heyyy im here to make a request 🫡
your writing is so good you should def write one for cedric. I think itd be super cute if it followed a girl from slytherin (or any other house i just thought thatd be cute) admiring him from afar and soon she catches his eye too. and this can be from small gestures on her side, or just him noticing at some point. also yk how hes lowk popular w the girls, this is so funny but you could make him actually notice her more because shes not constantly bothering him for his attention ykwim?? BUT you can do whatever i trust you !! ty

Cedric Diggory X Slytherin reader
Cedric had been voted most Handsome and eligible bachelor for years, and it wasn't a surprise. With his dirty blonde hair, sharp jawline, grey eyes, loads of girls would follow him around constantly. It only got worse when he put his name into the Goblet and got chosen alongside Harry as the Hogwarts Champion. Girls wore badges with his faces on it, and people would clap for him whilst he walked by them. Teachers praised him, guys copied him, and girls loved him.
He seemed unphased by it, flashing everyone a charismatic smile and wink.
You had bigger things to worry about, besides his dumb smile and pretty eyes. For some reason, school work seemed to ramp up despite no one bothering to do it, and drama only seemed to build with every passing second. Astoria had been complaining about what felt like hours, in actuality only 20 minutes, Draco not asking her out to the Yule ball yet, and Pansy had been trying on dresses and coming out every few minutes asking for your opinion.
Laying on your bed, you mindlessly doodled, listening to them both vent, overcome with stress. "Hey, when are you getting a dress?" Astoria quipped, taking a break talking about Draco. You froze. You didn't have the heart to tell them you planned on skipping it. You had neither a date nor a dress, and it would be the perfect night to catch up on all the missing work. "Uh, I'm not sure yet." You responded, tucking your hair behind your ear, not meeting her eyes. Pansy clicked her teeth. "Right. I have one perfect for you, go try it on." She pointed towards her closet, giving you a look that meant business. You groaned, rolling out of bed. You sauntered over to her closet, pulling a long buttercream coloured dress. "This one?" You asked, surprised. Pansy wasn't the type to own bright coloured dresses. She nodded. "Mhm. I bought it for you, I knew you were going to pull some excuse out of your arse about not coming." She knew you far too well. "Guyss, come on. I don't even have a date! There's no need for me to come!"
They both shoot you a dirty look. Astoria finally spoke. "Me and you both know damn well you could ask anyone and they'd say yes. You're just making excuses because you don't want to come for some odd reason." You sighed, exasperated.
Trying on the dress, you realized how well pansy truly knew you. It suited your complexion extremely well. You pulled your hair out of the bun it was in, allowing your hair to fall down past your shoulders, watching yourself in the mirror. A smile slowly crept onto your lips. Pansy knocked on the door, demanding you come out. Hesitantly, you walked out, to them both cheering.
"OK, now you HAVE to come." Pansy said, grinning. You nodded, caving in. There were no other opportunities for you to wear such a lovely dress. "Thank you, pans." You said, hugging her tightly. She smiled. "Aww." Astoria said, getting up to join you guys.
"Now all we need to do is get you a date!"
You groaned, pushing her playfully. "Can't I just take you?"
It was a few days until the first trial, and your cousin had come to the school to help set something up. He specialised in dragons, so you already had a pretty good feeling what the trial was going to be about. He swore you to secrecy, and you obliged, remaining silent. You watched as the whole school buzzed in excitement, waiting for the Tournament to begin.
You kept yourself busy, being a part of the Yule ball Committee and having to think about how to decorate it. You spent hours communicating with other houses, painstakingly ignoring each stereotype people tried to apply to you. Finally, you find yourself looking for a few moments of peace in the astronomy tower after hours. Looking out, you looked at the stars that seemed infinite, speckling the sky as if it was paint.
You heard someone's shoes click, and turned your head around, the wind blowing in your hair.
"Oh, carry on, don't mind me." Cedric stood there, watching you, with his hands in his pockets. He smiled, his face softer than usual. There was something different about him. He seemed as if he was rid of all his usual shiny exterior, and now, felt real. You stared at him, breathless for a few seconds, shocked. "Do you want me to go?" He asked, stepping forward. You shook your head. "It's quite alright." You murmured, your voice coming out quieter than you expected. "I can go." You began to walk when he reached out for your wrist. "You don't have too."
You looked at his fingers, as they wrapped around your wrist, not tightly but carefully assertive. You looked up back at his face. The night had caused a blue shadow to engulf over his features, his eyes narrowing in on you. You offered him a smile. "I was feeling tired anyways." You said, politely breaking free of his grip. He nodded, performing a slight bow.
