Grace and Rocky are living in like this whimsical space adventure. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Eva Stratt just ordered her fifth assassination this week trying to stop WW3. The other day she replaced Jeff Bezos with a homonculus clone grown in a lab so she can repurpose Amazon into a humanitarian aid distribution network. She had a team of lawyers trick a demon into extending her lifespan by 30 years just so she can live to see through Project Hail Mary.

I am so obsessed with concept of a sequel that’s Ryland and Rocky having a space sitcom while Stratt remains on earth in a gritty political drama fighting for her life to hold the world together until the Beatles come back

It jumps back and forth between the two stories the same way the PHM movie switches between the present and the flashbacks

Every episode is like:

A Plot: It’s Grace’s first day teaching in an Eridian classroom! Will the students respond well to his human teaching style?

B plot: Stratt has to firebomb the rainforest to release more CO2 and also survived six assassination attempts today.

i was just reading stuff about how phm is one of the few movies without a big romance plot or subplot, and thinking off of this, phm really represents how strong and true platonic love can be. grace ended up caring so, so much for the strongest friend he’s ever made in his life that he sacrificed his one, if not only, chance to go back home just to save him. romance never did work out for grace, as he says, but at the end of the movie he finally understands yao’s statement; “you just have to find someone to be brave for.” he learns the true strength of platonic relationships, and how groundbreaking it can really be to have someone you know and that you love and that you can count on for anything. he let rocky past the walls he’s put up in relationships all his life, and it turned out to be the greatest decision he’s ever made.

In Project Hail Mary (the book) there’s a bit where Stratt is being sued for pirating literally everything ever

And I’ve seen lots of posts about how she pulls out the “I can do what I want” paper, but I wanted to highlight some other things about the scene that I found absolutely hilarious:

She’s actively working on something else on her tablet as the trial is beginning.

She doesn’t have a lawyer or anything. It’s just her alone at the defense table

She immediately and continuously requests to end the trial so she can leave (and interrupts both the Plaintiff and the Judge to do so)

After being denied a few times, she just gets up and leaves anyway. When they try to stop her she’s just like “I literally have the entire US army under my command, you have no way to make me stay here.”

Grace isn’t even IN this scene. Every other “past” scene so far has been Grace remembering something from his own life, but I think they threw this one in as a Just For Stratt Special™️

I love that Ryland has all of his fun little T-shirts in the movie and the hacky sack/beanbag because it implies that Stratt went “hold on I know he’s gonna be mad as hell when he remembers what’s going on but he’s gonna need these”. I love her so much, woman of all time
