early 2000s thick mj…that’s it send tweet
Why am I being told that the non-black fans on here are saying they want the black fans to be lynched?? If you are one of the people saying this Michael would hate you. Let me make this very clear, you are not welcome in this fanbase if you’re racist to Michaels ORIGINAL fans. And on top of you guys threatening to lynch us, you’re calling us black b*tches. Michael would absolutely not tolerate you guys disrespecting the black women of his community. The white and nonblack poc fans who constantly disrespect us and are incredibly racist to us would disgust Michael. The concept of being a Michael Jackson fan and being violently racist towards black people makes no sense, you guys are literal kkk members…
BROTHER WHATTTT this is fucking insane. I also do NOT support this behavior in any way!! the audacity to treat people of color like this when also supporting AN ARTIST WHO IS ALSO A POC is WILD!
Next up someone is going to claim that the Narnia series isn't kids books.
Kids books is probably not the best way to word it, you can enjoy them at every age, including your childhood, as you get older you may find new truths in them, but they're still good for any age.
Behind the Veil
Synopsis: To protect herself from the invasive glare of 1990s stardom, singer-songwriter creates Nova—an enigmatic, veil-wearing soul artist whose identity is the music industry's best-kept secret. Even her superstar boyfriend, Michael Jackson, has no idea that Nova and his grounded, quiet girlfriend living across town are the exact same person.
———————————————————————-
The drive back to your house in the Los Angeles hills was always the hardest part of the routine.
In the trunk of your sedan sat the heavy velvet gown, the wide-brimmed hat, and the thick, sheer lace veil that hid your face from the world. In the driver's seat, you were just you—clad in a soft, oversized sweater, dark jeans, and plain white sneakers. No heavy makeup. No enigmatic posture. Just a young woman trying to protect her sanity in an industry designed to swallow artists whole.
When you created Nova, it was never meant to be a gimmick. It was a shield. You loved writing songs, loved the warmth of the recording booth, and loved watching your music climb the charts. But you loathed the invasive, suffocating circus of 1990s celebrity culture. You wanted a normal life. You wanted to walk down the street without photographers jumping out of bushes.
Most importantly, you wanted a real relationship with Michael.
Because you both valued your independence and wanted to build a genuine foundation away from the blinding spotlight of his stardom, you kept separate homes. You had your quiet house in the hills; he had his sprawling estate. When he visited you, there were no bodyguards at the front door, no fans pressed against the gates, and no flashbulbs through the curtains. It was your sanctuary.
You pulled into your private driveway, killed the engine, and let out a long, slow breath. The lingering adrenaline of the afternoon was still humming through your veins.
An hour ago, you had been sitting in a soundproof radio booth in downtown Los Angeles, putting on the smooth, velvety cadence you reserved exclusively for Nova. The host had leaned across the table, grinning like he had just won the lottery.
"Nova, the entire industry is trying to figure out who you are, but I want to know who you're listening to. Who's the dream collaboration?"
You had smiled beneath the mesh of your hat, a warm spark of playfulness hitting your chest. "Oh, Michael Jackson. Without a doubt."
"The King of Pop himself?" the host had laughed.
"Honestly? He’s my absolute celebrity crush," you had confessed, letting out a soft, genuine giggle into the silver microphone. "If I ever met him in person, I’d probably faint right on the spot."
It had been a harmless, private joke between you and the universe—a sweet, subtle nod to the man you loved, disguised as the fangirling of a mysterious pop star.
Unlocking your front door, the warm scent of vanilla candles greeted you. The house was quiet, save for the faint hum of the air conditioner and soft jazz playing from the stereo in the corner.
You walked into the living room, kicking off your sneakers by the entryway, expecting to find Michael asleep on the couch after his long morning at Westlake Recording Studios.
Instead, he was sitting upright against the plush cushions, a music magazine resting casually on his lap. But it wasn't his posture that caught your attention—it was his face.
A quiet, almost giddy smile was tugging at the corners of his lips. His dark eyes were bright, dancing with an unusual, suppressed excitement, looking entirely too satisfied with himself.
A sudden, strange knot tightened in your stomach.
"Hey," you murmured softly, leaning against the doorframe, crossing your arms over your sweater. "You're still awake."
Michael blinked, looking up as if pulled out of a deep trance. The bright, giddy expression melted into a soft, affectionate grin, though the lingering flush in his cheeks didn't disappear.
"Hey, Applehead," he rasped out, his voice low and warm. He set the magazine on the coffee table. "I thought you were going to be at your studio meeting longer."
"It wrapped up early," you lied smoothly, walking over toward the sofa. You narrowed your eyes slightly, watching the way he rubbed the back of his neck—a nervous habit you knew all too well. "What's got you looking so giddy?"
Michael let out a quiet, breathless laugh, looking down at his lap for a fraction of a second before meeting your gaze again. "Giddy? What do you mean? I'm not giddy."
"Michael, your whole face is glowing," you pressed, a small, tentative smile on your lips, though a prickle of suspicion began to itch at the back of your brain. "Did the studio session go that well today? Did you fix that bridge arrangement?"
"Oh... yeah, the session was great," he said quickly. A little too quickly. "Just... good music today. Lots of inspiration."
He patted the space beside him on the sofa, inviting you over. But as you walked toward him, the suspicion in your chest sharpened into something cold and lingering.
Normally, Michael was obsessed with industry chatter. Whenever Nova's music played on the radio, or whenever her mysterious image was brought up in a music magazine, he talked your ear off about it. He would analyze her vocal production for hours, marveling at how a total stranger could craft such intricate harmonies. He knew her interview was scheduled to air live at four o'clock today—you had casually mentioned it to him days ago, curious to see what he thought of "Nova's" public persona.
Yet, he hadn't said a single word about it. He hadn't asked if you listened to it. He was sitting there, practically vibrating with a secret, blushing energy, completely tight-lipped about the very radio broadcast that had just set the music world on fire.
Why isn't he talking about her? you thought, your heart taking a heavy, uneven beat. Did he hear it?
"You look tired," Michael murmured softly, breaking your train of thought as he reached out, his long, delicate fingers wrapping gently around your wrist.
The warmth of his touch instantly sent a wave of familiar comfort through you, melting away the sharp edges of your sudden anxiety. You looked down at his soft features—his gentle dark eyes, the curls framing his face, the innocent curve of his mouth.
You're overthinking it, you told yourself sternly. He's just tired. He has a million things on his mind.
"I am tired," you whispered, kicking your feet up onto the sofa and sinking into his side.
Michael immediately wrapped a heavy arm around your shoulders, pulling you close against his chest. He rested his chin on the top of your head, letting out a long, contented sigh as he stroked your hair.
"I miss having you around more," he murmured into your hair, his lips brushing against your crown. "I wish we didn't have to keep rushing back and forth between houses."
"I know," you replied softly, burying your face into the crook of his neck, inhaling the familiar, intoxicating scent of his cologne. "Soon, honey. We're building something real. It takes time."
"Yeah," he whispered. "Something real."
You closed your eyes, letting the steady beat of his heart soothe you. He tightened his grip around you, kissing your temple, completely content.