"Allow me to escort you?" He said. "It would be improper if you walked by at such late hours." He added. Of course, Cedric is the perfect gentleman. Though, perhaps on another day you would've denied his offer, walking far away from him, today felt different.
You wordlessly agreed, and he began to walk with you. He made no attempt to fill the void of silence between you, until halfway through your walk. "I'm nervous." He spoke.
You looked at him, raising your eyebrow. "About?" You whispered back, not noticing how you were leaning into him. "The trial, of course." He didn't look into your eyes. "You? Cedric Diggory is nervous?" You chuckled under your breath. You looked at him, noticing his expression. "Hey, you'll be fine," A surge of confidence went through you as you reached for his hand, squeezing it. "It'll be easy for someone like you."
"Someone like me?" He whispered back, asking for me to speak more. "You know. Someone brave, strong." You watched as his gaze softened. "You don't know that." He said, his voice unfamiliar, almost lost in thought. You paused. He was right. You had watched Cedric Diggory for years, just as much as every girl in these very halls. But you never bothered to talk to him, or fawn over him. You thought of yourself as too good to do that, to sink beneath your expectations of love and obsess over a guy who never gave you a chance. But in these very moments, he felt unlike himself.
All you could do was continue to walk with him in silence. "Your cousin, he came back right?" Your stomach dropped for a second. Of course Cedric wasn't talking to you from the goodness of his heart, he simply knew how to make you feel as if you were special, and take what he wanted. You nodded. "Do you know what the challenge is?" His words were shaky.
Looking at the floor, you pondered answering. You could be truthful, and watch him be happy, relieved even. Though, a part of you wanted to lie, for him to pester you with questions and interest. "Maybe." was all you could land on.
He nodded, almost as if he expected you to not give him a straight answer. Then, an idea ripped through you. How on earth did he know your cousin came? "Wait, how did you-" You started, looking up at him. He raised his eyebrow, urging you to continue. "How did you know my cousin came?"
He laughed. "Of course I know, it's not like people don't know who you are?" Your eyes widened. For some reason, you never thought people noticed you. You were a less problematic member of slytherin, who of course had pride for your house but you weren't an extremist like your cousin Draco. It never crossed your mind that people knew who you were outside of your little group, and some of your classmates. "What makes you say that?" You ask, curiosity in your voice. He stared at you as if you didn't have a clue of who you were. You didn't even realize you were at the stairs of your common room, and your walk had finished.
"It's impossible not to notice you."
He said it as if it was nothing, but his body language gave him away. He was looking everywhere but your eyes, and nervously tapped his feet. You offered him a polite smile, ignoring your insides churning.
"Right back at you, Diggory."
You muttered the password, pushing the door open. Turning your head around, you snuck a look at him. He was already 2 meters apart, his back turned.
What you didn't see was him turning his head around the second he heard you retreat inside, staring at the door. Silently, his grin began to grow. Finally, he was able to talk to the one girl who never seemed interested in him, and somehow his interest in her only grew.
On the day of the trial, you woke up earlier than everyone else. Dragging yourself out of your bed was a challenge, but so was remaining quiet. Finishing all of your morning tasks, you found yourself putting a little more effort into your makeup and hair. You gave yourself a final look into the mirror, admiring yourself.
You pushed your dorm room open, exiting down the long winded stairs, and finding yourself outside near the waiting tent. for champions. You lingered, making small talk with other students and avoiding pestering interviewers, when you heard someone call your name. It was Cedric, gesturing for you to step into the tent.
You discretely entered it, avoiding Harry, Victor Krum and Fleur Delacour's intrigued faces. You stared at him, overcome with emotion you weren't used to. You barely knew him, but you still found yourself nervous and anxious for what was waiting for him. You threw your arms around him, wrapping each other in an embrace. He placed his hands in your hair, as if he were supposed to be comforting you, and not the other way around.
You pulled away, but placed your hands in his. "Be careful, okay? Don't do anything reckless, please." Your voice quivered slightly. He smiled, cupping your face with his hands. "Got it." You stared at him, eyes scanning his face, when you heard Rita Skeeter scream in delight, making her camera man flash a picture of you two. You pulled away from Cedric, snapping back into reality. You gave him one more look, nodding at him. He nodded back, as if you two made a deal with each other. No nonsense, no messing around.
It's December 15th, and the whole school has somehow gotten even more excited at the Yule ball creeping up. Draco finally worked up the courage to ask Astoria, and Pansy was still holding out hope someone cute would ask her. Meanwhile, you still couldn't shake the interaction you had with Cedric a few weeks ago. You found yourself changing your walking routes to pass by him, or hanging out at the court yard where you knew you'd see him instead of the library studying. You were yet to tell anyone, scared of how your friends would react. You and a Hufflepuff? No way. And that Hufflepuff being Cedric somehow made it worse.
