It's always funny when I hear down the grapevine why "people" hate my AU because I'm always struck by how I never hear any of these criticisms directly so while they're out there complaining I'm just chugging along blissfully unaware.

Sorry my AU isn't on ao3 so I can't tag it #No Chloe Redemption, but that's why I've said publicly that it wouldn't be since the conception phase, that's why I say it in my FAQ, that's why I say it EVERY TIME it comes up again in my inbox, because if you want a Chloe Redemption? This isn't the place for you.

Looks like PunchLord gave the idea for a tassel tip. I went through multiple attempts for the designs.

And I guess when I went for white hair tips, it made sense to make the tail tip white as well.

It’s disastrous but Marinette has the best writing in the show and she is fairly fleshed out outside of her crush even though said crush is constantly shoved down our throats

Gabriel could’ve had a connection with Marinette through fashion that would’ve made the eventual reveal/his defeat hold more weight but noooo. He’s supposedly her idol but there’s no relationship to connect them.

Her being his protégé could’ve also made his desire to akumatize her in “Ladybug” or “Chat Blanc” make more sense, cause as it stands we have no clear reason on why he thinks she would be a particularly powerful akuma.

Audrey could’ve been in the same boat, having Marinette as a fashion protégé. She could’ve shared a connection through designing and had the drama of Audrey continually favoring Marinette over either of her daughters but not in this show apparently.

Or since Gabe’s eventually gonna (hopefully) be in a prison cell or 6-feet-under by the end of the show, Audrey could still have been Marinette’s big connection to the fashion world into adulthood, but she (maybe?) threw that away to reconnect Chloé with her mother.

Su-Han is maybe the biggest disappointment of these 3. Marinette could’ve had a good mentor figure in him after Fu’s departure. Someone who knows more about the Miraculous and the Order of the Guardians than Fu did. Especially since, as you said, the rest of the Guardians from the temple don’t wanna step in to support her.

But he’s barely been used since his debut episode, and he spent most of his time in “Ephemeral” chewing out Marinette due to Chat not being present during a fight.

Predictable writing does not automatically mean bad writing.

Just because a movie/show/book/ etc. goes the way you expect, doesnt make it bad.

It literally looks like a Marinette/Ladybug salt fic set to animation. Ladybug being salty at Chat (bonus if it’s for actual reasons that refuse to be addressed; “she might have a point but sHe’S sO mEaN”), Adrien quitting because he’s sAd and uNdErApPrEciAteD, and a “new cat” swooping in that will somehow prove that Chat is objectively the best partner ever.

Also, I’ll keep most thoughts until the actual episode comes out, but--

- Really? Paris who shipped LadyNoir so hard that they were reading the Oblivio article during an akuma battle is now putting Chat’s worth into question? I don’t buy it. Either this is just contrived writing (the most likely option; I mean, we saw “Prime Queen”), the resolution for Paris realizing that the kiss wasn’t what they thought happened off-screen (shocker), or Shadow Moth’s sentimonster trying to create a divide between Ladybug and Chat. Heck, that would honestly be more interesting: Shadow Moth having a Volpina sentimonster to make an illusion of Ladybug for this interview (the interviewer has to be a sentimonster to fool the rest of their crew) and Adrien was - yet again - incapable of telling a real Ladybug from a fake one.

- If Ladybug picks Adrien for the cat because “he’s not in love with me,” that’s so damn sad. (but they’ll of course make it look hypocritical because “well YOU picked someone you were in love with when the idea was to pick a cat who wasn’t in love with YOU,” while also ignoring that Ladybug is ten times as professional as Chat even with her mistakes)

- lol, what if this episode doesn’t even talk about how “””great””” Chat is and it’s Ladybug choosing Adrien so she can “learn just HOW HARD IT IS to stay professional when you have someone you lOvE as a partner”? (Hot take, maybe having romance involved in heroism is either a bad idea altogether, it’s these crushes specifically that are a problem, or the solution is to make sure there are two people who aren’t in love with each other/incompatible orientation-wise?)

- What’s even the time frame for this stuff happening? A day? A week? “It’s been built up over multiple episodes!!!” Ah, yes, I’m so glad that Chat literally doesn’t have all information on things that are none of his damn business and is choosing to draw his own conclusions because Ladybug’s bitter at him. I’ll try to remember that every time I think about the times where Chat didn’t apologize for being wrong or fell for a fake Ladybug.

- Us over here, watching Marinette be stressed out, forced to break up with her boyfriend because of her hero duties, overwhelmed by the kwami in her room (giving her literally no sense privacy), and constantly having to prove herself to Su-Han whenever he pops up, then seeing that it’s Chat who gets the, “Guess I’ll just quit. :(” episode. Really? (The fact that it’s Chat and not Ladybug proves how dedicated she is to job and how dedicated Chat is to his own personal comfort. Remember how Marinette didn’t want to be Ladybug in “Origins” and Tikki insisted that Marinette had been chosen and was the only one who could do the job? And then Alya was taken out of the equation so Marinette was forced to take up the ladybug again even if she still didn’t want to? Yeah, hm...).