And as you lay there in his arms—the secret superstar he had listened to an hour ago on the radio, resting quietly in his chest—you tried to shake the lingering, icy feeling that he had the interview on his mind. ‘Maybe he just didn’t watch it yet’ You thought to yourself.
The seed of doubt, once planted, refused to stop growing.
For two days after the radio broadcast, you waited. Every time Michael came over to your house, or every time you spoke on your regular home phone, you gave him endless openings to bring up the interview. You even casually flipped through a music trade magazine while sitting across from him at his kitchen island, humming one of Nova's tracks under your breath.
He didn't say a word.
He didn't mention the host asking Nova about her dream collaboration. He didn't chuckle about a mysterious hitmaker calling him her "celebrity crush." He stayed completely quiet, his dark eyes evasive whenever the topic drifted anywhere near the radio charts.
The silence spoke louder than a confession ever could. He had heard it. And for some reason, he was actively keeping it from you.
Sitting in your home studio late on a Thursday evening, staring at a blank sheet of music, a dark, terrifying impulse took root in your mind. You wanted—no, you needed—to know how far his silence went. Was he just embarrassed? Or was he truly intrigued by the shadow woman behind the veil?
I'll test him, you thought, your fingers trembling as you gripped your pen. If he has an easy way to reach her, he'll tell me. He'll come to me and laugh about it. He loves me.
The next morning, using an elegant, stylized penmanship that was completely different from your normal handwriting, you penned a personal note on Nova's custom heavy stationery. You had your discreet business manager leave it directly on the soundboard console at Westlake Recording Studios while Michael was out taking a break.
The note was smooth, bold, and unapologetically suggestive:
Michael—
I meant every word I said on the radio. I can’t stop thinking about what our voices would sound like together... or what a real collaboration between us could become. If you’re curious to talk more, here is my private landline. I’m waiting for your call.
— N.
Below it was the unlisted number to the secondary, private telephone line installed in the spare room of your house—a line Michael didn't even know existed.
That night, you sat on the floor of your dark spare room, the beige landline telephone resting on the carpet in front of you like a coiled snake.
You had told Michael earlier in the day that you were going to bed early with a headache, giving him full freedom for the evening. Now, the quiet house felt suffocating. The air was heavy with the scent of old paper and dust. You pulled your knees to your chest, your chin resting on your arms, staring at the little glow of the phone's keypad in the shadows.
Don't do it, Michael, you begged silently into the dark, tears burning hot behind your eyelids. Just throw the note away. Call my regular house line. Tell me about the weird memo you found on your mixing board. Laugh about it with me. Please.
Ten minutes passed in excruciating silence. Then twenty.
Your heart began to slow down, a faint spark of relief blooming in your chest. You let out a breath, wiping at your eyes with the back of your sleeve. He threw it away. Of course he did. He loves you—
RING.
The sharp, high-pitched chime of the landline cut through the silence like a jagged blade.
Your breath caught in your throat, completely trapped. Your entire body went ice cold, shock paralyzing you where you sat.
RING.
A single tear spilled over your eyelash, trailing slowly down your cheek. The sound of the telephone ringing wasn't just a noise; it was the sound of your world cracking down the middle. He hadn't brought up the interview. He hadn't mentioned the bold, flirtatious note. He had kept it all a secret—and now, alone in his room at two in the morning, he was dialing the number of a mysterious pop star who had just invited him into her world.
With trembling hands, you reached out and lifted the heavy white receiver, pressing it slowly to your ear.
You forced a deep breath into your lungs, swallowing the lump in your throat, and leaned into the persona. You let your voice drop into that smooth, velvety, slightly gravelly tone you reserved strictly for Nova.
"Hello?" you whispered softly into the mouthpiece.
Through the faint static of the landline, you heard a sharp, nervous intake of breath from the other end.
"Nova?"
Michael’s voice filtered through the receiver—low, hushed, and guarded, dropped into that intimate register he usually reserved for quiet moments in the dark.
Sitting on the floor of your own house, miles away from him, your heart shattered into a thousand jagged pieces. The pain was physical, a crushing weight sinking straight into your ribs. He was really on the line. He was really calling a woman he believed was a complete stranger.
"It's... it's Michael," he murmured nervously over the wire. You could hear the faint, rhythmic sound of him twisting the phone cord around his fingers. "I... I got your note. I hope I'm not calling too late."
You closed your eyes tightly, a quiet sob threatening to break through your chest, but you squeezed the receiver until your knuckles turned white, forcing Nova's cool, alluring confidence back into your lungs.
"Michael," you said softly through the phone, your voice smooth as silk over the static. "I was wondering if you’d ever use that number."
On the other end of the line, miles away in his bedroom, Michael let out a soft, breathless laugh—flustered, flattered, and completely hooked—unaware that the heart breaking on the other end of the wire belonged to the girl he had kissed goodbye earlier that day.
The morning after that fateful first ring, a tiny, desperate spark of hope ignited in your chest.
When you woke up, your eyes were raw and swollen from crying on the floor of the spare bedroom. But as the bright California sunlight poured through your blinds, your rational mind scrambled to build a safety net.
It was just music, you reasoned with yourself, clutching a mug of coffee with two hands to stop the trembling. He’s an artist. He’s brilliant, curious, and passionate. He got a note about a potential collaboration from the biggest mystery in pop music, and he called to talk shop. That’s all it was.
For two weeks, that thin thread of hope kept you tethered. Michael came over to your house for dinner, brought you flowers, and held you on the couch just like he always did. Whenever he spoke to Nova late at night on that private line, the conversations stayed strictly professional. They talked about vocal arrangements, mic selection, analog compression, and chord progressions.
He hadn't crossed a physical line. He hadn't said anything untoward. You told yourself that if he was just pursuing a musical dynamic, you could find a way to forgive the secrecy.
He’ll tell me soon, you prayed silently every time you laid your head on his shoulder. He’s just waiting for the right moment to say, "Hey, Applehead, you won't believe who I've been talking music with."
But the days bled into weeks, and the confession never came.
Instead, the silence around Nova became deliberate. Heavy. Whenever her songs came on the radio in his car, Michael would quietly change the station or turn the volume down, his jaw tight, his dark eyes avoiding yours.
The fragile glimmer of hope in your chest began to flicker, suffocated by the growing wall of deceit. He wasn't just keeping a business call quiet; he was actively hiding a secret life.
By mid-July, the heat in Los Angeles was oppressive. Michael was back at his own estate, deep in rehearsals for an upcoming award show, while you remained at your house in the hills.
At ten o'clock on a humid Tuesday night, your regular house phone rang. You picked up the kitchen extension, leaning against the counter.
"Hello?" you said softly.
"Hey, Applehead," Michael’s voice came through the receiver. He sounded raspy, his tone soft and lingering.
"Hey, honey," you replied, smiling softly as a gentle warmth washed over you. "How were rehearsals today?"
"Exhausting," he sighed, the faint sound of him settling into his bed sheets rustling through the receiver. "We ran the dance sequence four times. My knees are aching, and my head is spinning... I'm just completely wiped out, sweetie."