You were determined to find a way to distract yourself, so today you decided to visit the black lake and capture the beauty of it on film. As you carefully snapped a few pictures, you took your eyes off your camera and sat down to admire the lake. It's always gorgeous, but something about it when it was frozen over, and trees barren, added an excellent romantic element to it.
It was mainly silent, until you heard a creak. You turned around, expected to see a squirrel but instead was met with Cedric. He walked towards you, and sat down with you. "Surprised to see me?" He said.
You couldn't deny you were. "A little." He smiled, glad to hear your response. "I never thanked you, for when you helped me out right before trial. So, thank you." You let out a shaky exhale, somehow feeling heat rise to your cheeks. "No worries. I'm just glad you made it out alive." That got a chuckle out of him. "Did you have no faith in me?" He playfully nudged you. You rolled your eyes. "I know you have a tendency to be flashy, so maybe I'm surprised you didn't die by flame."
You both looked at each other, locking eyes, and then unexpectedly laughed together. You feel your nerves leave your body, letting your whole body un-tense.
"So, you going to the ball?" He says, his voice smooth as butter. You shrug your shoulders. "Well, I've got a dress and all, but I'm not sure I even wanna go. Though, I can't deny the drama from this ball has been amazing." He clicks his tongue. "I won't deny, all of my mates have been freaking out."
That piqued your interest.
"Why is that?" You ask, tilting your head. "Well, all of my friends want dates of course. They're wondering when I'll ask someone." You watch as his shifts closer to you, but you don't move away. "You should ask someone soon. I know you think every girl loves you, but not everyone is gonna wait for you to ask a girl Diggory." You pray your comment lands playfully and not targeted. Thankfully, Cedric knows how to take a joke. "Really? Tell that to my fan club."
You chuckle. A handful of 10 ish girls frequently followed him around, desperate for his attention, often writing absurd things in the Hogwarts Gossip column. "So, are you going with anyone?"
You pause. A few months ago, it would've been absurd if someone told you that you and Cedric Diggory were talking about yule ball dates. "No." You answered, brisk.
He smiled, looking at you. "Okay, that's good." He got up, and right before walking away, he handed you his coat. "Don't freeze to death out here." You reach for it, but instead, he grabs your hand, lifting you up. "Actually, I've changed my mind. How about you come inside, it's far too cold." You let out a startled laugh, and yanked his coat out of his hand. You wrap it around your body, letting the warmth spread around you. You noticed it smelt like pine, and a hint of cinnamon.
"Alright, let's get moving then."
There's a week until The yule ball. Pansy finally worked up the courage to ask a girl out that she's been eyeing for a bit, and Astoria couldn't help but ramble on and on about her and Draco.
You found yourself laying on the floor, laying next to the fire in the Common room as pansy fiddled with your hair. "Why don't you do what I did, ask a girl as just friends?" You rolled around, facing her. " First off, you didn’t ask that girl as just friends, and second, what makes you believe I need a date?" She shrugged. "You're gorgeous, you deserve a date!"
Astoria made a hmph sound. "I saw something in the Column recently." Her voice seemed quieter than usual. "I told you to stop reading that rubbish!" You sit up, facing her. Her face looked slightly guilty, but not in the usual way when she gossiped and felt bad. "You were in it."
Pansy let out a dry laugh.
"Ha ha. Her?" She pointed a finger at you. "You? No way. Unless the Column has decided that they need to run a family issue on the Malfoy's?" She said, joking. She paused when she saw your confused face.
"What did it say?" You said, getting up and moving towards the couch where Astoria was sitting. She nervously played with her hair, a habit you learnt about her over time. "That you like Cedric."
Pansy snickered. "Okay, now I know they're bored." She looked at you, seeing your horrified expression. "Relax, they make up a new lie of a week. This is a new low though, even for this stupid Column." You let out a sigh of relief. You wished everyone was like Pansy, but you knew Hogwarts loved drama, especially about (change) Cedric.
Astoria raised her eyebrow, slightly unconvinced, but said nothing.
That night, when everyone fell asleep, you laid in bed silent, awake with an unheard of emotion. You were nervous. Nervous to see Cedric's face, and most of all, nervous with how you felt.
You realised for the first time, not only did you like Cedric, but now everyone would find out soon enough.
It was surprising to see that Cedric approached you first. What was more surprising was him pulling you into an empty cramped stairway, placing a hand around your mouth, making sure you couldn't speak. You raised an eyebrow, but made no protest to fight him.
