After the deaths of your four oldest siblings, taken from you by war, your older sibling, Nour, once fifth in line for the Solar Imperial throne, is now the heir.
This day never should have happened.
As recompense for the ravages your kingdom’s war has inflicted upon the Lunar kingdom of Celestyl, and as assurance it will not happen again, your sibling is to be sent to Celestyl to marry the Lunar King’s heir. An arranged marriage, meant to unite the kingdoms. Or, at least that’s how everyone prefers to phrase it. But you all recognize this for what it really is: a guise. Your sibling will be a political hostage.
And—Theia, grant you guidance—you have had a premonition this is not the worst to come. Should your sibling go to Celestyl, they will not survive.
So you will take their place.
Stygian Sun: Total Eclipse is a dark fantasy interactive fictional story where you play as the sixth child in the proud and grandiose Solar Imperial Dynasty and leave your homeland for a foreign country, where you will take your sibling’s place in an arranged marriage to the heir to the Lunar Kingdom. But something sinister simmers on the horizon—you have felt it in your premonitions; apprehension crawls beneath your skin, foreboding pricks at the back of your neck, dread sinks low and heavy in your stomach. Theia is warning you—of what, you know not, but you have seen the way the Lunar King looks at you. His stare, the dagger, and you, the sacrificial lamb on the altar.

Holy logical fallacy with the mcs mother. Strawman, ad hominem, appeal to authority, false dilemma, post hoc ergo propter hoc, I could go on. "You object because its not what you have in mind for the future" mc objects - and not mc alone, many other people do, too - because it is what damages the kingdom the least. By this logic, mc should continue to not really eat because doing otherwise would be defying fate. Shit, technically (if fate is, apparently, the path of least resistance) the other king is defying fate by not choosing mc, therefore mc mom is defying fate and also assuming theological clarity and thus a hell of a lot of hubris by assuming fate lies with her opinions, therefore guilty of every last thing she accuses mc of within the span of a few minutes. The argument makes no sense - I get the point (not all is something you can do something about) but damn was it served right next to some crap. (Writing was excellent) But holy excessive rhetoric on the moms behalf. The mcs and others objections and moves to change it are actually perfectly reasonable and not at all full of hubris. Trying to do something is not indicative of hubris at all, unrelenting belief that you can and will is hubris. The mc does not think that they can absolutely without a doubt send themselves.
Oh yeah for sure—Phoebe’s views have been shaped by past events, her upbringing, and her feeling of powerlessness in sending her child off to war. MC notes some of the hypocrisy in their mother’s argument too, and Luca points out some of the flaws in Phoebe’s argument later—that she’s one woman and who’s to say her idea of how Fate operates is right nor should it mean your actions are meaningless. And while Phoebe does fear MC may draw Fate’s eye like she believes Vikaria did, mostly she is motivated by fear of having her child taken away again and means to turn MC away from wanting to take Nour’s place. She is selfish and manipulative in that sense—she will spin things to suit her agenda, and her agenda is ensuring no one takes her child away again.
For a commoner king, he sure is quick to totalitarianism. Though, I suppose commoner king is automatically an oxymoron even if the king is of commoner origin. This isn't freeing people from royalty, this is just going for new management.

what sort of clothes do (theian) retainers wear? i don't take aurynn as a model since i bet his clothes wouldn't follow the norm anyways. do they wear more extravagant clothing, like the royality? is it to each their own? also, would i be allowed to put the sste background (the one with the stars and the ouroboros around the beautiful eclipsing moon design) as my laptop background? i find it absolutely enchanting and would love to see it every day when i open my computer. if so, could i get an empty ver pwease 🥺 i don't think i can remove the foreground (the text) to get an empty version

Theian retainers are picked from the nobility, so they would wear much finer clothing, though more practical during working hours and with individual variation as there is no set uniform unless you are part of the Theian guard. Aurynn is def not a model for typical retainer fashion—he also wears far too much red, as red is reserved for the Theian royalty. Retainers and close attendants to royalty are allowed an accent of red at most. Some of the more practical pieces in the Theian pinterest board linked in the pinned post would work for some typical retainer attire. :) 👍

assuming this is like a modern AU since in game weddings dont have the dress/suit standards (tho some of em would probs even just not have a trad wedding and do somethin else/custom):
Kieran: suit for m! and a modest dress for f!
Nihm: a suit sorta but not the classic black/white tux—they’d go for something more colorful and more gnc
Lilith/Lucien: both variants would be cool wearing a gnc suit or a combination of a suit/skirt thang. Would wear The Banana for the afterparty
Samira: would prefer a handmade or handed-down dress
Aurynn: he’d prolly go with something in between a dress/suit or a different style of garment altogether

They both usually opt for more ornate hairstyles. Lady Helia has a fascination with cattle egrets as her father owned many with his cattle, and so she usually shapes her hair to mimic bird wings. Soleil usually wears a long braid down her back adorned with jewelry and styled in more detail along her scalp.
As for the retainers:
Parim’s: both Yari and Sandris were quite similar in terms of personalities and people would often joke if they were identical twins, they’d be unable to tell them apart. Serious, inquisitive, intelligent, quiet, and patient.
Castor’s: Acanthis and Cleometra were both rather dutiful, though Acanthis in a much more spirited way and Cleometra in a more graceful way. Acanthis was the more forward and loud-spoken of the two—though not in a blunt way—while Cleometra was more subdued, fluid, and elegant.
Ember’s: Yasmin helped keep Ember in check in a more ‘I can and will tie you up and drag you to your meeting’ kind of way. They were sort of no nonsense in a mischievous way in that they weren’t afraid to mess with Ember right back to get them to behave. They both had a back and forth going on with each other in that regard. Nonchalant, clever, calculating, charismatic in a more subdued way.
Update comes. Terrible storm or whatever the fuck destroys the ship. Every ro, alektis, and every side character on the ship fucking dies. Mc drowns but is saved by a peculiar tail-ed stranger. You introduce a new roster of ros and characters. Surprise: this was a mermaid game all along