"Oh, Michael," you murmured softly. "You work too hard. Make sure you get some real sleep tonight, okay?"
"I am," he said quietly, letting out a heavy, tired yawn into the mouthpiece. "In fact... I think I'm just going to turn off all the lights and go straight to sleep right now. I don't think I can even keep my eyes open."
"Alright, sweetheart. Sleep well."
"I love you, Applehead."
"I love you too, Michael. Talk to you tomorrow morning."
Click.
The line went dead.
Sensing nothing out of the ordinary, you set the kitchen receiver back into its cradle with a fond smile. You stretched, turning off the bright overhead lights in the kitchen, and wandered down the quiet hallway toward your bathroom. You went through your usual nighttime routine—washing your face with warm water, brushing your teeth, and applying a sweet-smelling lavender moisturizer.
Tying your hair back, you walked into your bedroom, pulled back the crisp white sheets, and climbed into bed, ready to settle in for a peaceful night.
Then, breaking the quiet of the house, a distant chime sounded from down the hall.
RING.
You froze under the covers. The sound wasn't coming from your bedside table. It was coming from the spare bedroom at the end of the corridor—the secondary landline.
A cold, heavy stone plummeted into the pit of your stomach. Your breath hitched, trapped in your chest as your entire body went stiff.
RING.
Slowly, like walking through a nightmare, you pulled back the blankets and stood up. You walked down the dark hallway to the spare bedroom, not bothering to turn on the lights. You sat down on the cold floor, pulled your knees to your chest, and stared at the beige secondary landline phone resting in the shadows.
A single tear spilled over your lashes, tracking a hot path down your cheek. The tiny glimmer of hope you had been desperately clinging to didn't just fade—it vanished completely, replaced by a cold, hollow ache.
He lied to me, you thought, your chest heaving with a silent, crushing sob. He hung up on me just to call her.
With shaking hands, you lifted the heavy white receiver, pressing it to your ear. You swallowed the heartbreak, drew a long, ragged breath, and forced Nova's smooth, intoxicating confidence back into your lungs.
"Hello, Michael," you purred softly into the mouthpiece, letting your tone drop into that slow, velvety cadence.
Through the static, you heard the rustle of his sheets as he sat up in bed—sounding suddenly wide awake, his voice dropping into that breathless, hushed register he reserved only for the dark.
"Hey," Michael murmured, his tone thick with a guarded, electric excitement. "I know it's late... I just missed your voice."
You closed your eyes, a bitter heat rising behind your ribs. Nova took over completely, a low, quiet hum escaping your throat. "You missed my voice, or were you just lying awake thinking about me?"
On the other end, Michael let out a shuddering breath, the faint friction of cotton sheets against skin coming through the static. "Both," he rasped, his cadence dropping lower, thicker, and dangerously close to the microphone. "I’m lying here in the dark... and every time I close my eyes, I just keep imagining what it would feel like if you were actually in this room."
"Tell me," Nova whispered, leaning back against the wall, her tone dropping into a slow, intoxicating purr. "Tell me what you're doing right now, Michael."
He let out a soft, sharp intake of air, his knuckles audibly tightening around the heavy receiver. "I'm under the covers," he whispered, his voice trembling with a mixture of raw, forbidden heat and overwhelming guilt. "Thinking about your voice... thinking about how close I want to be to you."
"You like listening to me, don't you?" you purred back, hearing his shallow, ragged breathing echo over the line as the conversation slid fast and heavy into territory no taken man should ever cross. "You're breathless..."
"I am," Michael confessed, a strained, desperate murmur spilling into your ear as he shivered in his dark bedroom. "I can't... I can't stop, Nova..."
As his hushed, breathless words continued to fill the quiet room—exchanging heavy, forbidden whispers through the static of the landline—you sat alone in the dark, cold corner of the floor. You held the plastic receiver tightly to your ear, forcing your voice to stay silky, smooth, and alluring, while silent, hot tears streamed endlessly down your face.
The night of the MTV Video Music Awards arrived in late August.
In your dressing room, you stood in front of the vanity, staring at your reflection. The transformation was complete: a sweeping gown of dark midnight silk, a broad-brimmed black hat, and the heavy, intricate lace veil that obscured every feature of your face. You were no longer the quiet woman who wept on her bedroom floor. Tonight, you were only Nova.
Michael had stopped by your house to kiss you goodbye before he left for the VMAs. He had held your face in his hands, soft and tender, whispering how much he loved you and how he wished you didn’t have to work so you could sit beside him at the VMAs. You had smiled, kissed him passionately, and told him to have a wonderful night.
He had no idea you were leaving for the venue five minutes behind him.
Radio City Music Hall was packed, the energy inside electric and wild. Sitting in the front row in his sharp jacket and dark fedora, Michael cheered for the early awards, completely unaware of the storm brewing behind the heavy velvet curtains.
Then, the stage lights plunged into total darkness.
A single, brilliant blue spotlight cut through the shadows, illuminating the center of the main stage. There stood Nova.
When the orchestra swelled and your voice echoed through the arena—deep, velvety, and resonant—the crowd erupted. But in the front row, Michael froze. His breath hitched in his chest, his dark eyes wide and fixed on the stage. He leaned forward, hands gripping the arms of his seat, entirely spellbound. Every run, every effortless belt, every subtle sway of your silk gown held him in a hypnotic grip. He was utterly, helplessly in awe.
From behind the lace veil, you caught his gaze in the front row. You sang straight to him, pouring every ounce of passion, betrayal, and heartbreak into the microphone, leaving the entire arena—and Michael—completely breathless by the final note.
An hour after the show ended, you were sitting on the edge of the plush king-sized bed in your hotel suite.
You had shed the velvet dress and hat, wearing only a sleek black silk robe. Your dark hair fell loose over your shoulders. Beside you on the nightstand, the heavy beige hotel telephone sat waiting.
You lifted the receiver and dialed the direct extension for his top-floor suite.
Ring... ring...
"Nova?" Michael picked up on the second ring, his voice quiet, raspy, and immediately breathless. "Your performance... God, Nova, you were unbelievable tonight. I was right there in the front row. I couldn't take my eyes off you."
"I know you were watching," you said softly into the mouthpiece, letting Nova's cool, magnetic cadence drift through the line. "I could feel you."
Michael let out a shaky, quiet breath over the static. "I've been going crazy thinking about you all night."
"Then stop thinking," Nova purred, leaning back against the headboard, playing her final card. "Room 412, Michael. I'm waiting for you."
The line went dead quiet. You could hear his heart practically hammering through the wire.
"What?" he whispered, his voice trembling.
"Come down to Room 412," you murmured, letting a subtle, dangerous promise lace your tone. "No reporters. No cameras. Just you and me. You'll be the very first person in the world to see who I really am. You'll finally know my real name... and everything else."
On the other end, Michael swallowed hard. The guilt fought fiercely against the sheer, magnetic pull of the mystery he had been chasing for months.
"I'm coming down," he whispered raspy.
Click.
Ten minutes later, a soft, tentative knock sounded at the door of Suite 412.
You stood up from the bed, your heart beating with a cold, precise rhythm. You walked over to the door, stood to the side, and unlatched the lock.
