resus and otherwise!

I don’t think I ever gave this guy a name but he’s had a hard go of things and he’s going to continue having a hard go of things indefinitely

I'm planning to keep all of the characters that pop up on this blog within the same loose world if I'm able! That way I can mix and match with folks a bit - kings, queens, magic abilities and magical creatures - anything goes for the sake of throwing together a particular dynamic or resus scenario lmao

Cypress is the fairy in those gifs! Fairies live in their own realm within small settlements, gateways to which are hidden away in the wooded areas of the larger realm. Fairies sometimes use said gateways as shortcuts, appearing briefly outside of their domain (traveling faster in the Nether vs the overworld in minecraft is what came to mind first, lmao). Isolated people that they are, they also don't tend to get along with most others too well. Particularly elves- who have frequently settled near fairy traveling spots, and unknowingly or not, disrupted plenty throughout history. There's a lot of reasons fairies and elves are wary of each other broadly, but they're all pretty run of the mill fantasy old feud type things.

Cypress is the crown prince of his particular nation in the fae realm, and is decidedly not too thrilled with the notion of giving up his freedom as his mother ages. He understands how to lead and manage a kingdom well enough, but personality-wise he's definitely not really cut out for it. He's surly and irritable and would rather keep to himself, but at the end of the day, he's his family's only heir. He knows that. That does not mean he won't break away from his guards to take ill-advised flights out of the fae realm whenever he's experiencing 20-something-year-old angst about how his life is going though (me too buddy). During this particular outing, his mind was elsewhere. As he was flying by the surface of a shallow pond, brushing at the surface with his hand, a small stack of rocks at it's edge came loose and toppled over him. One of them rolled over his wing, both breaking it and pinning him underwater in the process.

Clementine is the elf that found him. I just realized I called her a human in the gif post because I queued a lot at once and my brain is the size of a pea, but she's an elf. Whoops.

ANYWAY - She's mild mannered and kind, but also prefers to be on her own. That's why she opted to live inside of and maintain her family's old secluded cabin on her own after the rest of them moved into the nearest capital. She lives a content, quiet life with her books and dog. She's never actually seen a fairy before Cypress, so she's mostly just sitting there panicking about accidentally doing more harm than good the whole time she's working at resuscitating him. Afterwards, she feels a sense of responsibility considering she'd stacked the rocks he flew into. Cypress is probably the worst audience for that kind of guilt, since he also thinks it's her fault because he's a nightmare. Luckily she's more focused on making sure he recovers properly than taking his fussing too seriously.

They'll reach an understanding eventually. They have plenty of time together, considering Cypress'll definitely be feeling Clementine's compressions for a while. Broken wings also heal much slower outside of the fae realm, but he'd "rather die" than reveal their location by allowing Clementine to bring him back to it.

He'll make sure to talk down any angry fairy forces who eventually show up at her door with accusations of kidnapping the crown prince, though. Begrudgingly. She did save his life, after all- not that he'll ever willingly acknowledge it in front of her.
