Polar Lights 1/1000 scale USS Voyager - legs down

It risked the model looking a bit sloppy, but at least I knew it was somewhat accurate. What would you do on your model? Recreate the detail from the original that was expected to never be seen in detail? Or spend the time to apply colours as realistic and careful as possible?

Masking tape misery on the Battlestar Pegasus. It wasn't a bad technique but extremely tedious. I ended up using a stencil to spray on the rest of the panels, so while not as precise, I covered the entire ship in a fraction of the time it took to mask the engines.