Slowly, the heavy wooden door swung inward.
Michael stepped into the softly lit suite, pulling his coat tight around himself, his fedora pulled low over his forehead. His eyes scanned the room nervously, dark and wide, his throat moving as he swallowed hard.
"Nova?" he breathed into the quiet room, his voice barely a whisper. "I'm here."
Standing with your back turned to him near the window, looking out over the glowing city skyline, you closed your eyes for a brief second to steady your voice.
"I know you are," you said softly.
The voice didn't have the static filter of a telephone wire. It was crisp, clear, and painfully intimate. Michael stopped dead in his tracks, a sudden, cold knot tying itself in his stomach. The tone was familiar—terrifyingly familiar. Then the smell of your perfume hit him.
Slowly, deliberately, you turned around on your heel to face him.
The dim lamplight hit your face. No veil. No lace. No mystery. Just you, standing in your silk robe, tears faintly glittering on your cheeks, your eyes cold and unwavering.
Michael’s heart stopped dead in his chest. All the air was violently ripped from his lungs. His jaw slackened, his dark eyes expanding in total, paralyzing horror as his brain tried to process the impossible image before him. His mouth opened and closed as if he were trying to find the words to say but couldn’t.
The girl he had kissed goodbye at home. The girl he claimed to love. The ghost on the telephone line.
They were all the same person.
You tilted your head slightly, a cold, bitter smirk twisting your lips as you crossed your arms over your chest.
"Hi, honey," you said, your voice dripping with sweet, lethal sarcasm. "Did you miss my voice?"

( ˶°ㅁ°) !! 0.4k, suggestive/nsfw fluff ) husband!michael jackson x fem wife!reader: you're head over heels with michael's new figure <3
you can't help but love how thick michael's gotten. how, when he stretches and his shirt rides up, you can see the smooth expanse of his lower belly, just begging to be rubbed and kissed on. how his thick thighs look when he's seated (and how his already-big hands look resting against them). how the bed dips slightly when he climbs into it, unused to the increased weight. how his strong arms feel whenever they're wrapped around you, firm, grounding, certain— oh, what a man your man has become! thicker than a snicker and tastier than one, too!
"mmm," he hums gently, his thumbs running along the arches of your feet as you rest in bed, watching a movie. michael lets one hand slide up, feeling over the skin of your shin before he crawls closer, pressing his body against your side. as he cuddles you, you become overly aware of the heat of his stomach against your own, his thickness jostling against your frame through thin night-time layers. another content hum slips from his lips, and then he settles, resting one hand along your thigh before closing his eyes.
it's an innocent moment. a familiar one, even, a bout of romantic domesticity. the innocence does nothing, however, to ward off the carnal desires that begin to consume you; what you wouldn't give to have him pounding into you, tonight...
"what's on your mind?" your husband asks sweetly, "your heart's racing. is it me?" a childish smile dances along his lips as his eyes slowly open to search your face.
"it's always you," you reply, though you don't expand any further than that, keeping your gaze on the screen.
rmichael presses a kiss to your shoulder regardless, smiling against your skin. "you're such a nasty woman," he remarks quietly, "i can see it in your eyes."
"you can't see anything, michael."
"baby, i can see everything," he pauses, then adds, smirking, "i can see that you're a pervert, at least."
"don't call me that," you huff, shaking your head.
"don't be mad, honey. i like you this way." michael lets his voice slide lower, the hand along your thigh gliding upwards as he shifts to properly lay beside you. "open your heart to me, baby," he whispers, parting your legs with a firm grip so that his hand can easily reach you. his stomach and chest are a wall against your side, well-built and unmovable. "let me give it to you."
you might still be annoyed, mildly, with his calling you a pervert... but when your husband's mashed against you like that, with his meaty thighs against your own and his long, graceful fingers tracing the heat between your thighs? you're more than happy to let him give it to you all night long.

you took a deep breath, standing somewhat nervously in front of the conference room door. with your sketchbook, notepad, and a variety of colored pens in your work satchel, you were as prepared as you possibly could be for this meeting. your nervousness was to be expected; you’d worked with plenty of high-profile clientele in the past, but this client was on a different planet entirely.
your career in costuming started as a simple passion for design. you participated in countless high school theatre productions, quickly becoming your director’s favorite student. through college, you worked on pieces for your own use while simultaneously slaving away on pieces meant for your classes. in what seemed like no time at all, you had graduated with your master’s degree along with a minor in textile arts.
your first major job came from a familiar place: the theatre. you had been working tirelessly on costumes for a middle school production of hamlet held at your alma mater, where you had resided since graduation. once the curtain fell on the last show, you were finally able to let out the breath you’d been holding the whole time; no costume malfunctions had occurred, other than one child forgetting their headpiece for a scene.
a parent had approached you after the show, heavily praising your work. after some small talk, he asked if you’d ever heard of a little someone named prince. of course you had; he was one of the most popular artists on the planet in the mid 1980s. as it turns out, this dad of one of the students worked as one of prince’s many tour managers, basically offering you a job as his costume designer for the purple rain tour right there and then. of course, you had to accept the offer.
working with the “when doves cry” singer gained your major traction; many within the industry admired your intricate bead work, along with your hand-sewing skills being just as good as a machine. after prince, you moved onto designing costumes for members of duran duran in the late 80s for their strange behavior tour. the early 90s then provided you with more odd jobs around hollywood, being commissioned to make custom one-off pieces for award ceremonies and charity dinners. you’ve worked for dozens, if not hundreds of musicians at this point in your career. but the client you were about to meet was simply intimidating.
you opened the door, taking a few steps inside. you were greeted by the sight of a few men in suits, talking and laughing quietly amongst themselves. then, your eyes landed on him.
he sat at the head of the table, cementing himself as the true boss despite the big suits surrounding him. his curly hair was tied back into a ponytail, with a couple thin pieces excluded, gently brushing his hollowed cheeks. he donned a long sleeved dress shirt, its deep red color complimenting his skin tone. a black watch covered his right wrist, shown off by his sleeves neatly rolled up just above his elbow.
michael was the first to recognize your presence. “everyone, I’d like you to meet our lovely costume designer for the tour. she has worked with countless other musicians, including some of my closest friends. I’m sure her work will be incredible.” polite greetings from the others followed.
you gave an honest smile. “thank you for having me. I’m honored, mr. jackson.”
