel your true self when wearing it. Even if it's not always appreciated by others.
Moving a lot due to the jobs of your parents, no matter what school you attended, people found a way to bully you. You tried to not let it get to you but sometimes it wasn't easy.
But now you moved to El Paso. Your parents told you that you would stay here for a while since your dad got a pretty good job. You heard that one before but somehow this time they seemed legit.
On your first day at your new school you got your fair share of looks but they got worse each day, turning into weeks. Maybe because people realised you were new and wearing the same colour everyday. Whatever it was they were being idiots. But nothing new. And even though you knew you would stay at this school for a while you didn't bother to make any friends.
Sometimes you can't help but think friendships are overrated.
But there was this specific group that seemed different to you. You share some classes with them and you see them hang out any time possible. They are a wild mix but seem to get along so well. You can't help but wonder how it's like to have a group like this.
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into a month. It's been a month now since you first got here. Still no friends.
You're at lunch, sitting outside on a bench as you had your headphones on, eating. As usual you were minding your own business, slightly looking up at the mentioned group again.
Due to class you remembered their names by now. There was Jesse, Dani, Kyle, Yvonne and Cody. He caught your eye on the first day honestly but you tried to let it pass by. However your brain wouldn't let you. Every time Cody passed you or sat in front of you in class, you wondered how he was like. Not in a creepy way, of course. More in a curious one.
So as you looked up you noticed them looking your way and mumbling something. Shit. You were starting to think they were shit talking you. You hoped they weren't but you couldn't know for sure. The mere thought of it made you look down at your food. What was I thinking? You thought to yourself as you tried to distract yourself with your food.
Before you knew the sun was blocked from you and a tall figure was towering in front of you. That made you look up and your heart stopped. It was Cody. He was actually there. You looked at his friends who were all curiously watching. Looking back at him you took your headphones off.
"Hey, you're new, right? Y/N, is it?"
You nodded, clearing your throat before being able to trust your voice. "Yeah. That's me."
He smiled expanding his hand, "I'm Cody."
You furrowed one eyebrow at the gesture but you accepted it. As you did he looked back at his friends, slightly pointing towards them.
"These idiots are my friends. We thought maybe you could use some company?"
You scoffed as you two let go of each others hands. You tired your best to stay calm, not show how nervous you were suddenly being. It's not like you.
"What makes you think that?"
His face showed he didn't expected that response. Yet he made sure to show that he liked that answer. "Well.. uhm- you're new and always sit alone.."
"So you think I need friends?", you basically snapped at him but more in a playful manner. One he didn't seem to catch on to.
"I don't know about need but-"
You decided to cut him off with a smile. "I'm just messing with you."
His eyes widened but relaxed once he realised that you played him. "Oh my god. That was evil."
You shrugged as you grabbed your things and got up. He was still towering over you a little since he was taller. "Well expect more." Adjusting your bag on your shoulder you added, "But thank you. That's really kind. I was honestly looking for company but.. you know."
Cody finally smiled warmly, nodding happily, "I totally get that. I mean, we all do." He made space for you to walk beside him towards his friends.
At the table he introduced you to them, they all greeted you happily. Somehow your nervousness washed away as you got to know the group. Talking about everything just until the bell rang.
"Hey, how do you feel about joining us for bowling on Saturday?", Dani excitedly asked you when everyone started to pack their things.
"Oh yes, you gotta come!", Kyle chimed in, basically shaking you so you had no other option but to say yes.
You laughed as you made him stop, "Okay. Calm down. I will think about it."
Now Cody couldn't keep quiet saying your name to get your full attention. "Come on. It's gonna be fun."
Sighing deeply you thought to just go for it. "Alright. Fine. But just so you know, I am bad at this."
"Don't worry. We all are," Jesse said before adding, "besides Yvonne. She's a witch or somethong."
Yvonne rolled her eyes as she got up from her seat, "Not a witch. Just naturally talented."
Then Kyle turned to look at you and whispered, "Definetly a witch."
