“Hey, sorry I don’t mean to be a dick but are ya gonna keep clicking your pen like that?” Dom finally asked with an exasperated sigh after what felt like an hour of listening to the person next to him click their pen. “Look, I get it. It sounds great to you and feels even better, but I’m trying to work on this paper and there’s only so much these 7$ earphones can do for me.”

“Oh, sorry. It’s a nervous habit.” Mona was quick to apologize, but after a short pause she immediately shook her head. “Actually, you know what...No, I’m not sorry.” She clicked her pen. “I.” Mona clicked it once more. “Do.” Another click. “What I want.”

“Oh God no. Once my pajamas are on I’m in for the night.” He half-joked. “Wait, for real? That would actually be a real help and I’d be grateful for the chance. What would you have me doing?”

“Are you serious?” Mona was surprised. Pleasantly surprised. “Basically it will be keeping track of my schedule. Picking up Aubree from school and on nights when I have a big event, making sure Aubree does her homework. I’m not much of a tyrannical boss, so not unless it’s a busy day. It’s pretty much, just sitting around.”

“Sounds like a bit of a shit husband, but,” She blinked, the idea of a spouse who would do that being a bit baffling for her, “Well, I have an old assistant, I can see if she’s looking for a job right now.”

While Mona didn’t necessarily speak in agreement to that statement, the look on her face said otherwise. “He definitely has some selfish habits.--But that would be great, if you could! Was she an old assistant?”

“Wait, your assistant just abandoned you for your husband without telling you? Isn’t that like, a breach of contract? I mean, I worked that in when I was hiring mine. I need at least three weeks notice before they move on elsewhere or legally I can sue them. I don’t think actually would, but it’s a nice security measure to work in there just in case it’s necessary, not to mention it’s courtesy on your assistant’s part to let you know before they quit,” Anders replied, shaking his head. “I found my assistant through a temp agency on the Upper East Side, but I’d suggest getting a party planner on your side. I don’t know what your assistant was like, but I would never, ever expect mine to be able to handle planning a Sweet Sixteen. He is a good grocery shopper, though.”

“Well I consider it a breach of contract, but I don’t know how well that would work to even try to penalize her when it was my husband who decided to snatch her up.” Honestly Mona couldn’t really blame her assistant. She was angry but it wasn’t like she had much room to say anything about it. “My assistant was an angel...Up until the point that she abandoned me. She could literally do anything and everything, but I guess I should get an event planner. I also might try that temp agency you were talking about.”

“That was a wild ride from start to finish.” Flint slowly raised his own hand, “Me but I’m not sure I have the necessary skills.”

“Would you ever leave in the middle of the night without telling me to assist my husband? If the answer is no, then you’re already a step ahead of my last assistant.” A small smile graced her lips. “If you really need a job. I’m willing to give you a chance. Do it for a week or so and if you hate it or if we hate each other, then you can always quit. Of course, I’ll pay you for your time.” 

“Wow, that’s first world problems if I ever heard one,” the blonde shrugged as she tilted her head at the woman. Monroe was technically a socialite in her own right, but even she didn’t act like this woman was. “I’m not indeed.com, sweetie. I have my own assistant that helps me out and I’m not sharing her because you don’t really know how to do two things at once.”

“The bitchy act is cute, but tired and old. I don’t have time to argue with a child, especially one that still has the smell of Similac on her breath.” Mona rolled her eyes. “I’m glad you have your own two dollar assistant. I hope she’ll help you pick up the pieces of your shattered ego whenever your career goes down the drain in the very near future. Now if you don’t have anything constructive to add, besides your piss poor attitude then you can leave.” 

Adam looks up at the sound of her voice, raising a brow, “I mean, a considerable population of New York is looking for positions,” he notes, taking a sip of his coffee, “You could advertise on a job searching website, that’s probably your best bet for finding someone. I don’t know that I know anyone who’s particularly qualified, sorry.”

“Well a considerable amount of the population in New York are morons. So I don’t really see that benefiting me.” She sighed. Mona was all about the immediate gratification. She was never one to be patient and she certainly didn’t like to think about going through the process of hiring someone again, but he was right. She should start searching. “I guess I really have no other choice, sadly.” 

“Roll out the red carpets- your resident smarmy Irish arse is back from his book tour and ready to shell out major cash on some fancy cocktails. Where’re we headed first? If there’s anything I need more than being caught up on all the drama, it’s booze. Tell me everything!” 

“I can’t drink tonight. I have to be up early tomorrow.” She paused. “Oh, what the hell! A glass of wine won’t hurt.” Mona continued on as if he had said anything more to convince her. “I got puked on twice in a week. It’s been really glamorous. Living the good life.”

The paparazzi was something that Kate still wasn’t used to, the people following her after just getting a coffee stressed her out. Going up to a door, the blonde knocked a few times, seeing someone open the door. “Hey, can I hide out here for a little? These guys have been following me since I got a coffee and it’s really getting on my nerves. I won’t be long, I promise. They will leave as soon as I go inside.”

As she opened the door, Mona could only assume that it was another one of her husband’s co-stars coming over for a “visit”. “Look, Danny isn’t here right now. He’s...” Mona paused as she saw the paparazzi creeping their way towards the blonde. With a sigh and almost a glimpse of an apologetic smile, she opened her door further. “I don’t know if this will get them off you back. It might make it worst, but come on in.”