—————————————————————————
michael, as you would come to learn, was quite the handful.
after the initial meeting, you worked relentlessly on 5 different prototypes for just the opening scene of the show. this spacesuit was the main spectacle of the concerts; michael would come down from the ceiling in a literal space capsule, coming out in a fully chrome plated outfit, complete with a chrome helmet and gold plated pieces that wrapped up to his knees. these models weren’t even human sized, and you were struggling to make the concept come to life.
the second meeting went a little better than you thought it would. michael ended up going with model number 3, as it fit his image for the outfit the best. even so, he was extremely nit-picky, seeing the smallest details when no one else could. at times, you saw his assistants visibly confused, not even able to see the “flaw” he was talking about. but you too were able to see the littlest flaws in the models, something you had in common with him. michael had an eye for detail you’d never seen in any other client. and that made him special.
there would continue to be various meetings. a third, fourth, and yes, fifth, meeting would be arranged just for this one outfit. it was beyond exhausting. but you and michael both knew how important it was to fine tune even the smallest details until they were crystal clear in both his music and appearance. with your costuming experience and michael’s creativity, you two were the perfect fit.
the first fitting came sooner that you thought it would. your life sized prototype was packaged carefully and ready to go, along with your sewing kit and various material scraps. the one thing that wasn’t prepared? you.
michael was nothing but professional to you, always making sure your thoughts and opinions were included in meetings, along with generally being one of the kindest people you’ve ever met. but you saw everything.
the glances that looked directly into your soul.
the gentle touches that lasted slightly too long.
the conversations that ventured way past simple small talk between two coworkers.
you knew something was up. and it all got worse at that first fitting.
—————————————————————————
michael peaked his head out of the dressing room door, requesting one of his team members help him with the zipper on his white leotard. your heart was hammering for more reasons than one. was the outfit going to be comfortable? what if he didn’t like the materials? what if the chrome armor refused to cooperate?
your thoughts continued to spiral until he stepped out of the room.
everything was right in its place. the chrome armor clung perfectly just where they needed to, the gold plates on his legs wrapped tightly around his calves, and the helmet sat just right on his head. his muffled voice spoke from under the mask, “this is amazing. just what I wanted.”he practiced a few moves with the armor on, his body flowing like water as he spun and landed his signature toe stand. it was all perfect.
but one thing stood out to you. embarrassingly so.
his cock.
even despite the armor wrapped around his crotch, his bulge was pressing against the gold pants in a way that somehow made his length stand out even more. a redness creeped across your face and down your neck as you began to think some of the most sinful thoughts you’d ever conjured.
“what do you think? anything out of place you need to fix?”
michael’s voice snapped you out of your head, making you blush even more at the realization there were people around you. your eyes roamed over his body (checking for imperfections, of course) as you attempted to compose yourself. “n-no mr. jackson. it looks wonderful on you.”
—————————————————————————
it looks wonderful on you.
those words buzzed around michael’s brain as he sat in on yet another boring meeting full of budget negotiations and business speak for his upcoming tour. he was truthfully exhausted, just like you were. between the endless meetings, rehearsals that had him spent, and the looming thought of jet lag had michael wanting to crawl into a hole. this was what he hated about touring; not the adoring fans who spent hard-earned money on him, not the efforts of the talented crew who were able to make the show happen at all. it was the constant stress on his body. but there was one thing he looked forward to.
the costume fittings.
as the outfits began to truly come to life, michael requested that you come into the fitting room with him to help him with more intricate pieces of the costumes. you had done this plenty of times before, but not with michael. yes, michael did actually need help piecing everything together. but he had ulterior motives.
he felt terribly selfish, really. there was nothing directly inappropriate about his actions; he just needed some extra assistance when getting dressed due to the complexity of each costume, and he certainly didn’t want to ruin your beautiful work. but he knew what his real intentions were.
he desperately needed your touch and he was willing to do just about anything to get it. even if it was only for a few seconds, michael felt like electric was coursing through his veins every time you brushed his shoulder or clamping those metal plates onto his legs. he knew it was wrong, but he almost didn’t care. and that alone was the scariest part.
—————————————————————————
three days.
three days until michael’s first concert in prague. you were working your ass off, placing the very final touches onto every jacket for the show. every diamond and sequin lovingly sewn into the fabric, absolutely no detail left behind. but this was it. the final fitting before the tour officially kicked off.
you and michael had flown out early, along with several crew members to prepare for rehearsals at letna park. before the rehearsal began, you headed to michael’s dressing room to piece together the space suit you had worked so hard on.
you find your way to michael’s room, knocking on the door. he opens it almost immediately, as if he was waiting right outside the doorway. he had already dressed himself in his base wear; a white leotard was tucked into his sparkly gold pants. his tightly curled hair laid naturally on his head, left unstyled. he laid each plated piece out onto the concrete floor, handling them with care. “thank you for all your help with this. I can’t thank you enough.” he sat on a nearby chair, stretching out his legs in preparation for the plates soon to be strapped around them.
you settled onto your knees, beginning to grab the left leg piece. your body turned ice cold as michael called out your name. you looked up at him, your eyes suddenly struggling to keep his gaze. “you look so pretty like this, you know that?”
you almost felt the color drain from your face. there was no way this was happening.
“you don’t look so bad yourself…” you bit your lip, failing to hide a smirk.
michael wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you up onto his lap in one swift motion. he licked his lips. “oh yeah?” he teased, his lips moving to barely tickle yours. “show me how good I look, sweetheart.”
your lips collided in a frenzy, desperate to feel each other. michael’s tongue fought passionately against yours, moaning openly into your mouth.
you pulled away, speechless from the encounter. “michael…”
his hands quickly made their way up your skirt, his long fingers swiftly pushing you panties aside. “you feel that? so wet…all for me.”
your moans echoed through the room as his middle finger gently circled around your entrance before moving to your clit. fireworks exploded throughout your walls, already clenching at his touch.
your mouth latched onto his neck to soften your vocalization, biting and sucking at the sensitive skin. michael’s mouth hung open, overwhelmed by how good your mouth felt.
“so loud for me…you wanna get caught, angel?”
you violently shook your head. if you were discovered fucking your boss, you might just let the world swallow you whole.
“didn’t think so. here, let me help you.” michael continued to make slow circles around your bundle of nerves as his other arm shot to the floor. a white tie soon appeared in his hand, discarded from last night’s rehearsal. the same one to be worn during his famous “smooth criminal” number. “open wide, baby.”
you did just as instructed. michael stuffed the tie into your mouth, acting as a makeshift gag. michael chuckled darkly, his voice dropping to barely a whisper. “I’m sure I’ll have plenty more times to hear that voice.”
michael picked you up bridal style, wasting no time placing you gently onto one of many couches in the room. he made light work of your clothes, hastily stripping you until you were in only your underwear. you swear his mouth began to water at the sight. “oh my god…you’re gorgeous.”
pink creeped upon your cheeks. michael noticed instantly. “don’t get all shy on me now…look at me.”
you locked onto his doe eyes, all other concerns now long forgotten. “you sure you wanna do this?” he asked, suddenly softening in the otherwise sharp moment.
“yes, yes a thousand times yes!” you whined. “fill me up michael, please!”
that was all he needed to break completely. his dick was painfully throbbing through his pants, visibly twitching through the fabric. michael all but ripped off his outfit, making you cringe slightly at the thought of repairing it.
his pants were the last thing to be removed, his dick freely swinging in the air after being confined for so long. your mouth flung open, the tie falling into your lap. he was fucking huge; nine whole inches made its presence known to your eyes, as did the impressive girth.
