The REAL struggles of Tiny Living (so far)
Happy monday night and yay for my first, real post. Let me start off by saying this month has been pretty hectic. My move to Nashville was quick paced and stressful. Once I moved in though, I decided to take a couple trips to catch up with family before fully settling into my new lifestyle and career. With all that said and done, Iāve really only had about a week and a halfās worth of time in my little rv. I thought Itād be ideal to talk about my current hardships while Iām still in this phase of adjustment. MaybeĀ itāll help me cope, or just laugh. Weāll see!Ā These are the struggles Iāve encountered so far:Ā
My space is almost always cluttered AF:
Now, let me just say messiness and clutter donāt really bother me, especially not when itās my own stuff Iām surrounded by, but tiny living clutter is completely different from regular clutter. This is the kind of stuff that makes me laugh. I really have face wash and olive oil in the same spot along with cookies from my recent flight to CO. Not to mention a casual Virgen de Guadalupe candle just chillin in the midst of it all. Luckily I have lots of storage hidden underneath my bed and table. Also, since Iām in such a small space, clean up takes about ten minutes. Iāve just really had to discipline myself, and make sure everything I have is essential (to me), and that each item will eventually make it back to its own designated space.Ā
ps. I wrote this^ a few days ago and saved it as a draft- my place is even messier now so lol, sorry optimistic bailey but you havenāt once taken 10 minutes to clean up please stop watching game of thronesĀ
Iāve had to deal with the elements:
*Insert rain cloud emoji, snowflake emoji, swearing emoji and tornado emoji here*
Okay, maybe not tornado emoji (yet), but one of the real struggles lately has been weather. When I first moved into my tiny space, it was negative three degrees, which for me is technically a breeze since I came from Minnesota, but for Nashville, that is a record breaking low. To say I had āfrostbiteā was an understatement. Thankfully it only took FORTY FIVE MINUTESĀ for my heaters to kick in. :) Ā My body temperature was once again regulated, thank not only god but jesus.Ā
MUD is another story though. My car is stuck for the second time as Iām writing this. My backyard is an actual swamp, and Iām feeling more like shrek by the minute. Especially when I walk out of my outhouse where my compost toilet is.
USING A COMPOST (I think itās compost I donāt know, my landlord got it for me and the instructions sayĀ āeco-toilet byĀ shark bite plumbingā)Ā TOILET LOL:
So I wonāt get into this too deeply, because Iām honestly embarrassed, but since this is a genuine tiny-living blog, Iāll do my best. Basically I had trouble dumping it in itās ādesignated areaā for the first time (today), and Iām still emotionally scarred by it. Toilet paper needed to be cleaned up...I felt likeĀ Ā Michael Gregory Rowe (born March 18, 1962) is an American actor primarily known as a television host and narrator. He is known for his work on the Discovery Channel series Dirty Jobs (google search in-text citation). I then managed to slip in mud four times before figuringĀ out I wasĀ ādumpingā it in the wrong pipe the whole time and thatās why the disposal hose wasnāt fitting and yatayatayata. HopefullyĀ Itāll be easier next time. Also, (asking for a friend) does anyone know of an over the counter medication thatāll slow your digestive system? Kinda like a laxative but the opposite? k thanks.Ā :)))))))))))
All in all this is a learning experience and Iām still in the early stages of it all. The best thing I can do is laugh at myself and hope tomorrow will be easier.Ā Either way Iām actually having a lot of fun, and itās nice to be challenged and mentally aware of how to survive in my surroundings-which reminds me! My next blog post will be my audition tape for Naked and Afraid.Ā
Just kidding <3 bye!