Yvonne just groaned hitting the back of his head and walked away. "Ouch-," he exclaimed before going after her. He did turn around though, to wave and say goodbye before striking after Yvonne. Then Dani and Jesse got up. They gave each other a look and then Dani spoke up.
"We're going too... see you around?"
"Definitely," you said with a nod.
They nodded back and went on as well. Leaving Cody and you at the table. It was quiet for a moment but the Cody spoke up. "Uhm- do you want to join our group chat? All the details for Saturday will be shared there."
You smiled warmly. Never did you ever get friends this fast. "Sure."
"Great," he said before pulling his phone out and handing it to you to put your number into his contacts. Once you were done you handed it back to him. "Thank you. I'll add you to the group chat then."
"Thanks. And...," you paused, taking the time to turn and look at him properly, "..thank you for approaching me. I never bother to do so, even though I wanted too. I just-" You sighed deeply before starting again. He was just observing, completely. "I just thought you were judging me or something."
Your confession made him freeze basically. "Why would anyone judge you?", he thought out loud. "We just weren't sure if you wanted to be approached or not... I made the final call and decided to do it nonetheless."
Your stomach twisted. His words made you feel appreciated because they were so considerate. "I- well... I got bullied before and have gotten enough stupid looks to think that.. I'm just glad you guys are different."
His eyebrows furrowed, immediately going into defense, "Bullied? You? Why?" Cody sounded like you just told him the most absurd story ever. He couldn't believe a beautiful girl like you could ever get bullied.
"Mostly got called weird for wearing pink everyday... even got called an emo- which, obviously, I am not, and even if- it shouldn't be used as an insult...", you said, avoiding eye contact now.
"Well they're idiots then.. because pink is basically your colour. It looks good on you."
His words made you look back at him, your heart skipping beats as you two locked eyes.
"Seriously. Don't let these idiots or stupid stares get to you. They're probably jealous of your beauty anyway."
Damn. You weren't used to so many compliments. Especially not by such a cute guy like him. You couldn't help but scoff, your face flushed anyway. "Well, thank you. Means a lot."
He couldn't help but nudge your shoulder with his, "Of course. And anyway- you got us now. If anyone ever bothers you, just let me know." Cody's voice was soft but firm, making it clear he means it. And dammit what it meant to you. Everything inside you felt warm.
"I will. Thank you," you said softly.
Giving you an approving nod he got up, "We probably should get to class now."
You sighed and got up too, "You're right. Let's go."
With another nod of his you two made your ways to class, sadly having to part ways for this one. But you knew you wouldn't have to be alone from now on and you were more than excited for Saturday.

are you the kind of person to hug your friends when greeting/saying goodbye? And if yes is it just a one shoulder or side hug? Or full on embracing the person?
I know for me it depends and I do have some friends I don't hug, but it bothers me so much that we don't... it just feels like they're not ready to be close (which kinda could be the case) but I usually love to hug my friends!! I just love hugs generally I think haha ! but for me it's full on hug!

summary: You're invited to your best friends wedding in which she told you to bring bring a plus one, but you ended up not doing so.... instead you met someone
warnings: first person pov, fluff!!, (asking for)consent, drinking (alcohol), reader is not from Spain (just knows a bit of the language, you don't need to tho), spanish phrases used, Gavi speaks good english (better than irl), he can dance - you not so much, teaches you basic bachata, oc friend group, not proofread!!
a/n: in celebration of the world cup and recently reading a fic about him and Pedri coincidentally, it brought be back to my hyperfixation from years ago 😫 so I felt like writing something hehe
I somehow always loved going to weddings. It's always so nice to see everyone's traditions and cultures clash on one another. Meeting new people and eating (and drinking) a lot is also a bonus.
But this one was special. My best friend, Julia, was getting married. I was so excited for it, I felt like I was the one getting in that white dress.
It was extra especial because she was marring a Spanish guy, Antonio, in Spain.
