official molidae post
there are five species in the Molidae family:
Mola alexandrini - the bump head mola is the largest of the Molidae species and has the ability to shift its colors to appear more bold or muted.
Mola tectus - the hoodwinter sunfish look very similar to Mola mola but have a slimer, less bumpy body shape.
Mola mola - the ocean sunfish is the star of the sunfish family. They are the most common and widely known.
Masturus lanceolatus - the sharptailed sunfish is unique for its differently shaped clavus that, when an adult, extends in a point.
Ranzania laevis - the smallest of all of Molidae, the slender sunfish grows to at most a meter long. They are distinctly less round than their larger relatives.
