I Understood That Reference

I just watched the newest Doctor Who episode. Jodie’s first. It’s always great seeing the Doctor, going through the last stages of their regeneration. Still wearing the previous one’s clothes. Figuring out who they are. And me, sitting on this side of the screen, trying to also figure out if the Doctor is still My Doctor. 

And Thirteen, you know who she most reminds me of? Nine. Mostly watching her speak I could hear Nine speaking, and watching her smile I could see Nine smiling. Getting excited.

Next regeneration I thought of was Eleven. Just as goofy. When I didn’t hear and see Nine, I could mostly hear and see Eleven. 

The whole regeneration process made me think of Ten. I just kept thinking, give her a big cup of tea, will ya? And she was trying to figure stuff out, just like Ten.

And then there’s the contrast to Twelve. Event though at times she was figuring out what she meant, she came out more caring than Twelve. Twelve had to reminded to say sorry, Thirteen didn’t. Also long-legged, grey Scotsman, versus a more petite lady. So different. But Twelve’s age could be seen in her expression at times. 

And even then, she is herself. Thirteen. She builds stuff. And it’s cool. But most importantly.  (Even though it needs getting used to calling the Doctor a she and her) She is The Doctor. She is My Doctor. And I’m very much looking forward to her run. So, welcome Jodie.  And welcome back, Doctor!

Who’s behind the camera? Oh it’s Alex.Thought it was someone new. But aww, Emma and Alex. 

Cute office space

Alex’s uncomfortable laugh is so cute. I missed that.

“It’s not just about Emma anymore.” - “I hate it.”

ANNE ELLIOT! So cool!

Oh it’s a home office - I wonder if Emma and Alex live there? Together maybe?

Emma, did you learn anything at all the last time?

Imaginary real man? A mystery, yay. I wonder who it could be? Makeover? Throwing a little Pygmalion in there?

OOOOOH MYYYY GOOOOOD! IT’S @maxwellglick!!!!!! I mean Mr Collins. I was not expecting that. Not at all. BUT IT’S MAXWELL GLICK! (And now I need to go watch the entire LBD. Again.) But so amazing. And oh my, Mr Collins and Emma? This might get very interesting.  (If Mr Collins left his firm, I wonder how Charlotte is doing? I need to know more!!!!!)

And it’s so weird without the angles and especially without Castiel. Though we all know how good at foreshadowing the show is.

And then you get to s2ep15 and realize/remember that we had Gabriel way before we knew angels. We just knew him as something different; the trikster, Loki. Bring him back, please?

But the thing you gotta admire about the show the most, is all the different ways they use storytelling, and Jensen and Jared’s abilities as actors to adjust to that. And even though I’m slightly nervous about watching the whole show again (since I already know all the pain the characters are gonna endure and all the great characters we’re gonna lose)

 I’m also really excited. Because watching it reminds me how great the show is and how well it was put together from the start.