Of course, I know Antonio. He's a good guy. The best (for her). And since Julia doesn't have much family, but he does, they fairly decided to have the wedding in Spain.
I'm honestly not mad at all. I love the country and it's so much nicer there.
The flight and everything went well.
Since I am a maid of honor, I have some duties. Drinks and music is my thing so that's what Julia put me in charge for.
Hiring a pretty good DJ. One who plays songs that's totally their vibe and taste, so I just knew I had to book her.
Making sure all of their favourite drinks and popular cocktails will be available at the bar. And my favourite, for sure.
I did all that.
But what I didn't do was look for a plus one.
Was it the stress? Maybe. Or was it just the fact I didn't want to look for one and rather just go alone? Probably.
Whatever my reason was, Julia was pissed.
"I told you to bring someone. I wouldn't want you to drown in your planing," Julia eclaimed as she realised I came alone.
"But I am not. I planned everything perfectly," you explained defencless.
"I meant in drinking the whole night and dancing to the music."
"Now what is wrong with that?", you asked slightly shocked by that statement.
"Nothing. But it's sad to do alone," she emphizied.
I knew what she meant. Obviously I knew. But she still had to reason to rill up on it.
"Julia, it is your wedding day. I don't want you to be bothered by this tonight. And besides? I'd rather attend your wedding alone than with some random guy."
She finally came around and saw my point. With a deep sigh she nodded, fixing her dress as the hairdresser put her finishing touches to Julia's hair.
"Okay, fine. But you better mingle with Antonio's family and friends. I want you to meet them. Or new people in general. Just- no stupid stuff," she said the last bit pointing a finger at me.
I just laughed with a nod, "Okay. I will. Promise."
The reception was beautiful. I cried way to many times to let my makeup to stay in place. But I didn't care. I was obviously sitting on Julia's side which had to be shared with Antonio's friends. Most of them where Julia's friends by now as well.
But I obviously had no time to meet any of them. Just greeted the ones I knew. I knew I had time for that at the after-party anyway.
A beautiful location honestly. I remember the day Julia and Antonio showed me their options. I knew if they wouldn't be having their wedding there, I would. Not that I have a reason to have my wedding in Spain, but still.
Before everyone would arrive I and some other maid of honor's and best man made sure everything we individually organised was right. I talked to the DJ and bartenders back and forth, basically being in my element.
I heard people chatter in Spanish in the background but I had no clue what they were saying. I just curiously turned around to spot Antonio talk to, probably one of his best men.
Honestly, I was so in my own head I couldn't bother less.
Things started to being. People arriving. Gifts being placed at the gift table. Drinks getting handed out. Everything went smoothly.
After Julia changed to her backup dress she came over to me.
Vibing to the reggaeton and 90s-2000s hit tunes with a cocktail in my hand. Julia just laughed at me, shaking her head.
"You can't seem to listen to me for once, huh?"
My eyes widen immediately as I registered what she was saying. Shit.
"Shit, I was so in my own head-", I tried to explain myself but she gave me no chance.
"And you're done with that!", she said nudging my shoulder, "Finish that and then get out there."
Following Julia's gaze towards the dance floor my eyes widen again. I haven't realised how many people are out there. I guess more people came now than there where at the reception.
"Damn," I mumbled and she just laughed.
"You're gonna find someone to talk to."
I laughed, "Obviously, I will."
"Someone new," she added in a beat.
Sighing I nodded, "I get it. Fine."
With one last big sip I drowned my drink, placing the glass on the bar and shooting Julia a mean look and showing her my middle finger. All banter, of course.
"I love you too," she yelled after me as I vanished into the loud dancefloor.
I got lost in the crowd of people faster than thought. All new faces.
Until I saw one of Antonio's brothers, I luckily met way before. Simon.
"Simon! Finally a familiar face," I said laughing as I gave him a soft left and right cheek to cheek. A normal Spanish greeting I picked up around his family.
He returned the favour and smiled widely as he said my name, "Just say you missed me."
"Alright, maybe I did," I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes.
