crossfire
pro eijun, 28, all 185 centimeters of him, clean bulk of muscles and strong arms walking up then sprinting up to home plate after their first japan series win on the same side of a field, carrying miyuki and holding him high up in the air for everyone, the world, to see
miyukiâs mom who had him young, still in university, playing catcher for her universityâs softball team. teaching him all the rules, how to become the best catcher of his generation, and miyuki honoring her wish.
eijun having a growth spurt in his early 20s and him and miyuki not being able to see each other for a few months and suddenly eijun is already a few centimeters taller than him and he is just..shocked. and also a little turned on. because eijun was settling well within manhood, cheekbones more prominent with full-on puberty. and he likes the way eijun can so easily come hug him from behind and rest his chin on his shoulder now. he barely even fits into miyukiâs own clothes anymore and miyuki is already making a mental note for himself to buy bigger sweaters for the both of them. he loves the little pout that draws itself on eijunâs face whenever he goes to try out one of miyukiâs tshirts and he realizes its a little too tight on his torso, and even his sweatpants start to hang low on his hips. miyuki doesnât mind, because he loves seeing the little dimples on eijunâs lower back (and kiss them when eijun is lying down in bed when waiting for him after his shower)

thinking of polyglot pro eijun making sure all his international teammates are settling in well in the team and in japan in general. doing his best to make international players feel at home even if they are thousands of kilometers away from home, always inviting them to team gathering and translating for them. Getting invited by foreign media and having interviews in other languages and heâs just such a media darling all around the world.
EMMERGENCY COMMISSIONS
I am opening these simple commissions in order to pay for my dog's treatment! Sharing is very much appreciated!
miyuki who likes to hum/sing when he's cooking and sometimes doesn't even realize he's doing it and is singing along to whatever song is on the radio and eijun is listening to him from the couch and claps when the song ends and miyuki gets all red in the cheeks. miyuki who doesn't think he's good at it but sometimes he hums a song when they are in bed together and he rubs soothing circles on eijun's back and eijun falls asleep so fast⌠and eijun loves it because he loves feeling the vibration of miyuki's voice against his ribcage.
something about miyuki's love language being physical touch. him being unable to separate himself from eijun once they start dating, always forcing him back into bed when they wake up to have some cuddle time, him always having a hand in his hair when they are on the couch, always drying his hair after a shower, always having his toes pressing into eijun's side when they are watching something on the couch, or simply just flopping onto eijun's body to recharge after a long day
misawa kissing so desperately.. so much tongue and saliva and hands gripping on clothes and nails digging into the small of backs and fingers tangled into hairs, the rocks of their bodies oh so intense, whispering sweet nothings and âwe shouldnâtââs into each otherâs skin..

something about miyuki seeing eijun naked for the first time outside of the context of the shower, when its just the two of them alone in the confines of miyukiâs room and eijun undresses in front of him to get into his nightwear, and eijun really⌠well⌠he does it mostly out of habit. itâs so easy for him. heâs comfortable around miyuki and miyuki is simply just stunned. he stares at him long and hard as eijun continues to undress, and itâs not until heâs down to just his pants that he notices miyukiâs gaze on him. he pulls off each of his pants legs slowly, lets miyuki stare, a small smile on his face as he does so. and then he steps out of his boxers and the creeping blush on miyukiâs cheeks is all eijun needs to take the first step, craddling miyukiâs face in his hands before kissing him so, so sweetly.

eijun and miyuki pressing their faces together sleepily, not even kissing, just resting their foreheads together, noses brushing, breathing each other in. itâs miyuki's favorite time of the day, when they get to be together like this, muscles relaxed and sun bearing down on them. everything in eijun reminds him of home, from his soft morning voice to the golden of his irises, shining with the sunâs reflection, the way he smells, traces of the cologne he still wears years after years and the maple syrup from his shampoo.

He's so cool
It was after Miyuki had retired from the team.