“you like what you see?” he questioned, amused at your reaction. he carefully placed the tie back into your mouth. “can’t give ourselves away, hm?”
michael roughly pushed your panties to the side, not willing to wait another second to get to you. he wasted no time pushing himself slowly inside you, a guttural moan emerging from both your throats. he sat there a moment, allowing you to adjust to his length. he began to make painfully slow movements inside you, your walls instantly clenching around him. his hand moved down south, quickly connecting with your clit once again, his thumb making slow circles around the bundle of nerves.
lighting shot through you, illuminating your entire body like a control panel. and michael already knew all the right buttons to press.
he picked up speed, dick pumping in and out of you like clockwork. “fuck, you feel so good angel…so tight…”
mcihael’s pace didn’t stop, continuously speeding up over the course of a few minutes. “you close, sweetheart?” you nodded like a bobble head, desperate to feel that ultimate pleasure. you begged him through the tie. “michael - ah, I’m so close, please!”
that was all he needed. now slamming into you at full force, you took note of mchael’s disheveled appearance; now frizzy curls sticking to his forehead, dark marks on his neck already forming from your love bites, his face deeply contorted in pleasure, as if this was the best sex he’s ever had.
“you know you want it. cum with me, angel.”
the knot deep in your stomach quickly came undone, sparks coursing through your veins. the tie once again fell against your shoulder, curses and moans falling from your lips freely. michael pulled out of you, whimpering with pleasure as he came all over your stomach.
you both breathed heavily, michael flopping lazily beside you on the gigantic couch. “how was it?” michael asked, curious eyes reaching yours. you didn’t even have a word to describe the experience you just had. “good, really really good.”
michael laughed. “good, huh? I think someone’s a little speechless.”
a sharp knock on the door made both of you freeze in place.
“michael! what the hell are you doing in there?? rehearsals start in 5!”
you locked onto each other’s eyes. “just getting dressed, I’ll be out in a minute.”
—————————————————————————
the crowd roared as the performers littered the stage, dressed to the nines in their 1930s gangster apparel. you’d just finished straitening michael’s tie, a now familiar action after becoming upgraded to his personal dressing assistant.
“you know,” you began, placing a quarter in the bottom pocket of the tie, “I don’t like this tie on you.”
michael’s brows furrowed. “why not? is the color not quite right?”
you shook your head. “no, nothing like that. I just want to take it off of you.”
an ever so slight blush appeared on michael’s cheeks, visible to you even in the low light. he leaned to whisper in your ear. “later, angel. maybe we can put it somewhere else this time.”
he then turned to place himself in front of the curtain, his shadow casting against it in front of thousands of fans. he turned his head toward you, flashing a signature smile (along with a hard blink meant to be a wink).
“he really is something else” you thought, heading back to that fateful dressing room to fix yet another tear in his pants.
i am so fucking tired of this picture
let it be known that this is an ai generated picture of michael jackson. i understand that people want to celebrate his vitiligo and emphasize the beauty of it, but this is not the way to go. this is especially heinous when there are real pictures that show the blotches and patches on his skin
i'm begging y'all to put that photo to rest. i even feel that the existence of it is disrespectful. it kinda gives off the message of "this type of vitiligo is acceptable."
World Music Awards - love of a lifetime series.

Authors note: he looked so beautiful and happy to be there. She’s a big one; features anxious mature Michael, sleeping babies and a sneak peek into their life in their 40s.
~~~~~~~~~
London, 2006.
The roar started long before they reached the red carpet.
Inside the limousine, Michael sat quietly beside Y/N, his hand resting against her knee as London glittered outside the windows. Camera flashes were already exploding against the glass despite the fact that they had not yet arrived at the venue.
He watched the lights silently.
For all his fame, for all the decades he had spent standing in front of screaming crowds, there were still moments when anxiety settled heavily in his chest.
Years away from the spotlight had changed him.
Fatherhood had changed him.
Marriage had changed him.
The relentless need to constantly prove himself had softened beneath family dinners, bedtime stories, school runs, and mornings spent drinking tea with Y/N while their children argued over cereal.
For years, that life had been enough.
More than enough.
It had been everything.
But tonight was different.
Tonight he was stepping back into the world.
And he wasn't entirely sure the world wanted him anymore.
The thought lingered quietly as he adjusted the cuff of his jacket.
Beside him, Y/N noticed immediately.
She always did, reaching over and threading her fingers through his.
"You've gone quiet."
Michael offered a small smile.
"I'm thinking."
"That’s always a worry."
His laugh was soft.
She squeezed his hand.
"Nervous?"
He hesitated.
"A little."
"A little?"
He looked at her.
"A lot."
The honesty made her smile.
After twenty-five years together there was no point pretending.
She shifted closer.
The movement caused the diamonds around her neck to catch the interior lights.
Michael stared for a second.
God.
She looked breathtaking..
She looked like royalty.
Her gown flowed in liquid black silk, elegant and timeless, hugging her figure before falling effortlessly to the floor. Her hair was swept into a sophisticated style that exposed the graceful line of her neck, while diamonds glittered at her ears and wrists.
She looked like someone who belonged beside kings.
Which, Michael supposed, was fitting.
Because she had spent decades standing beside the King of Pop as his Queen.
Only unlike everyone else, she'd loved the man long before the title.
"You keep staring at me."
"I know."
She laughed.
"You've been staring since we left the hotel."
"I can't help it."
His voice softened.
"You look incredible."
The compliment still made her blush after all these years.
"You don't look too bad yourself."
Michael rolled his eyes.
She reached up and adjusted his lapel.
The gesture was intimate, automatic.
The sort of thing only a wife would do.
The sort of thing cameras rarely saw.
"Michael."
"Hm?"
"They still love you."
His eyes flickered toward the darkened window.
"You don't know that."
"I do."
She smiled.
"Because I know you."
Outside, the crowd erupted.
The limousine had arrived.
The noise hit them like a physical force.
Michael blinked.
Then blinked again.
The screaming only grew louder.
And louder.
And louder.
His expression changed instantly.
"Oh my God."
Y/N laughed.
"Told you."
~~~~~~~~
The moment they stepped from the car, London descended into complete chaos.
Flashbulbs exploded.
Fans screamed.
Security immediately formed a protective circle around them.
Yet even through the noise, one thing became immediately clear.
Nobody had forgotten Michael Jackson.
Not even close.
Thousands of voices echoed through the night.
"MICHAEL! Y/N!”
"WE LOVE YOU!"
"KING OF POP!"
"MICHAEL OVER HERE!"
He froze for half a second, completely overwhelmed.
Then the smile appeared, that famous smile, the one he hated.
The one that transformed his entire face and the one Y/N loved most.
The crowd somehow became even louder.
Michael laughed in disbelief before raising a hand.
The reaction was instantaneous.
People screamed so loudly that Y/N genuinely wondered if the nearby buildings might collapse.
He looked at her with wide eyes.
She simply mouthed,"See?"
His grin widened.
Then instinct took over, the performer returned.
The born entertainer.
The man who had spent his entire life loving people and being loved in return.
Michael moved toward the barriers.
Security nearly had a heart attack.
Fans burst into tears.
He signed programs.
Signed photographs.
Signed jackets.
Signed hats.
Reached for hands.
Quickly spoke to people.
Thanked them repeatedly.
And through it all, Y/N remained beside him.
Equally radiant.
Equally gracious.
