Engineer for Mary

Was a shop/ engineering teacher

Got his PHD in mechanical engineering with a minor in environmental science (so not ALL hope is lost when the scientist didn’t make it)

Adrian was one of the scientists but watched rocky make things long enough that they know how to make basic things

Simon designs and Adrain builds (good enough)

Was shunned from his field because he criticized a respected engineers designs for being too extra in his designs that it was mostly bells and whistles than actual functionality and was just an excuse to charge more for their work

Asked by Ava because they needed a way to propel the Hail Mary using astrophage (someone already figured how to breed it and gave him a run down on how the toot to scoot) but keep it as minimal as possible

In the end Simon designed most of the Hail Mary

Doesn’t actually know a lot about chemistry so Adrian does the heavy lifting and a fair amount of the interpretation

Told Ava that he didn’t want to go but shes a master manipulator so she guilt tripped him into oblivion until he agreed

Surprisingly good pilot

Adrian has not the best “sight” so they do a lot of stomping and tapping to see better

Both have some anger issues and short fuses

However, make an amazing team

Ryland/Convict/The Coward

Is a scientist (self taught and self proclaimed) but in the end everyone is a soldier

The scapegoat (or the fall guy) for fillament station

Didn’t want to go but since he was the only convict who knew any form of science was chosen

Was given the illusion of choice by being told that he would help discover a new life form (hes curious and needs all the knowledge) and he agreed to it since they said he would get his freedom

That was before he was aware it was a one way trip, you know the rest

Still got amnesia and the sm-18 handbook and Eva over the radio fed him lies to make sure he didn’t sabotage it

Wants to study his own mutations

His beanbag was a gift from his mother

A single plant seed is hidden within

Can fight, tries to not, stature is very misleading and clothing hides his physique

Still cries a lot

Especially on the ship, he has so many bottled up emotions that he wasn’t allowed to express

Terrified and confused but he’s hopelessly curious about everything

Once on the Hail Mary and gets comfortable he will yap and is surprised that simon actually listens since no one ever did

Could have insightful conversations with Adrian

Photo studies from every universe except the original to spice it up. Also a practice for me to be more loose and try and cure my perfectionism (I still got in the weeds on some of them)
