@lilith20godrich probably the right thing to do since it gets exponentially more self-important in the second half of the series.

this little mini-series is a deep dive into the story of the beatles getting high for the first time with dylan. she makes a lot of good points about the various inconsistencies of the story in the first couple of episodes, and she calls out the certainty with which beatles authors sometimes speak about events that are more muddled historically than they seem at first, which is nice to hear.

however. she also makes this assumption based on ??? nothing ??? that paul actually had a wild psychedelic mind-expanding LSD-like experience when he smoked dylan's weed, which led to Yesterday. and no matter how many times she says this theory is just a theory and she doesn't know anything for sure, she basically builds the whole mini-series around this assumption. and in the newest episode where she dissects the lyrics of Got To Get You Into My Life, she comes to the conclusion that the song is actually likely about (shocker!) john and not about weed.

it's a very tumblr-coded lyrical analysis in that it assumes the lyrics perfectly and accurately reflect things that happened in real life. so in the structure of the episode, she posits a theory for a specific interpretation of the song and then goes looking for events in the real world that point to her interpretation being right. the theory so far is that GTGYIML is a sort of apology/thank-god-he-didnt-leave song, written after a big fight where john almost left paul. my guess is that, in the next episode, she's going to theorize GTGYIML is referring to the argument they had about Yesterday.
