📣This week’s Modern Hero is none other than the marvelous human being Tara Henn @tara.reiner 🌹 Tara, thank you so much for your unwavering commitment to your community and your class. Per @loverockyemma heart-warming nomination: “Wow! She sure does deserve it! She goes above and beyond trying to teach and care for her class of gifted 3rd graders at Calusa Elementary School. Due to Covid-19, some students attend school in person, and some attend virtually. The same teacher has to teach both the in person and the virtual students at the same time. As an educator myself, I can tell you that this is SOOOOOOOOOOOO difficult. In a perfect world, it would be simply 'difficult', but we are not in a perfect world and TECHNOLGY does not always cooperate!😡 Poor Mrs. Henn has to deal with internet outages at the school which cause the distance learners to go offline (hence creating more work for her who must stop instruction, think quickly and send out an alternate assignment for the virtual learners to do). Individual students have their own technology issues at home that they ask the teacher to help with (even though she can't do anything about it). Virtual learners try to learn from their beds in their pajamas while eating breakfast instead of being dressed and ready to learn at a desk. Parents come into the classroom virtually, despite this being a big NO-NO and do crazy things that are completely beyond her control. Oh-and then there's that virus called Covid-19 that she has to pray she does not get from the cute little kiddies in her classroom every day. 😷I could go on for days about all of the challenges Mrs. Henn faces on a daily basis, but I am sure you get the idea! She is most deserving of the Modern Hero award!🏆 P.S.
