Revell 1970-71 Model Kit Catalog.
Revell Republic Venator - one of my earliest builds, and among my favourites!
In 1994, model kit maker Revell released a M*A*S*H model of the Swamp that included figures of Hawkeye, Margaret, and Radar. In this week’s post, see a press release announcing the release of this model kit!
The press release this month is a little different in that it is not from Fox or CBS. It also isn’t from the 1970s or 1980s. This press rele
Alright, so, I got 3 model kits from an auction. After looking at them and checking the contents, I realize one of them has a trademark from 1998. Which is... well, not that uncommon in the second-hand market. An Airfix kit, 1:44 scale plane.
But then there's this Revell kit, and looking around I see it first came out in 1988 - and the thing that first struck me was how damned yellowed the paper was.
And I see in the contest mentioning safety laws that it meets anno 1989. I think this kit is almost as old as I am.

Model Airplane Monday: Mid Year Review.
2025 has definitely been a year of change for me. From health issues, losing my senior kitty, adopting two new little ones, new romance, and pretty serious health issues, I've managed to complete 2, yes 2, model kits so far this year.
The first I actually finished back in February before things started going crazy. It's a vintage Hasegawa P-51 D, early version without the tail fillet. It's mostly out of box, I did use the nose checkers from a Tamiya Mustang because the kit decals were old and brittle. Cool little kit, I mostly just wanted that variant.
The second kit I've been stringing along for the past 4 months. It's the old Revell/ Monogram Miss America kit. I built this one, idk, 30 years ago? This year I wanted to rebuild the two Mustangs that I had been missing from my collection from when I was younger. Miss America was one of those two. I hadn't built this Monogram Mustang since the 90's, and, well, it's ok. I hate the way the canopy glass goes on. This kit also had me trimming the gun ports and hard points off, and filling and sealing and sanding. The wings split during painting which let some colors bleed, but I'm kind of over this one. Pretty livery, I was trying to have it done in time for the fourth.
Next up will be my other long lost Mustang, Detroit Miss. I'm using a Tamiya kit though, no more punishment with these vintage Revell and Hasegawa.
