hello my lovelies! i went... radio silent again. But!! i am still on my bullshit actually i love to yap about my crochet projects as im doing them so actually you guys are coming with me on my journey to make plushie adult zuko
this is the beginning of the head, before i put down his burn scar. the patten im using is bigger than i'd originally figured but thats ok bc that means more zuko to hug so its whatevs i got plenty of yarn and stuffing, other thing of note, once i planned out the safety eyes i got unnecessarily attached already
made his scar out of felt, freehand cut it out based purely on vibes, and this is my first project using tacky glue as opposed to sewing things down so he got put into "pincushion jail" while I waited to see how the glue adhered down and hoped with my entire heart to not have to use hot glue (me and hot glue have NEVER got along)
the underside of him at this point was VERY dangerous
I let him be on thursday night and had every intention to check on him Friday afternoon before I went into work but i was too invested in my breakfast of pizza so he actually sat for like 36 hours lol but the glue worked!! no hot glue battling for me~
before I get into the stuffing and decreases i wanted to get all the head details done, so tonight I spent about 6 hours on his hair (which i free handed!) and im very happy with it!
all I have left to do to finish up the head is some small embroidery details and then his head will be finished! that's probably the next update i'll add to this, but tomorrow ill be taking a break from him because crocheting for 6 hours straight tends to have consequences lol
i know i said i was going to make no progress today but i woke up from a dead sleep and figured out how to make his crown
i had an empty mello yello box sitting around on the floor and it came in CLUTCH for this, i simply cut out the shape and used my acrylic markers to correct the color a bit, and now ill let it sit for the night
not pictured; the toothpick im painting and sticking through his hair 🤣
big day for zuko!! i finished his head, and glued down his hair (so he is back in pincushion jail probably until i finish the body tbh) but EEEEEEE LOOK AT HIM I MADE THAT!!!
bonus: his bun was VERY useful as an impromptu pincushion while gluing the hair pieces down

Well, the dam finally broke, and I’ve done the one thing I didn’t want to do.
Because of serious medical hardships, my mom and I are now facing a 10,000 dollar backpay on our home. My mom just got home from almost two months in the hospital due to a stroke, and other underlying conditions ( IE Hemispheric Migraines causing Paralysis on the left side of her body. )
Because of this she has lost her job, and my income is not enough to pull us out of the hole we’re in.
I’ve already drained my savings and paid 2,000 off of the 10,000, but I only get paid bi-weekly, and our forbearance ends on the 30th with no extensions.
I do not expect the full amount through this, but at this point, I’ve run out of options. If my posts have ever made you chuckle or exhale from the nose, please spread this around as much as you can if nothing else so my mom and I can continue to have a roof over our heads.
I am a 23 year old living at home with my disabled mother. After a recen… Jaye Hicks needs your support for Support for my Mother and I Faci

One afternoon, while you were perusing the Royal Library, you found an interesting, aged book on various crafts of noble ladies and artisans. Of course there was embroidery, sewing, painting, but what really caught your eye was the intricate pieces from a craft called Crochet. The way the threads were woven together enthralled you in a way you couldn't possibly resist. So, you spent the rest of the day, figuring out how you yourself could participate in such a craft. You went into town (at the grumblings of your darling protective husband,) and met with a few artisans that helped you get a good baseline of how to pick up the craft.
Your husband Zuko was always somewhere near you, and kept you quite busy even on top of your duties as his spouse. So, during small moments of peace, you picked up the craft. It was easy enough to get the items you needed, you went to the market near the palace and got some beautiful hand dyed thick thread, some flame blasted hooks, and sat near the turtle ducks pond in the palace gardens. When you first started, Zuko had come out of a council meeting, looking for you. He missed you. He stood in the entrance to the right of you, completely taken aback. His partner, his beautiful, awe inspiring partner looked like they came from heaven. The sunlight filtered across your face, splattering across your cheeks in speckles like gold. The way yours brows furrowed as you pulled the hook through every stitch made his heart clench in his chest. It was one of the most beautiful sights Zuko had ever seen in his life. Rivaled only by your wedding day.
"What are you up to?" He finally spoke, stepping up beside you with a smile on his face.
You looked up from your project, a soft smile on your lips, and set the project down on your lap.
"Have you ever heard of crocheting, my love?"
Zuko sat down on the grass beside you, bending a knee as he watched you with devoted eyes. "In passing, though I can't say I know much about it. Is that what you're doing?"
You smiled, looking down at the beginnings of a coaster for his desk, a small circle of a dark red. It was simple, but you were only just starting. It was only natural that you'd want to make something for your beloved Fire Lord husband.
"It is. I found a book on it in the library a while ago, and fell in love with how it looks." You lifted up the circle to the light, the sunlight highlighting some of the fibers. "It's a little much to grasp at first… But I think I'm getting the hang of it."
Zuko wasn't a poet. He couldn't find the proper words to describe the ethereal scene before him, nor did he quite understand what you were making. But, the iron focus you'd had while working on it before his arrival filled his chest with a warmth he simply couldn't argue with. He draped an arm across your shoulder, and looked out at the pond of the turtle ducks.
"If it makes you happy, then that's all I truly need to know. I can't wait to see what beautiful things you create." He leaned his head against you, closing his eyes. He was content to just be beside you as you worked.
Quite a few months passed, and your side of your shared room was littered with all sorts of thread, scraps, hooks, and many different projects. You'd made matching coasters for you and Zuko (which he used religiously), A pillow that sat on your shared bed, and even a shawl for your robes. You had just finished the shawl, and were trying it on when Zuko walked into the shared room.
He had been so very tired, the ministers arguing about grain taxes of all things, until he saw you. You were standing in front of the full length mirror, posing with the red and orange shawl, testing out how it looked from different angles. Zuko smiled, and walked up to you, putting his hands on your hips, and nuzzling his head into your soft hair.
"You've been getting much better," He murmured, watching as your lifted your arms to test the stretch of it. "Though, I'm not a qualified judge on it."
"Hello, darling," You said lightly, twirling around once he released you from his grip. "What do you think? I think I prefer it over the ceremonial sheer stuff."
Zuko's words got caught in his throat as he watched you spin around. He really did love you. More than anything. He couldn't help himself, and lifted you up in his arms. The loving smile on his face made your own heart clench as he held you.
"It's beautiful." It was simple, and yet so very Zuko. His voice was reverent, and it was obvious he wasn't just talking about the shawl. He held you for a long while, and then kissed the top of your head as your feet finally returned to the floor. "Now that you've finished, could your husband steal a bit of your time?"
"Of course he can." You said quietly, taking off the shawl and setting it aside before Zuko swept you back into his arms and carried you over to the bed, peppering kisses along your cheeks as he lowered you to the covers.
"I love you very much, and you are so talented. I'm so lucky to have you." He said, his voice thick with emotion.
"I love you too, Zuko. I'm even luckier." Zuko only shook his head as he got into bed with you, pulling you impossibly close to his warmth. It was then that you decided that picking up crochet was a great choice.