He sighed and nudged my shoulder. We kinda have a playful banter.
"So where is Alec?", I asked, curious to know where his boyfriend was.
"Oh, he's getting a drink. By the way, he will thank you for the cocktail options. He's obsessed."
I laughed as I nodded remembering the menu has some cocktails they like, "You are more than welcome. I thought about you two as I picked some options."
Simon dramatically put his hand on his chest, "Oh my god? Really? Now I feel flattered."
I laughed as I nodded, "Oh, you should."
"I guess I have to make the most of it and get a drink too then," he said as he already looked into the direction of the bar.
Chuckling I looked that way too. I know I just finished a drink but I was already thinking about drowning in another.
"Maybe you should... have fun," I just agreed, nudging into the direction.
"You're one of a kind. Go have some fun too," he put a hand on my shoulder and squeezed it.
I knew he meant well. And I knew he was right. Well so was Julia.
As soon as Simon went on to Alec, I sighed and turned to the DJ, making my way to her.
I figured I'd have to check on her too.
Dancing my way through the crowd, I couldn't even get to the front before someone brutally bumped into me.
I lost my balance faster than I could safe myself.
Before I knew, I fell into someone's arms before I could hit the ground.
Instinctively I shut my eyes expecting a hard and rough ground landing. But feeling soft arms wrapped around me, people gasping and cheering, I finally heard a soft voice talk to me.
"Ay, todo bien? Are you alright?"
I carefully opened my eyes, as everything hit me.
Shit, he is cute. I thought as my eyes adjusted to the light again.
"Uh- yeah. I am fine. Thanks to you," I said as I tried my best to stay collected.
He just laughed and nodded, "Yeah, you basically fell for me."
His Spanish accent was thick, but I noticed he was trying his best. And it made me swoon even more.
Laughing nervously, not really sure if the double meaning in his words were intentional, I noticed he was still holding me, so I got up.
"You could say so," I just bluntly said, not really thinking.
He was almost disappointed that I got up so quick but he covered it up, "I'm Pablo. Most people call me Gavi though. A short form from my last name."
Smiling I told him my name. He softly repeated my name and hearing it in his accent made me almost fall again.
"I'm sorry for falling on you, someone pushed me and everything happened so fast," I tried my best to excuse myself but he would barely let me.
"It's okay. It's not your fault. And you are not hurt, so that's all that matters," he said with a lopsided grin.
"Yeah, thank you again," I added, nodding, as I slightly took his appearance in. It made me realise he was one of Antonio's best man.
"It's my pleasure," he added before doing the same. Probably realising I was Julia's maid of honor as well.
"Wait- were you one of Antonio's-", I couldn't even finish before he agreed.
"Yes. I am his best friend. And you were one of Julia's-", I cut him off too now.
"Yes. I am her best friend."
As we both realised what we were saying we started laughing and smiling like two maniacs.
"What a coincidence," I laughed out as we both came back to our senses.
"Yeah. So crazy," he easily agreed.
For a moment it got quiet between us, the music and chatter being heard again but I didn't want that. I rather spoke up again.
"Hey- uhm- can I buy you a drink? Like a thank you for saving me?"
He chuckled and nodded, "Aren't the drinks for free anyway?"
Shit. I almost forgot. But I played it cool with a giggle, "Ugh, you know what I mean." Waving my hand dismissively.
Pablo had a wide smirk on his face as he nodded, "Yeah, I know."
I sighed in relief and with a wide smile I nodded towards the bar, "Shall we?"
With a smile and nod he followed close behind. The crowd was thick and almost wanted to separate us. In the heat of the moment I extended my hand and he took a hold of it so we couldn't loose each other.
I felt my cheeks immediately redden but I just looked straight ahead to the bar. Getting closer to it the crowd got smaller, but we continued holding hands just until we stopped in front of it.
Carefully letting go, I turned around to look at him. I prayed my cheeks were a less redder shade by now.
"So what can I get you?", I offered playfully as I gestured towards the menu that was written down on a small chalkboard on top of the bar.