In the warm summer night, heat clinging stubbornly to their bodies, they found themselves lying down in the grass, just beside the familiar steps they spent countless hours on, talking about nothing and everything, where their fingers had first tangled shyly together, where confessions had spilled from dry lips, where theyâd shared their first kiss and countless others. A place of many beginnings.
The stars were bright, their shoulders pressed against one another. They laughed and laughed until the air in their lungs ran out.
But something felt off. Now, it felt like something was ending.
The laughter died down, their smiles disappeared. Kazuyaâs hand that was previously in between them was now sat on his own chest. And he took a deep breath.
âIâm going pro,â Kazuya started, voice quiet yet certain. âAfter high school.â
He didnât look at Sawamura right away, didnât dare to. He simply stared up at the night sky, filled with stars, somehow hoping their future might be foretold in them.
There was a beat of silence, then two, until Sawamura hummed, a soft little sound that was almost too quiet for Sawamura, but still broke through the stillness. âYouâll do great,â he said, and when Kazuya finally glanced over, he found familiar golden eyes to be already on him, his gaze always oh so steady and warm. âWherever you go.â
And Kazuya let the words sink in for a moment, the corners of his mouth tugging up slightly. âHmm. I know," Kazuya said, with all the smugness in the world, though, there was a warmth hidden beneath it.
An indignant noise came from Sawamura, and with it came the slight pain of a playful smack to Kazuyaâs shoulder, sharp enough to jolt him, but not enough to hurt, simply Sawamuraâs way of keeping him grounded, the way heâd always done, the way he knew he would always do. âDonât get too big for your boots!â
âIâm merely telling the truth,â Kazuya quipped, but the smirk that flickered across his lips didnât quite reach his eyes, this time. Heâd had a lot of time to think â too much, maybe â since their last game at Koshien. The bus ride back from Osaka had been a long one, and while the sound of the engine and the soft snoring of his teammates could have lulled him to sleep, Kazuya hadnât closed his eyes once.
Heâd spent the better part of the trip staring out the window, watching the landscape blur into nothingness, ruminating about all the games theyâd played, all the breakfast and dinners theyâd shared, all the warm-ups, all the scoldings, all the highs and all the downs, all the blood sweat and tears, the silence from the crowd that came with an injury, and the loudness that came from the pitcher he could call his.
And it had taken him too long to realize that he belonged there. That maybe, just maybe, letting people in wasnât as terrifying as heâd always thought, that friendship didnât have to be something fleeting, temporary, something he didnât dare grow attached too, as it, too, could disappear.
But now that he had it all in the palm of his hands, this life, these friends, this boy beside him, it felt like it was already slipping through his fingers, grain by grain like sand in a hourglass no matter how tightly he held onto them â all of it already over.
âSometimes I wonder if Iâm not dreaming too big.â Kazuya whispered, loud into the dark of the night, looking up at the starry sky. His hand moved restlessly against the grass between them, fingers catching onto strands, plucking some of them.
âThis is the most stable Iâve ever been,â he continued, and he could feel Sawamuraâs lion gaze on him, those big round eyes of his meticulously tearing apart every tick of Kazuyaâs expression, cataloguing the smallest twitch of his mouth, the tightening of his jaw, the subtle furrow in his brows into the library of his mind.
âA boyfriend, and a space that welcomes me and my bad personality.â There was a chuckle beside him, but Sawamura remained quiet still. âPro teams lining up to sign me.â
And his voice cracked just slightly, almost imperceptibly. But he knew that Sawamura surely knew better. âTook me too long to realize I belonged here,â he admitted, and somehow, it felt like releasing a breath he hadnât realized heâd been holding, all these months, all these years. âThat making friends wasnât such a bad thing, that I could let people in, and theyâd actually stay.â
Kazuya felt the whisper of a finger against his hand, flittering touches against his skin, warm and reassuring in the dark of the night. It explored, took in the minutiae of his hand, every bump and every callus.
