The Shadowhunters content on here is getting out of hand, so to filter some of that out I’ve made lightwoodbanemlm! 

Mainly that blog will get any reblogs of fic, fanart, show meta, rants, things of that nature.

k first of all it was never actually confirmed so there goes ur argument but im gonna continue bc yall need to understand something: alec grew up gay in a very homophobic environment and also with the struggles of being the oldest sibling that meant being not only a perfect soldier but also keeping his familys name in check. he always felt that this was his responsibility so for him to imagine ever going through having feelings for other men and actually acting on them never even passed his mind. he repressed them and because he knew nothing could ever happen he decided to push and put those feelings into a “safe” space. and whats better than his straight adoptive brother turned parabatai?

think about it, alec knew this could never become an actual thing or go anywhere so this was his safest bet. that way he could continue being the epitome of perfect son - soldier while also not having the risk of acting on his sexuality. until magnus of course. he literally told magnus in 2x06 “i always knew i couldnt have what i wanted, until u came along” and that just proves it even more.

but do i think alec mightve had some sort of crush on jace? yeah sure but thats completely normal in alecs situation. but do i think he was ever actually in love with jace? hell no.

I’m only dignifying this tomfoolery in its truest form with a response because of Magnus who does not deserve to be degraded like this.

Alec did not choose Magnus because Jace is in love with Clary. Magnus Bane is not a second choice and he never will be, and for you to say that Alec is with Magnus because Jace is not available or because it’s of the most convenience is not only ignorant but also, to quote, “speaks a lot about u as a person and ur morals.”  

Also he still is ????

I mean come on

“My brother is still missing.”

“I need to find my brother.”

Also, why “wouldn’t Alec be that insensitive”? He’s a shadowhunter, he’s a Lightwood. Like @magnuspendragons33 said:

Jace has been constantly shown to be low key racist towards the downworlders, Max has showed the same racist attitudes at the party (which again, is yet another demonstration that racism is taught), even Izzy, the most respective towards the downworlders in the family, called a werewolf “a doggie” in 2x03. I know that most of the fandom considers that scene to be OOC, but I actually think it to be quite realistic. 

All of them have been taught by the society they live in, by their parents, to treat downworlders as lower beings, they have been fed racist stereotypes from the moment of their birth – it’s not something you can magically shake off one moment. So, why would Alec be different from the rest of them? Because he’s fandom’s fave and fandom imagines him to be “pure cinnamon roll”?
