So, i recently got a commission from a discord user, super sweet person, lets call them belle. belle had requested me to draw one of their OCs. They were telling me all about their sona, and at one point they said they wanted to stand out in the sona community, by labeling their OCs with mental disorders. for reference i have bipolar disorder, anxiety, and a few others i wont get too deep into. their sona that they were wanting me to draw was bipolar. belle said that they didnt know what bipolar disorder exactly was, but it was "possibly something that was more interesting than depression". i was shocked, disturbed even. belle went on telling me how unique this was for an OC. i asked them if they considered this to be sort of offensive to people with that condition. they went on about how people with disorders should be more accepting and not "selfish". at this point, i was getting annoyed. i told belle i had bipolar disorder and the way they were treating the concept of it was highly disrespectful, and also how it was basically making the condition seem like a fashion trend. they apologized over and over, but then continued to ask me very personal questions about the condition, even going as far as if i ever thought about hurting people due to the strong emotions bipolar disorder could possibly have on me. i told belle that i would have to refuse their commission and not to contact me personally again due to me personally becoming uncomfortable. i blocked bell and a day later i gotten a message from belle's parent. not only was i even more pissed, but belle had lied about their age. my policy is 18+. Belle's parent went on how i was too harsh on them, and how i could just be understanding for A 14 YEAR OLD and continue the commission. i refused due to the now discovery that they were a minor. i wasted no time on blocking the parent because i did not want this situation becoming something involved with authorities. I'm considering doing a follower check to see who is a minor so i can make sure everyone stays safe, and also considering shutting down my commissions for a bit.