âAnd now that I have it all,â Kazuya continued still, eyes fixed on the sky like it might give him an answer, âit feels like itâs already over.â
He wasnât sure how, or why, the words kept coming. Maybe it was the dark, the silence, all of it less daunting, somehow. Because Kazuya could talk for hours about baseball, about the kind of meal heâd learned to cook in the so few hours down time they allowed themselves to have, about Sawamura and his pitching prowess and how it made his heart lurch in a hundred different ways.
But this, his feelings, that was different. He didnât dare let them out, they sat, heavy, like rocks that weighed a ton, in his chest. They were too loud, too fragile, still belonged to the same eight year old boy that had to learn to fend for himself.
And yet, here he was, saying too much, still so afraid, yet grounded by the warmth of the pitcher beside him, by the boy that had turned his world upside down with just one pitch. âI never really had something I could call home. Not really,â he admitted, and the featherlight touches between them turned to a soft cradle. âBut whenâ Iâm with you⌠well it feels like maybe I do.â
The hand held onto his tighter.
âEven if we end up hundreds of kilometres apart, even if weâre on different teams, in different leaguesââ Kazuya swallowed, breath hitching slightly, already getting too far ahead of himself. âif Iâve got you thatâs enough. Thatâs home. Home will be a text or phone call away."
Sawamura didnât say anything right away. He simply scooted closer, until their knees knocked together, until their shoulders were pressed against one another. And then, in the silence of the night, he heard a small smile stretching across Sawamuraâs face.
âWeâre partners, after all.â Sawamura said, like it was a known fact.
A gentle breeze rustled through their hair, and for a while, neither of them spoke, soft lull in their conversation filled with the distant hum of cicadas and the quiet understanding of it all.
Without thinking much about it, and perhaps to seek even more of that heat he loved so much, he shifted closer, head turning until it found its place against Sawamuraâs chest, rising and falling steadily beneath his ear, the quick beat of his heart grounding him in the moment.
He breathed in deep, the scent of grass and rawhide filling his nostrils, along with the familiar scent of the body wash they all shared, that was yet so characteristically Sawamura.
And under him, he felt the soft vibration of Sawamuraâs voice. âI think Iâll go to university,â Sawamura said, quietly, as to not shatter the moment. âKeep pitching, maybe figure myself out a little more.â
They hadnât talked much about what was next, about what the future could hold, too focused on living in the present, on savouring each and every last game they had together, every after practice stats-study session, every second spent in an embrace and every meeting of lips.
Kazuya let his eyes close, let the calming constant of Sawamuraâs heart sync with his own. âYeah?â Kazuya murmured, the word slurred slightly by the way his cheek was squished against Sawamuraâs chest.
He felt, more than heard, the soft hum Sawamura gave in response, a low vibrato sound that resonated through his ribcage, and down to Kazuyaâs core.
Another beat passed, the city slowly quieting, the distant hum of traffic melting into the background like white noise, carried away by the whisper of the wind.
Then, Kazuya tilted his head just enough to glance up, lazy smirk already plastered on his face. âDidnât think you could stay quiet for this long.â
A small pause, and a huff above him. âItâsâ!â Sawamura started, and Kazuya could feel Sawamuraâs body warming up with embarrassment under him. âI knew this was important to you! You never talk this much. UnlessâŚunless itâs about baseball.â
âTouchĂŠ.â
âBut!â Sawamura continued before he rolled them over in one swift, clumsy motion, Kazuya now flat on his back, with a view full of stars, and of Sawamura, hovering just centimeters above him. Their legs tangled together, the weight of Sawamuraâs body above him comforting, grounding, just on this side of perfect.
âIâm happy you trusted me with all this,â Sawamura said, mouths so close their lips brushed together in speech.
And Kazuya didnât answer right away, simply tilted his chin, just barely, enough so that their lips would press together fully this time, gentle and slow, but mostly familiar, wishes on both their tongues.
For this to work out, for this to not be the end, for this to stay the same, even hundreds of kilometres apart. Because home wasnât a place, it was a person, and right now, he was lying on top of him.
