Better is yet to come

So, back when I was in high school we did food drives, clothes drives and changed our water fountain, etc. I faintly remember the name dropped “TerraCycle”. Now, in my home I try to use less plastic, no straws, and try to reuse anything that isn’t waste. Our decomposing vegetables go to my father’s earthworms that he is raising in an old refrigerator. I live in a poverty stricken community where everyone’s basic concern is maintaining the roof over their head and making sure their families can eat. With that being said I can understand why some can see things as global warming, climate change, and recycling as not “big deals”. However, I would like to change their way of thinking, but I know I must start simple. Maybe introduce TerraCycle to the schools or at a Board of Education meeting. If the adults are too busy why not get the kids involved? They get to do research and help learn how to save the Earth in innovative ways and even get to see how recycling works firsthand.