He smirked faintly as he got closer and examined it.
"Hmm, so many good options to chose from."
His face showed how concentrated he looked at the menu.
"I know. I picked them."
His eyes widen as he turned his head to look at me.
"You?", he sounded surpried.
"Yes, me. 's that so hard to believe?", I replied in a mock sassy tone, crossing my arms over my chest.
"No- no-", Gavi tried to correct me, "...not that. I just- expected Pepé to be in charge of it."
I know him. That's Antonio's cousin. He is a few years older but they are super close. He basically is with his whole family. That's why I know most of them.
I get why he would have thought that. Pepé drinks a bear every day. But that's just it. Sure, the dude can tell you which beer tastes the best and why and how it was brewed and stuff.
That's why the newly wedded couple wouldn't want him in charge for that.
"If that would have been the case, you would have gotten San Miguel and some other beers only," I said very sure of it as I leaned my back against the bar and uncrossed my arms.
He seemed to agree as he laughed, nodding and shook his pointy finger up and down at me. Like I got Pepé all figured out.
"You got that right," he looked back at the menu, seriously scanning that thing.
After a while I started to get impatient, "Don't you like the options?"
You could tell he was caught off guard by that assumption, "What?- No- I just- I'm not really a drinker and I had to read what each one contains-"
I suddenly felt like an asshole. Just assuming. Damned.
"Oh- I'm sorry- I mean.. you can tell me what you wanna try and I can give you my recommendation," I suggested with a smile.
He immediately stood up straight and looked at me curiously, "Really? That's nice. Thank you"
I blamed myself for coming alone today but dammit this guy got me blushing.
"Oh, it's no biggy," I replied before asking him stuff for what he wanted to try. Narrowing it down as the conversation progressed I eventually picked something for him and myself.
As we waited for our drinks the conversation flowed easily.
Eventually the drinks did too. We were so lost in conversation, time went by quickly.
Ordering one drink after the other we kept talking about all sort of things. How I met Julia and how he met Antonio. Embarrassing stories of the two and so much more.
As we were at our fourth drink the conversation slowed. Both of us looked at the bar just before Gavi spoke up.
"Soo..," Gavi started as he turned to look at me again.
"Who's your plus one?"
"I don't have one," I carefully replied after looking at him too.
I'm not sure if I was imagining it but something between us changed.
"Oh," he mumbled, trying his best to stay in tact, "me neither."
His addition made me curious, "Why not?"
He scoffed, taking another sip of his drink, "I could ask you the same."
I nodded taking a sip too, "Well... I'm single and since I don't want to bring a random guy to my best friends wedding I thought I'd just go alone."
Telling him all that felt so easy. Maybe because talking to him was easy. Or we could just blame it on the alcohol.
It almost seemed like he was relieaved or at least really pleased by that piece of information.
"I guess there is more we have in common than we thought."
Understanding what he meant I grinned slyly and nodded, "I guess we do."
Taking another sip of my drink I kept looking at him. It was tender but not too much. Looking away before placing the drink down.
"Thank you for the drink recommendations," he said holding his glass up and taking another sip.
I couldn't help but chuckle and nod, "You are welcome. Thank you for trying them all."
Laughing he waved his hand dismissively, "It's nothing."
We both are drinking our fourth drink by now and the alcohol is really getting to my head. Making me a bit more giggly. Which showed in response to his reaction.
[Recommended to listen to Imitadora by Romeo Santos from now on]
Drowning the last bit of my drink I got up and held my hand out to him, "Shall we dance?"
I had no clue what has gotten into me but all I knew what I should enjoy the dance floor a bit more.
Pablo genuinely seemed surprised but the alcohol seemed to get the better of him too, making him empty his drink and get up too.
"I can't say no to that," he agreed as he took my hand and followed me to the dance floor.
The room was still pretty filled with people dancing to the Spanish tunes playing. And I loved it.
Neither of us wanted to let go. Certainly he wouldn't let me. Holding my hand he pulled me in to talk into my ear. The feeling giving me goosebumps.