- me watching Adrien quit from the top of what is seemingly a rooftop ala “Syren”: okay but how are you going to get down after this?

Marigold’s in a bit of a mood, Scarlet Lady, maybe don’t provoke her.

I actually wrote this article for a Facebook group during the summer, but i had completely forgotten about it until I read the very in-depth analysis of Kagami's role in the series written by @geekgirles . There, she mentioned the bit in Ikari Gozen that had got me started on this research, so I thought why not? let's 'delight' you with this indepth analysis of the four characters of Marinette, Adrien, Luka and Kagami based on what we know of their zodiac signs in the Chinese horoscope. There are a couple of things that may surprise you.

First of all, let's put a lovely wee "keep reading" tag, so it doesn't clog your board, because it's a little long (ah, the understatement!)

They are the token parents that do whatever the writers need, which largely involve being blank slates that are "supprotive", that will put Marinette down, and give unconditional support and love for Adrien, even over their own kid.

Like, thanks Weredad for showing us where priority lies as they believe their daughter is running up to her room in tears, neither go up to check on her, and Sabine takes time to reassure Chat and validate his feelings.

And honestly, you have Marinette not even turning to them for help ever, and she's set up to be pretty independent herself. I wonder if they should've just stuck with that earliest concept for Marinette that they passed onto Fei, where her parents were gone/dead, implied strongly to be murdered for unknown means.

Like, they're pointless background characters anyway and her family at the core is barely in her life, and hey, that could've been a tie in for Marinette's plot if the Agrestes had a role in her parents' demise, intentional or accidental.

Just imagine that the Butterfly belonged to one of her parents. And the Agrestes/Gabrbiel needed it revive Emilie and have his perfect world and things went down south. Unaware of their end, he takes a few years to build his lair, to be precautious and hidden just in case he was being hunted.

And little Marinette was finally taken home by one of the school staff, finding it weird that neither parent ever showed up to pick her up. And they both came across the scene.

Few years later, Marinette is largely the same. Independent, kind, helpful, and optimistic. You wouldn't know that she had such a tragedy in her life a few years ago, that Bourgeois' system of child care largely leaves her on her own with the guardian very absent in her life. Gabriel arises, Nooroo wonders about the girl that was the daughter of his previous owner, wonders if she'll fall victim to his abuser's influence. Marinette catches the attention of Fu.

There's her tie in to the plot. Her connection to Gabriel.

There's her drama with Adrien as canon wise and both having a unique test on their partnership. Adrien with family and Marinette with the past and what was done.

And honestly, I wouldn't trust it with these writers, but I think my ideal on Marinette realizing the past and what happened, I want righteous anger, but I also want something along the lines of what Kung Fu Panda 2 did with Po's response to learning his past.

Like, ok, foxes are known to be risk takers (due to overconfidence), liars, tricksters, manipulators; just over all, being a big wildcard, and Trixx can roll with this. 

But, that isn’t the sum of what makes a Fox or Trixx, there are two other big aspects that we’ve seen in the few times we’ve seen Trixx: loyalty and a sense of moral rightness. Trixx will be chaotic about it, but at the core, they’ll do what they can to help and stand for the greater good. 

Sapotis was the biggest example of this. You have Trixx sounding all for Alya just being a full time hero because that’s what she wants. But by Trixx’s wording, they were able to remind Alya that she was considered trustworthy. To be trustworthy is to not take advantage of that trust. 

And what does Alya do in Rocketear? 

Yep. 

I really wonder what’s Trixx’s response to this. Is Trixx ready to grab popcorn and watch the chaos unfold? Or is Trixx bothered as Alya unnecessarily outed herself, taking advantage of trust that was given and lying to the Guardian’s face directly. A lie that is going to do far more harm than good as Rena Furtive is now compromised with someone knowing of her existence (and to someone we now know can’t keep a secret, which Alya doesn’t know that Adrien now knows that she’s Rena). 

What’s worse is that we’ll never see it. Kwamis aren’t characters that these writers care enough about to delve into. Tikki isn’t a character but a mouthpiece for the writers. Trixx was compelling in Sapotis, setting them up as observant and eloquent and later just becomes bratty and child-like. Kwamis all become mentally children and work off a mob mentality. And Chat Blanc, we don’t see Tikki or Plagg’s responses to what goes down in that ep. Nothing on Plagg about Adrien taking advantage of this knowledge to finally date his partner while keeping it a secret that he’s Chat. Nothing on Tikki about the full reveal and them dating. Tikki who is the most adamant about the importance of secrecy. 

To be back on track, I really want to know Trixx’s response to Alya revealing herself without Marinette’s knowledge. But chances are incredibly good that we’re not going to know. Kwamis aren’t characters to take seriously and Alya at the core doesn’t face consequences for her actions. 

Only one will and that makes this all incredibly frustrating. 

Well at least you got out of that explanation Tikki.
