Genuine question, why is “as a white person” bad? If I’m voicing an opinion about racism, I thought it’s important to clarify that I’m white so that people are aware and can call me out if I say anything biased.

It's also important to not make yourself the center of attention when people of color are describing their experiences. It's not that you're clarifying you're white, the issue is when people of color make a post calling out racism and then white people who want us to appease their guilt are like "as a white person i've NEVER done/knew about this" and it's like. That's not... helpful? We don't really need to know that 😭 Sometimes it's better to be an active listener than to want brownie points for seemingly not being racist. If it's the latter and you didn't know that was racism at all, that's not great either because you SHOULD know that if you're someone who who says they want to unlearn their biases against marginalized people. I think sometimes, people just want to chime in and are unaware of how they come off, but other times, it feels pretty defensive.

Its weird how you get more disabled over time. Like, most people i know with a disability actually have like eight disabilities and a lot of them slowed up later as a result of compensating for the earlier ones. This brought to you by me filling out a demographics form and wondering when i got to the point of checking that many damn boxes

“You get used to it” true but misleading because someday your back problems are gonna inexplicably cause stomach problems. And then you get used to the stomach problems but your thumbs start hurting because you had to do so much work on your phone lying in weird positions while waiting for the stomach problems to go away. And there are way more distractions on your phone too so while you always had adhd this just makes it more annoying/prevalent-

there's this weird thing people fall into online a lot, where people assume that if the [perceived-to-be-inferior] version of [activity] is discouraged then people will, naturally, do [perceived-to-be-superior] version of [activity] instead. When really it's just as (or more) likely that if [perceived-to-be-inferior] version of [activity] is discouraged people just won't do it at all.

audiobook listeners are not necessarily people who would otherwise do a lot of traditional reading if audiobooks did not exist, many are people who simply would experience zero books. Booktok romance readers would not necessarily be reading the classics if booktok did not exist, many of them would simply not read. Fanfiction writers would not necessarily be novelists if fanfic wasn't an option, many would just be people who didn't write. You know?

#personally if i couldn't write fanfic i probably still would've wrote stuff #but it would never have seen the light of day and i probably would not love writing as much as i do

Feeling lost. Heartbroken. Betrayed. So many different things I couldn't fully express if I tried.

What hits me the most is that they let me keep sending them "ILY" voice messages, knowing that they were leaving me behind. I know I shouldn't but I almost feel violated. They were taking my love while betraying me in the worst way they could've.

I'm not really mad, no, I got that out already. Just...hurt.

If you know me, I might not be as active on Tumblr in general for the next while. I just need time, I think.