"You know bachata?", he asked looking at me.
I was familiar with the dance but I had no clue on how to dance it. So I shook my head, "No."
Oddly enough he seemed to like that, "Can I teach you?"
Suddenly, I froze for a moment just before nodding, letting him lead me to the music.
Carefully he moved my left hand on his right shoulder. His right hand resting underneath my left shoulder blade. We were still holding hands so he carefully moved them up, our elbows in a almost 45 degrees angle. Stepping a bit closer he grinned at me.
"Is this ok?", Pablo asked for permission.
"Yes," I only got to whisper my reply.
"Good... ahora- now.. just follow me," he said as he started moving his feet to the rhythm, guiding me through it.
"Left foot left, right foot following, left again, right foot just a tap and up with the right side of your hip as you do so," he explained as he moved with me.
He smiled as we continued, doing the steps back and fort. Halfway through the song I started to get the hang of it without him having to guide me with his words.
"You're doing it. You're a natural," he praised me probably more happy about that fact than I was myself.
I couldn't help but blush, "I had a great teacher." Obviously I had to praise him back.
Playfully he rolled his eyes, obviously not able to take a compliment. Since he was blushing too he had to hide it with spinning me.
The move was so sudden, I didn't expected it, so as he spun me back in I lost my balance and basically collapsed on him. Both of my hands planned on his chest.
My eyes widen in surprise, him mirroring me but we both started laughing right away.
"A warning would have been nice," I said as my laughter slowly died, my eyes narrowing down to his lips without even realising.
As I heard him swallow and saw him softly wet his lips, I registered what was happening my eyes shut up to see him look at me with that look. It had to mean something.
Abruptly I pulled back, but he wouldn't let me, holding me by my wrist.
"It's okay," he whispered to me as he looked at my lips and then back up to my eyes.
Shit. My mind started spinning as I registered what was happening. Before I could say or do anything else me did.
"Can I kiss you?"
I stood there, my hands on his chest, his hands holding my wrists as we looked at each other, knowing damn well how bad we want this.
Nodding softly I already moved my face closer, "Yes."
Within a beat he got closer to finally close that gab between us. Kissing me so softly as our lips touch.
I was so overwhelmed that I didn't kiss him back at first, which made him pulled back to look at me. Doubt written over his face but I would let him question me. Therefore I closed the gab again.
Gavi kissed back immediately making this kiss more heated and deeper than before. His hands moved from my wrist, one holding my hip and the other the back of my head. Mine just went around his neck.
The kiss felt eternal, lasting for a bit just before we pulled back out of breath.
"Damn."
"Coño."
We simultaneously mumbled, meaning literally the same thing. Being so in sync made us laugh.
Carefully he brushed a strand of hair behind my ear, looking at me like I was the only one here.
"You're so beautiful," he said as we made eye contact.
My stomach twisted at his words, simply because everything started to feel so real. Like it just now clicked that I actually like him. Like really like him.
It just everything now clicked that I not only want to spent the whole night with him but every other night too. Wanting to know all of him.
I think that realization hit me so hard that it changed my expression. It got Pablo all worried.
"What's wrong?", he asked all worried.
Swallowing I had to clear my throat, "Uh- nothing... I just- realised-"
Pausing I tried of a plausible way to ask him. Patiently he waited.
"I wanna get to know you better. Spend time with you more."
"Like a couple?", he immeditly asked.
His straight forwardness was refreshing honestly.
Nodding softly, "Yeah... exactly like a couple."
Pablo scoffed as a smile spread his face, "I would like that... maybe I could take you out tomorrow?"
Laughing I nodded, "Straight to it, huh?... I would love that."
"Great," he said with a giggle as he hugged me tight.
I couldn't believe the night I had. Not only did my best friend marry the love of her life, but I also met this amazing, fun, handsome and sweet guy who happens to be my best friends husband's best friend.
a/n: rushed ending but I hope y'all can forgive me🙏🏼
