I can’t believe it has already been 2 years since we lost you. Everyday I either look at pictures of you, or I see or hear something that reminds me of you and I can’t help but shed tears. After the words left Daddy’s mouth, I thought the universe was playing the biggest joke on me because it couldn’t be grandma and then you too, but then I remember begging to see you cause in my head I had to see it to believe it. And there you were and I’m so sorry that no one was there to be with you for your final moments and all I hope is that you knew how loved you were and how missed you would be by everyone. I often think about what it would be like to hear you say my name and for you to hold me close because I would do anything to have that again. When I first returned back to school the week after you died, I remember sitting in calculus class by the window and hearing the leaves crinkle outside and I thought about how you’d be tanning while I’d be in the pool and it finally hit me that I wouldn’t be able to have that moment again. Even when I’m folding my laundry, I remember the time when I shopped at Victoria Secret for the first time and I ended up buying 20 pairs of underwear and when I got home, I showed them to you and you literally ran upstairs and brought down your underwear to show me and what a night filled with laughter we had. I so badly want those moments and I know that there are going to be so many more milestones that you aren’t here for and it just breaks my heart all over again. I can’t change what happened in the past but I never want to feel the type of regret I felt when you passed away. The night before you died, I had this feeling to drive out to Long Island to see you because I felt like something was wrong since no one had heard from you for the last 4 days and I didn’t, instead I went to sleep that night after sending you yet another text. You taught me to be a strong independent woman and I thank you for that because that’s how picked myself back up after you died. I miss and love you more than words can describe!
