just watched heartstopper forever, and currently feeling more than slightly emotional. the show and comics have had such a profound impact on me, and have been such a place of comfort for the last 4 years, it’s weird to think it’s all come to an end.
sitting here as a just turned 23 year old, i can't help but think of not just 18 year old me, who cried watching nick figure out his sexuality, but 14 year old me, too, who sat in her room at 1am watching “how i knew i was bisexual” youtube videos just like he did. she deserves something as hopeful as this.
(would 14 year old me also be shocked to know that i’ve been to one of the gay bars in leeds right near where nick and charlie go in the epilogue? probably lol)
after spending the last few weeks rereading all the books and rewatching the whole show, i know that heartstopper to me will always be about growing up and learning more about who you are and surrounding yourself with people you can truly be yourself around. it’s about looking back and seeing how far you’ve come.
thank you @aliceoseman @chronicintrovert for creating this world <3

I knew you'd do me good, the first time I met you. I knew I wouldn't mind being in your debt.
i’m seeing more posts online these days about women recognising that their choice to shave their legs/whole body is influenced by the patriarchy and that their choices don’t exist in a vacuum (which i LOVE, people are waking up) but this type of content is now being met with this wave of videos that are all like “omg 🥺 stop being so mean to women who shave 🥺🥺 i literally do it for me & me only!! it makes me feel more confident & pretty & hygienic. feminism is about letting women make whatever choices they want!!” ok????? i’m sorry but you are not facing oppression for altering yourself to fit into the expectations society has placed on women. a few people online speaking harshly is not the same as years of being pressured and shamed and judged for not changing your body into what society deems acceptable and desirable for a woman.
nobody is forcing you to stop shaving, they’re just asking you to think critically about why you started. why do you only feel beautiful and confident and hygienic without body hair (the same body hair that men just get to exist with)? you have been conditioned since birth to believe that a woman’s natural body is wrong, and it is ok to recognise that, even if it makes you a bit uncomfortable. it should make you uncomfortable. but it’s not the “crazy angry feminists” trying to make you feel like a bad person, they’re simply asking you to realise that your choices are deeply influenced by the world we live in.
at the end of the day, no one can tell anyone what they should or shouldn’t do to their body. so shave your legs, get that plastic surgery, spend 30 minutes doing your makeup so you can feel “presentable” enough to leave the house. just please please think critically about why you feel you NEED to do these things to feel good about yourself.

The crew crying as they become the furthest people from earth, the naming of the Integrity crater and that bright spot Carroll after Reid's wife...
I love humanity, I love how we go to the moon and we name that bright spot after someone loved. We name that crater after the little craft that carried them so far.
Something about us being so small, barely making a dent in the universe, but still going with love.
