Student Short Film The brief was to create a film that had to last under 90 seconds (not including the credits). Edited within Premier Pro
Old images of an experiment using different angled mirrors to produce obscure shots of combined typography forms.
Movie Review
A Liar’s Autobiography
(2013), Benjamin Timlett Â
A Liar’s Autobiography is an animated documentary of Monty Pythons Graham Chapman and the life that he lived before, during and after his sketches. What I enjoyed about the movie is the collaborations of different studios and the individual styles that narrated the story of Chapman’s life.
I enjoyed the Clip ‘Biggles’ where the animation follows the pilot on his little adventure where he is trying to shoot down another plane. It is the use of the colours within the scene that grabs my attention the most as well as the camera movement as its never facing straight on the animation but always tilted similar to a Dutch angle the camera tends to be straight on when it’s a close up onto the character within the scene.

When the wind blows
(1986), Jimmy T. Murakami
Gone with the wind a hand drawn animation with physical 3D models used for furniture that plays on the fear of the Russian Cold War with the threat of a nuclear bomb hitting Brittan cantering around Hilda and Jim. We see how the threat effects both of their lives prier and after, Jim is preparing the house for the bomb attack whilst Hilda carries on with her daily routine with no worries.
I enjoyed how they added a variety of styles and mediums within the animation there a couple of scenes, which are brightly coloured crayon drawings that I find breaks up the dark aspects of the animation without taking the interest of the story away from the audience.
There’s one scene where we notice three different styles of animation that seem to work well together however the one problem I find for the scene is that one of the characters looks like a villain from Scooby doo. The character is supposed to resemble a Russian solider the artist used mainly blue colours for this character to give the audience a change of atmosphere changing the dark gloomy atmosphere to a chilling atmosphere.

Movie ReviewÂ
Mary and Max (2009) Adam ElliotÂ
Mary and Max is a light hearted animated movie that is narrated by the friendship between a lonely inquisitive young girl and an obese American middle aged man who suffers from Asperger’s. The friendship starts when Mary writes to Max asking where babies come from, their friendship continues to grow as they bond over a T.V. series and chocolate hot dogs.
Colour is used in this animation to manipulate the audience into feeling a variety of emotions, in Australia where Mary resides the film is expressed through a sepia dark tonal colour. In New York Max’s world is completely drenched within black and white that slowly become infected by Mary’s sepia after receiving her letters. Â
One of my favourite scenes within the film is when Mary's alcoholic mother is grieving inside the shed where her dead husband used to stuff bird’s after his shift at the factory he used to work at before retiring. In the scene, we watch her mother slowly die as the birds look down on her that gives the audience that the birds are inferior then her.
I did the storyboards for our film again because we changed the ending.Â
Storyboards that were created for our student short live action film by Sasha Gallagher, so happy with the out come of the story. Â

Watercolour is one of the most difficult mediums to perfect in my opinion.
This is a copy from google of the design ‘Barns In Snow’ created by Eyvind Earle with watercolours. I admire the way Earle creates a cold atmosphere just by looking at the design.Â

I have a strong admiration for the artist Jon Measures I really like his designs as they are mixed media never just one medium. Something I would love to experiment with in my free time.Â
My first task for 2d animation was to create a jumping box person, whilst using the animation principles of stretch and squash. A similar effect to this bouncing ball. (Click the image to see the Video)
