Hygge was one of my favorites, this one came as a 15 passenger van with 360° windows. I pulled all the seating out, pulled out all the OEM walls and ceiling, and then started building it out. The coolest thing about this one, is 360° views!

Cynthia's van, the coolest chick in the southwest! Cythina travels in her van about 50-75% of the year, she's seen it all, has the most positive outlook on life, building her van brought us together, a true friend. Oh, was I supposed to be talking about vans? Yes, um ok... 700 watts of solar loaded on the roof of a tiny 144 AWD sprinter, has a fridge, and a separate freezer, a shower that's hidden in the kitchen, and more storage than some kitchens have.

Ambra Home: Redefining Tiny Living and Spatial Efficiency
Innovation in the World of Tiny Homes
TinyKiwi.house has created an honest and refreshing model in the small Ambra home. While the tiny home movement has been moving towards complex and costly constructions, this Romanian company has chosen a different approach, focusing on simplicity and essential functionality. The Ambra version minimizes unnecessary elements and concentrates on what truly matters: providing a practical and beautiful home for two within a compact 161-square-foot space. This concept demonstrates that reducing square footage does not mean sacrificing quality or comfort.
Natural Light as a Core Element
The home's façade immediately captures attention with its large windows. A panoramic window dominates the front, allowing natural light to flood the interior throughout the day. This intelligent use of lighting transforms the compact space into a bright and open environment, creating a sense of openness that connects residents with the outdoors. The use of interior design techniques enhances the overall ambiance and comfort.
Modern Design and Functionality
Beyond light, the home's modern design and clean lines highlight the designers’ ability to combine visual appeal with practical efficiency. The thoughtful placement of windows and interior spaces enhances the feeling of spaciousness, making Ambra a prime example of how to balance small size with contemporary comfort. This project also serves as an interesting case in projects emphasizing smart space usage.
Maximizing every square inch, the interior of Ambra House combines sleeping, dining, and cooking areas into one fluid space.
Comfort meets functionality with a cozy seating area and a compact wood-burning stove for efficient heating.
Smart Planning for Every Inch
Upon entering the home, Ambra’s intelligent layout becomes immediately apparent. Every square inch serves a specific purpose without feeling cramped or sacrificing comfort. The space flows seamlessly from the kitchen area to the living room, where the double bed anchors the room as a focal point. A small seating area and dining table provide dedicated spaces for relaxation and meals, ensuring that each part of the home is assigned to a particular activity. The bathroom occupies its own separate section, maintaining privacy within the open plan, while a wood-burning stove adds warmth and a cozy focal point, elevating the home from a basic shelter to a higher level of genuine comfort.
Versatility and Flexibility
One of Ambra’s standout features is its versatility coupled with high-quality craftsmanship. Buyers can choose to place the home on a trailer structure, creating a mobile retreat—perfect for those seeking the freedom to move and the independence to select their location. Alternatively, it can serve as a permanent home for those desiring a fixed address. This adaptability demonstrates principles of construction that cater to modern lifestyle needs.
Attention to Detail and Livability
TinyKiwi.house brings professional expertise in architecture and interior design to every build, focusing on high-end finishes and smart spatial planning. The single-floor design eliminates the need for loft sleeping arrangements commonly found in many tiny homes, making daily living easier and more comfortable without the need to climb stairs after a long day. Such attention to detail can be found in many building materials and design solutions explored in contemporary architectural archives.
The minimalist kitchen design in Ambra House utilizes dark tones and clean lines to maintain an uncluttered atmosphere.
Intelligent zoning allows the kitchen and bedroom areas to coexist without sacrificing style or comfort.
Affordability and Accessibility
Price is a key attraction for the Ambra home in today’s housing market. Starting at €32,000 (approximately $37,000), the home offers a move-in ready living experience at a fraction of the cost of many other tiny homes. The company also provides customization options, allowing buyers to adjust the layout and aesthetics according to their preferences while maintaining the core efficient design.
Sustainability and Space Efficiency
This design speaks directly to couples seeking to minimize their environmental footprint and embrace a lifestyle centered on freedom and connection with nature. The compact footprint translates to lower utility costs, reduced environmental impact, and less time spent on maintenance, giving residents more time to live and less time managing spaces they don’t actually need.
The Philosophy of Tiny Living
Ambra represents what tiny home living should be: accessible, practical, and unapologetically small. It does not aim to be a miniature version of a traditional home with all its complexities, but instead embraces its compact nature and works with it, creating harmony between space and purpose. For those overwhelmed by housing costs or the burden of maintaining large spaces, Ambra offers a practical alternative without feeling like a compromise.
Balancing Beauty and Simplicity
TinyKiwi.house proves that beauty, simplicity, and freedom can coexist at an affordable price, making minimalist living more achievable for more people than ever before.
Large glass doors ensure that the interior of Ambra House is always connected to the outdoor landscape.
Wooden wall panels provide warmth and a sense of continuity throughout the tiny home's interior.
At night, the Ambra House transforms into a glowing lantern, highlighting its geometric form and sloped roofline.
✦ ArchUp Editorial Insight
From an architectural standpoint, the Ambra home offers a clear demonstration of efficient use of small spaces, natural light, and smart planning, which can be considered a key strength of its design. However, the project raises questions about the true flexibility of such limited spaces and the nature of long-term living. While the compact footprint is effective, it may not fully accommodate family diversity or sustainable storage needs, and the single-floor design could limit possibilities for expansion or adaptation to different living patterns. Similarly, mounting the home on a trailer structure provides mobility, but imposes constraints on connections and infrastructure compared to traditional homes.
Architectural practitioners can benefit from this project as a case study in embracing simplicity and effective space planning, while noting the limitations of this approach over the long term and how sustainability concepts can be integrated with usability and scalability. Ambra opens the door to broader discussions about compact living versus residential flexibility, making it a valuable reference project for analysis rather than a comprehensive model for all housing environments.
