Making him the "Only Sane One".

Its on par with the "team Dad" thing.

Like, I absolutely think that Hunter is in on all the weird stuff, and causes his own weird shit too, and has to be pulled out of it by his brothers (and vice reversa).

Like no, he's not the exception of the BBs. The Entire Tattoo on his face is literally his character showing off that he's Not the Exception, He's not the "Normal" one, he's just as much apart of the band of weirdos as the rest of them.

If anything, the "only sane one" should go to Echo.

Hunter's character, like the rest of them, should be about showing off how he's similar to the rest of the BBs, not how he's different. He's their brother, not their babysitter.

Testing out a brush. I rather like the pencil outline style. Solid Ink... doesn't quite feel right.

One thing that's gotta be noted about aesthetical designs is that, you can lean into them. They don't just have to be aesethetic, they can be symbollic--maybe of the story's themes, maybe of the character, or the environment.

Dressup isn't just about looking good.

And Hunter has an excellent symbollic make up. The fact that his half-skull isn't thematically empathsized as part of his character is not just tragic, its a waste.

You can do so much with it, have a character "conversation" to the audience and story about it. What if that skull is symbollic of inner darkness? What about inner beast hood? What if its emotional?

How about pain and endurance? After all, in reality, a tattoo like that is going to be extremely painful.

What about the conflicting nature between the bare face and the skull?

So I gots analysis.

I prolly need to seriously sit down with the BB Arc and just, note every detail, comparison, and make like, a full documented analysis of it. Including Cut-Content, because Disney's script editing left its final version with holes both in plot and character.

Where Crosshair pokes holes in reg's logic, Hunter pokes holes in his brother's logics. And its pretty obvious that nobody on the team takes these seriously, on account that Wrecker is still grinning when Hunter is berating him.

For Hunter, it all comes off as "fluff". He's not actually berating them, he's putting on a show in front of people.

Hunter tends to be evasive enough that a lot of what he does feels like an act or a "mask" (nice pun on his tattoo). Which is why I've always pegged him as being "sergeant in name only" and more or less just equals with the team behind closed doors.

Sorry folks, but I find the idea that he's the team dad to be dumb. Hunter is the quiet weird kid in the back of the classroom that can be ultra serious or a class clown at any given point depending on who's talking to him, but in times of pressure, will reveal just how anxious he is about everything. But in his element, he's the wise-beyond-years expert. He's the Allison Reynolds of CFF99's Breakfast Club. That's my view of him. He's just as weird as the rest of his team, he merely hides it better.

For Crosshair, its because he's a dick.

Crosshair is direct enough that frankly, he's blunt and tactless. He purposely incites for... reasons of pride maybe? Pride is usually a good cause for it. The fact that the rest of his team doesn't find it alarming, probably shows that he's a troll and that reacting to him is probably worse for you.

There isn't a Breakfast Club equal to Cross, but the first major comparison I ever pegged him as, would be Granny Weatherwax from the Discworld. Edging along being the Wicked Witch, clearly arrogant and nitpicky and critical and judgey, but far too prideful in inner-morality to ever cross that line.

Hunter has an interesting contrast in being both Close and Impersonal, as well as taking a Worldly view.

This is best shown in his abilities; he's a melee fighter, favoring a knife and blaster, and his initial persona is just that, a personage.

His senses, a deeper trait of his, is the capacity to take the empathetic world-view, adapting to the area he's in with analogy on how he adapts to who's around him.

It makes things less personal, more useful... But at the cost of himself.

I rather suspect that Hunter, like all those who put on such personal performance in their day to day lives, might not know or acknowledge who he is. At least, not to anyone outside of his team.

Crosshair's is the opposite; he's very firm on who he is and what he does and believes in and adapts to no one. It makes him distant... but it also makes things Personal when he rubs someone the wrong way, purposeful or nonpurposeful.

His is also shown in his abilities; as enhanced sight and a Sniper. He is keenly perceptive and calculating with a solid grasp of his values, and when he fires and hits the mark, it's bone deep.

But he also severely tunnel visions as a result. While he's not necessarily wrong about other clone troopers, he also tends to incite the very cause of his issue with them, with all sorts of purposes, such as a) to cause shit because he's a dick, b) to redirect shit towards him so that it avoids hitting one of his teammates (such as Rex and Hunter, which Crosshair redirected at himself with one of his more infamous lines).

And because I did make it a point to show off that Hunter is a foil to Echo...

Echo to Hunter in his case, would be someone who appears to be a rule-totter until you realize that Echo only catches up on the rules--so that he knows how to circumvent and break them.

Where Hunter adapts to people and environments, Echo adapts to situations and systems.

There's a reason why I consider Echo as akin to Twilight Sparkle; being extremely book smart and generally friendly and outgoing, but not very good at reading into natures and environments beyond his own.

There's a level of confidence in Echo that Hunter lacks, just as there's a level of adaptability in Hunter that Echo lacks.