"I'm going to say something that sounds very dumb, but just go with it okay? Would you, Only if you'd like... perhaps.." His voice trailed off, and he became increasingly less confident as your gaze pierced into him. He dropped his hand, and placed his other one over you, almost unconsciously pinning you to the wall. "Finish your sentence, Diggory. You can't get cold feet right after you pull me into this dusty place."
That gets a laugh out of him, and he runs his fingers through his hair. "Do you want to go to the Yule ball with me?"
You let out a shakily long breath. You knew it was coming, but hearing those words come from his mouth seemed so unreal. But, you decided you want to try to play it cool.
"Uh, I mean, I guess." You avoided eye contact, afraid your eyes would give it away.
He said nothing, pulling away from you ever so slightly. "You sound as if I'm holding you at gun point. Do you want to come with me, or?" You froze. You had this amazing ability of never showing your emotions fully, and in cases like this, it was such a downside.
"No, I do, I do!" You blurt out. His grin widens. "It's just, are we going as friends..?" You couldn't help but be curious. Was he just feeding into the school's Column? Or was he realising that all the girls were taken and you were good enough to take?
He reached out to play with your hair, twirling it. "Whatever you want, Darling." You instantly flush at his words. Those don't seem like friend words, but you're still confused.
"Alright, then we're not going as friends. Unless you don't want that." You state, trying to play it extremely casual. He leans in, invading your personal space. "I'd love that, actually."
He leans closer, pressing a kiss on your cheek, pulling away and giving you a wink.
"I'll see you soon, my not-friend."
He walked away, descending down the stairs, leaving you alone with your thoughts racing, and your heart pounding. Did that just happen? Did you just get asked out to the Yule Ball and kissed by Cedric Diggory?
Someone pinch you, this has to be some sick twisted dream.
The night of the Yule Ball rolled around, and it was everything you imagined. You made sure that night that every decoration was carefully placed, and everything would go to accord. But for some odd reason, you had this large pit in your stomach as the night grew older.
You finally had enough time to rush back to your room, where you found Astoria finishing off her makeup and pansy curling her hair. "Ugh, where have you been! I know you want to be prefect but, you're genuinely doing far too much for the Yule Ball, have fun!" Astoria said, beckoning you to come over.
Pansy chimed a hum of agreement. "So, you gonna tell us who you're going with today?"
You still hadn't told your friends that you were going with Ced yet, and you were anxious to see their reaction. "I'm going with Cedric." They both paused, looking at you. "Diggory."
"WE KNOW ITS DIGGORY YOU DUMBARSE!" They both screamed in unison. "Why on earth didn't you tell us?" Pansy said, shaking you slightly aggressively. "I'm sorry! I was just nervous!" You say, gasping for breath as Astoria battered you with pillows.
"Don't be foolish, we're your best friends!" You sighed, pushing your hair out of your face. "Okay, fine fine. And, maybe I was having a difficult time admitting I liked him." You stuffed your face in a pillow, hiding yourself out of embarrassment. They shared a look at each other, as if they had been secretly betting on your crush on Cedric for years.
"Alright, let's get you dressed, yeah?" Astoria yanked you up, dragging you to the bathroom.
You had to meet Cedric a bit earlier because the Ball was opened by the champions and their dates. He told you to meet him in the courtyard, and to not forget your coat. You secretly hoped that he'd forget the latter so he'd offer yours, but you didn't want to trouble him.
Astoria and Pansy dropped you off, making you promise you'd 'behave' yourself. You rolled your eyes, and turned around, to see cedric waiting with a bouquet of flowers. You felt your heart leap out of your chest.
You didn't have any idea how he knew your favourite flower, but you had a feeling that he had ways of finding out.
You found yourself picking up the pace, walking faster towards him. His face lit up, and he embraced you, lifting you up ever so slightly with only one arm, his other hand still holding onto the flowers carefully.
"Cedric! You shouldn't have!" You gush, though, you're secretly incredibly grateful he brought them, for you to have a memoir of tonight. He grinned, and kissed your cheek. "You deserve them. Pretty flowers for a prettier girl."
You two stand together in silence, standing close enough that you could feel the heat radiating off of him. He breaks the silence first. "I'd love to spend the night together here alone with you, but I think it's best if we get to the opening right?" He asks playfully, grabbing your hand.
You nod. "Well, they can't start without our lovely champion can they?" He smiles back at you. "Don't flatter me."
You two walk all the way together to the Yule ball, and you can't help but be amazed at how everything worked out for you too.
As you walked, you felt him squeeze your hand three times, knowing instantly what it meant.