She stopped to hug women who were crying.
Accepted flowers, before passing to security.
Thanked fans.
Asked names.
Laughed.
Smiled.
And looked entirely at ease.
Reporters couldn't stop photographing them.
Not because Michael Jackson was there.
That wasn't unusual.
It was because Michael Jackson and his wife were there.
Together.
Comfortable.
Happy.
Unmistakably in love.
The years away had done something remarkable.
Instead of creating distance between them, they appeared more united than ever.
When Michael moved forward, his hand automatically settled against Y/N's waist.
When she paused, he waited.
When she laughed, he looked at her.
Every gesture was unconscious.
Natural.
Married.
And people couldn't stop noticing.
~~~~~~
Inside the venue, the attention only intensified.
The audience rose to their feet the moment they entered.
Applause thundered throughout the room.
Michael visibly froze again.
The reception was far beyond anything he had anticipated.
For years he had quietly feared irrelevance.
Tonight shattered that fear within seconds.
The standing ovation seemed endless.
And when they finally reached their seats in the balcony, he looked almost emotional.
Y/N squeezed his hand.
"You okay, honey?"
He nodded.
Then shook his head and laughed.
"No."
She smiled.
"Good."
~~~~~~~~
Later, during a break, a host managed to catch Y/N as cameras moved through the audience, interviewing stars.
"Mrs Jackson, how are the children?"
The question instantly transformed her face.
Every trace of glamour disappeared beneath pure maternal pride.
Her smile became softer.
Warmer.
Real.
"Oh, they're wonderful."
The audience practically melted.
"They're growing so fast. They're happy, healthy, and keeping us very busy."
The reporter laughed.
"Do they know how famous their parents are?"
Y/N glanced toward Michael.
Michael immediately covered his face.
The crowd laughed.
"Honestly?" she said. "Most days we are just mommy and daddy."
The room erupted.
And for perhaps the first time all evening, people weren't seeing icons, they were just seeing parents.
~~~~~~~
When the time finally came for Michael's award, the Diamond Award, 100 million albums world wide. The entire venue stood before he even reached the stage.
The applause was deafening.
Michael walked toward the podium looking almost stunned.
For a brief moment he simply stood there.
Taking it in.
The faces.
The cheers.
The love.
The years.
Everything.
Then he spoke.
His voice was softer now than it had once been.
Older.
Gentler.
But somehow more sincere.
"I want to thank God."
The audience applauded.
"I want to thank my fans around the world."
More applause.
Then he paused.
His gaze moved toward the balcony where Y/N sat.
Their eyes met instantly.
The smile that appeared on his face changed completely.
The superstar disappeared.
The husband remained.
"And most importantly..."
His voice caught slightly.
"...I want to thank my wife."
The room erupted.
Y/N's eyes widened.
Michael never did this publicly.
Almost never.
He continued.
"For supporting me. For helping me with Thriller. For believing in me. For loving me."
The audience collectively melted.
"And to our children."
His smile grew.
"Daddy loves you very much."
By the time he finished speaking, Y/N was blinking rapidly.
Trying very hard not to cry and failing spectacularly.
~~~~~~
Then something unexpected happened.
Something nobody had planned.
Something that perfectly captured Michael Jackson.
The orchestra and the kids choir began playing the opening notes of We Are The World.
The audience immediately recognised it.
Voices joined in.
Tentatively at first.
Then stronger.
Louder.
Thousands of people singing together.
Michael looked toward the stage.
Then toward the crowd.
Then back toward the stage.
The familiar spark appeared.
Y/N knew that expression.
Uh oh.
He was about to do something.
Sure enough, Michael stood.
The crowd exploded.
Within moments he was on stage.
Laughing.
Pointing the microphone toward the audience.
Encouraging them.
Conducting them.
Singing with them.
Not performing.
Sharing.
Touching hands and even throwing them his jacket.
And the joy radiating from him was impossible to miss.
The years seemed to disappear.
The uncertainty disappeared.
The fear disappeared.
All that remained was Michael doing what he had always loved most.
Connecting with people.
From her seat, Y/N watched quietly.
The lights reflected in her eyes.
A smile played across her lips.
Pride swelled inside her chest until it almost hurt.
Because she knew what nobody else knew.
She knew the doubts.
The sleepless nights.
The private fears.
The moments he'd wondered whether he still mattered.
And now she was watching thousands of people answer that question for him.
The answer was obvious.
They loved him.
They always had.
They always would.
Michael looked over the audience.
Then found her.
Instantly.
As if he always could.
As if he always would.
The noise of the room seemed to disappear for a second.
His eyes locked onto hers.
And he smiled.
Not the smile for the cameras.
Not the smile for the fans.
Not the smile for history.
The smile meant only for Y/N.
The one she'd been collecting for more than twenty five years.
The one that still made her heart skip.
When he finally returned to his seat, breathless and glowing with adrenaline, he immediately reached for her hand.
Their fingers intertwined and neither letting go.
And as the applause continued around them, Michael leaned close enough that only she could hear him.
"You were right."
Y/N turned.
"About what?"
His eyes shone.
"They didn't forget me."
Her expression softened.
She brought his hand to her lips and kissed his knuckles.
"No, darling, never."
Around them, the audience was still cheering.
Still standing.
Still celebrating.
But in that moment it felt as though they were entirely alone.
Just a husband and wife.
Still in love.
Still holding hands.
Still choosing each other after all these years.
And for Michael, standing in the glow of a world that had welcomed him home, there was no award more important than that.
~~~~~~~~~~
The after-party was held in one of London's grand waterfront hotels, occupying an entire ballroom that glittered beneath crystal chandeliers and walls of glass overlooking the River Thames.
By the time Michael and Y/N arrived, word had already spread.
Not just that Michael Jackson had attended the awards.
Not just that he'd received a standing ovation.
But that Michael and Y/N Jackson had arrived together.
For younger artists, it felt almost mythical.
Many of them had grown up hearing stories about the marriage. They had seen photographs over the years, occasional glimpses during tours, charity events, premieres, but the couple had spent most of the last decade living quietly and privately.
As a result, their relationship had acquired an almost legendary quality.
People knew they were married.
People knew they had children.
But very few had actually witnessed them together.
Now they were.
And what surprised everyone wasn't grand declarations or dramatic romance.
It was how utterly natural they were.
The moment they entered the room, Michael's hand settled against the small of Y/N's back. The sort of touch that came from decades of loving someone.
As conversations began and guests approached, they moved through the room almost as if connected by an invisible thread.
Whenever Michael stopped to greet someone, Y/N naturally slowed beside him.
Whenever Y/N became engaged in conversation, Michael remained close enough to hear her laugh.
Neither seemed conscious of it.
Everyone else was.
Across the room people watched them with quiet fascination.
Because despite all the fame, despite the awards, despite the history attached to their names, they behaved less like celebrities and more like a couple who genuinely enjoyed each other's company.
A young singer approached nervously, clearly terrified.
Michael immediately smiled.
"Hello."
The poor man nearly forgot how words worked.
"I—I just wanted to say you're the reason I became a performer."
Michael's expression softened instantly.
The compliment clearly still affected him.
