The soulbound seems to grow as they do and only through the most emotional moment of their lives it seems to be able to penetrate through the wall they've both been able to build. He is never able to penetrate Max's own wall no matter how much he tries. He seems to be able to build a much bigger wall than Charles own, the overachiever.