"Thank you."
Then, without missing a beat, he turned toward Y/N.
"This is my wife, Y/N."
Not Y/N.
Not my partner.
Not some polished celebrity introduction.
My wife.
The word fell from his lips so naturally it almost startled the young singer.
Michael said it with obvious pride.
As though introducing her remained one of his favourite things.
Y/N extended her hand warmly.
"It's lovely to meet you."
The singer shook it before turning back toward Michael.
"I honestly don't know what to say."
Michael laughed.
"That's okay. Most of us don't."
The tension immediately disappeared.
Soon they were discussing songwriting, touring, pressure, and longevity.
Michael answered thoughtfully.
Y/N occasionally added her own perspective.
Together they offered advice that felt less like instruction and more like encouragement.
Several younger performers later admitted that speaking with them felt like talking to the cool parents everyone wished they had.
Neither acted superior.
Neither acted important.
Despite having achieved more than almost anyone else in the room, they listened as much as they spoke.
As the evening progressed, people noticed other things.
Little things.
The details that couldn't be staged.
When a server appeared with drinks, Michael automatically took Y/N's first before accepting his own.
When she mentioned being cold near one of the open terrace doors, he immediately guided her further inside without interrupting his conversation.
At one point she absentmindedly reached to smooth a strand of hair away from his face.
He leaned into the touch without even thinking.
The gesture was over in seconds.
Yet three separate photographers nearly dropped their cameras.
Because intimacy wasn't what shocked people.
Comfort did.
This was not a new romance.
Not a couple still trying to impress each other.
This was something deeper.
Something settled.
The kind of affection built over decades.
The kind that became part of everyday life.
Later in the evening, while speaking with producers and executives, Michael became animatedly involved in a discussion about music.
Y/N was standing nearby.
Not directly beside him.
Just close.
As she laughed at something someone said, Michael reached out without looking and found her hand.
The movement was so automatic it almost seemed unconscious.
His fingers brushed hers.
Then intertwined.
Conversation continued uninterrupted.
Neither acknowledged it.
They simply stood there holding hands.
People absolutely noticed.
One producer quietly leaned toward another.
"How long have they been married now?"
"Over twenty years."
The producer stared.
"Seriously?"
The answer seemed impossible.
Most couples stopped touching each other like that after two decades.
Michael and Y/N looked as though they still genuinely preferred standing beside one another.
As midnight approached, the atmosphere softened.
The room became smaller.
More relaxed.
Guests began leaving.
Conversations became quieter.
Someone started playing piano near the far side of the ballroom.
Michael had spent most of the evening talking, laughing, shaking hands and accepting congratulations.
Yet every time Y/N entered his line of sight, his expression changed.
It softened.
Every single time.
As though he never quite got tired of seeing her.
Near one in the morning she walked over carrying two glasses of water.
"You need this."
Michael looked offended.
"I've had water."
"You've had orange juice."
"It's mostly water and vitamin c."
She raised an eyebrow.
He sighed dramatically and accepted the glass.
Several people nearby laughed.
One executive shook his head.
"King of Pop."
Michael pointed toward Y/N.
"She's the boss."
"Good and just you remember that" Y/N replied.
The group erupted with laughter.
~~~~~~~~
By the time they finally returned to the hotel, the evening felt worlds away.
The limousine ride was quiet.
Peaceful.
The adrenaline had begun to fade.
Michael leaned back against the seat with a contented sigh.
"I had fun."
"You did."
"I wasn't expecting that."
She smiled.
"I know."
Outside, the London skyline sparkled beneath the night sky.
Inside, Michael remained unusually reflective.
"I really thought..."
His voice faded.
"What?"
He looked down at their joined hands.
"I thought maybe people were finished with me."
The confession sat quietly between them.
Y/N squeezed his fingers.
"They were never finished with you."
Michael stared out the window.
A small smile appeared.
"No."
His voice was softer now.
"I guess not."
~~~~~~~~~~
The hotel suite was silent when they arrived.
No cameras.
No crowds.
No applause.
Just home or at least as close to home as travelling parents could manage.
The moment the door opened, superstar and fashion icon disappeared.
Mommy and Daddy arrived.
The children's nanny emerged from one of the adjoining rooms.
"They were wonderful."
Michael instantly relaxed.
"Everybody asleep?"
She nodded.
"Hours ago."
"Thank you."
After saying goodnight and ensuring everything was settled, both of them immediately went to check anyway.
Because parents always did.
The suite was dimly lit, moonlight filtered through partially open curtains.
Their children slept peacefully beneath tangled blankets.
Michael stood in the doorway for a moment.
Watching.
Smiling.
The expression on his face always changed around his children.
It became gentler, younger somehow.
He quietly adjusted a blanket before pressing a kiss against a sleeping forehead.
Across the room Y/N did the same.
The sight never failed to affect her.
No matter how many awards Michael won.
No matter how many stadiums he filled.
This remained her favourite version of him.
Daddy.
When they finally left the room, they closed the door softly behind them.
~~~~~~~
The rest of the evening unfolded in familiar rituals.
The glamorous gown disappeared.
The diamonds disappeared.
The suit disappeared, the stage make up and wig.
Soon Y/N was standing at the bathroom counter in a robe, carefully removing her makeup while Michael changed into soft pyjamas.
The transformation was almost comical, two hours earlier they had looked like royalty and now they looked like exhausted parents.
Michael sat on the edge of the bed watching her go through her nightly routine.
Creams.
Lotions.
Hairpins.
An endless collection of mysterious products he had never fully understood.
"You have more bottles than a pharmacy, girl."
She laughed.
"You've been saying that since the eighties."
"Because it's true, but I love it."
He stretched out across the mattress.
For a few moments neither spoke, the silence was comfortable, familiar.
One earned over decades.
Eventually Y/N climbed into bed beside him.
The suite was dark now, quiet.
Far removed from the chaos of the awards ceremony.
Michael rolled onto his side, looking at her.
Still looking, after all these years.
"You know" he said softly, "I don't think tonight would've gone the same without you."
She smiled. "Because I forced you to go?"
"Partly." He giggled.
She laughed.
His fingers found hers beneath the blankets, pulling her towards him.
"But mostly because whenever you're there, I feel brave."
The admission was so sincere it stole her breath for a moment.
Michael had spent his entire life being larger than life.
Yet moments like this revealed the truth.
He wasn't invincible, never had been.
He simply trusted her enough to let her see the parts nobody else did.
She leaned over and kissed him.
Tender.
Affectionate.
Home.
"You were wonderful tonight."
His smile was immediate.
"So were you."
For a while they lay together in the darkness, hands intertwined and wrapped around one another.
The sounds of London drifted faintly through the windows.
Their children slept safely in the next room.
The awards had been won.
The speeches had been given.
The crowds had cheered.
Yet somehow none of those things felt like the best part of the evening.
Because when all the glamour was stripped away, when the cameras disappeared and the world stopped watching, they were exactly what they had always been.
A husband and wife.
Two parents.
Two best friends.
And as sleep slowly pulled them under, Michael's hand remained wrapped around Y/N's, unwilling to let go even in dreams.
